Our Luna, Our Mate Chapter 52

**Ares POV**

When father had linked me through the packlink, I knew it couldn’t have been good. Especially when father said it involved the Moon Walker Pack. Sighing I move to focus my attention back on Eros as well as our mate, knowing she would want answers.

‘Are you sure we should be telling mate this? After all she is pregnant with our child’ asks Zeus to me, having heard everything between father and I.

‘What other choice do I have? She’s going to want to know. After all it’s the only home she’s ever known regardless of how cruel they were to her’ I say to him knowing it was true.

‘That’s when you distract her’ grumbles Zeus, annoyed.

‘And have her be mad at us, uh no thanks. Plus father has already told me to bring her with so she has to come, regardless’ I tell him, not wanting to anger father or our mate as Zeus sighs.

‘For your sake, mate better handle the news well’ growls Zeus before dropping the subject at hand.

Sighing, I move to return my focus back to the task at hand before I was interrupted by Zeus. Telling Eros and Athena exactly what father had just told me.

“Father linked me” I start, unsure of how to approach the matter, as I didn’t have a whole lot to go off on. Only bits and pieces of what father had been willing to tell me just seconds beforehand.

“And?” asks Athena, knowing she wanted to rip off the bandaid.

Gazing at my mate, I told her exactly what he had said to me. That it was urgent and it involved the Moon Walker Pack. Once finished I can’t help but watch as many different emotions flittered along her beautiful face until landing back on fear.

A fear she had every right to feel as the outcome of her pack could be either a good thing or a bad thing, as we only knew that the Rogue King was going to head for them, we just didn’t know if it would be for the better or for the worst.

As I continue to watch her process what I just said, I use this moment to look at Eros. Catching his gaze he can’t help but give me a worried look as well. Concerned they might have been too late to help those who needed it.

‘Father said he would explain more once we got to his office, that’s all I know. Promise’ I move to tell him through our link for being identical twins definitely had its perks.

Nodding his head, he moves to not comment as I move to contact Kai, our Beta. ‘Kai’ I called him.

‘Yes my Alpha?’ asks Kai once he responded through the link.

‘Find Lily and bring the bitch to father’s office. We need to know exactly what she knows about the Rogue King and why she’s suddenly helping him’ I reply.

‘Of course my Alpha. Lucas and I will see to it personally’ was all Kai said before closing the link to do as I asked. Once that’s handled do I move to speak once more.

“Come, we shouldn’t keep father waiting much longer” I comment, as we each move to stand before cleaning up our mess before heading back inside to speak with father.

-Alarick’s Office-

Approaching the office, do I move to knock on the door, waiting to be summoned by our father. “Enter” calls father’s voice from the other side of the door.

Sighing, we move to enter. Athena clinging to Eros as we did. “Ah, Ares, Eros glad you could join me” replies Alarick to his sons, his gaze void of all emotions at the moment as he moves to gesture us over to a seat.

“And you brought Athena with you, excellent.”

“Father, what exactly is going on? What aren’t you telling us?” asks Eros once the three of us were seated across from him, Father still seated at his desk.

“I’m afraid I have some horrible news” answers Alarick to his sons before sighing. As if he wished he could lessen the blow by stalling.

“Terrible news?” asks Athena, nervously, clinging to both Eros and I as she sat between us in the middle.

“Yes dear child” starts Alarick as he moves to look at Athena, his eyes somber. “There’s no better way to say this, so I’ll just come right out and say it. Alpha Blackwood has finally contacted me and unfortunately the Moon Walker Pack has suffered greatly at the hands of the Rogue King.”

“WHAT?” gasps Athena now in a panic as her mind races.

“I’m afraid so. While the attack was heavy, Alpha Paul Blackwood and his family are safe. His life was spared unlike many of his pack members” explains Alarick.

“Why-Why weren’t we notified of this? We could have helped them” growls Eros, angry that one of our neighboring packs had suffered a heavy loss.

“Because you two were in the middle of taking care of your mate!” barks Alarick a look of anger passing his features.

“But-”

“NO! I was not about to interrupt your mating cycle with that of another matter. Worrying you and Athena would have hurt your chances at breaking Athena’s heat. Your mate needed you and the distraction it brought with. Yet, while the loss was great, the pack is still there unlike Athena’s pack in which was completely wiped out” growls Alarick, disappointed that his sons would push off a mating right to worry over another pack.

“Alpha… Sir..” answers Athena now timidly.

“Please, call me father or Alarick, not Alpha or Sir” remarks Alarick to Athena. “After all we’re family too.”

Pausing at the mention of family, does Athena move to gaze at her lap. “Okay… Father… Is my uncle and aunty okay? What about Brian and Diana?” questions Athena, wanting to know what happened to that of her family if any.

“Beta Collin and his mate are both fine, a little beaten up but overall unharmed. As for your cousins, Brian is in the hospital and Diana only has minor injuries thanks to Jacob who protected her” admits Alarick as Athena sighed.

“Do not worry though, when the Lycan King arrives, your uncle and aunt shall receive a more fitting punishment along with those associated with hurting you. As it is a crime to do so” adds Alarick hoping it would help ease her mind.

Sensing Athena’s relief, Eros and I return to our father. “That still doesn’t explain why the Rogue King attacked them” remarks Eros.

“No, but if I had to guess, my guess would be pay back, in favor of not handing Athena over when they should have. After all, it's what Lily and the King discussed, did they not? If not for that reason then I’m sure it was to try and wipe them out, just like Moon Valley” admits Alarick in thought.

Taking in the information that laid before us, we knew from what our father had said was true, a clear indication of an act of war. Ezra clearly had a vendetta with Athena and from past actions only spoke in volumes.

Ezra was clearly not to be trusted. No matter what.

‘We’ll protect mate, always’ growls Zeus having heard enough.

‘Of course… our mate will forever be protected’ I tell him just as her voice chimes up again.

“This is all because of me” whispers Athena, startling all of us within the room. “It’s because I’m this so-called chosen one. He only wanted me so he could have complete and utter control of all the other packs.”

Stunned, all I can do is turn to look at our mate, trying to grasp what she was saying.

“NO” growls Eros, the first one to speak since her words. “This is not your fault! Don’t you dare believe that for even a second.”

Biting her bottom lip, Athena struggles to accept the fact that what she had said was a complete and utter lie as both Eros and I refused to believe that the only reason why Ezra had attacked the Moon Walker Pack was because of some random claim that stated she was the chosen one. For sure, Athena’s wolf was white and sparkled like moon dust making her unique in her own way didn’t automatically make her a chosen one when the Moon Goddess had deemed her worthy of becoming Our Mate, Our Luna for the Mystic Shadow Pack, not that of Ezra, the Rogue King and his band of misfits that seemed to cause nothing but trouble for those who wanted to live happy and peacefully through out the world.

‘He’ll pay,’ growls Zeus, angered by this bit of information we had received.

‘Indeed he will, indeed he will’ I murmur back to him, fully in agreement with the notion of protecting our mate from further harm.
