Our Luna, Our Mate Chapter 151

**Athena's POV**

“Wake up” barks a voice. A groan now rising as I slowly attempt to gather my bearings. My head still a bit foggy as I try to sort myself out. The last thing coursing through my memory was when Shane had handed Brian something tiny and the next, darkness.

A low growl rising at what they’ve done to me. My eyes now searching for Brian and Shane. The urge to rip off their heads a focal point for my anger until the voice from before moves to snap me away from those thoughts and back over to them.

“ENOUGH. Your focus should be on who your opponent is going to be instead of Brian and his exDelta. There the least of your worries.”

Hearing those words, I quickly snap my focus over to those before me. My body now lying in a wide open field for as far as the eye could see. Rogues lining the field alongside Witches. Witches that I was sure Lily was forcing into doing her dirty work for her. Rage boiling at the need to kill her once and for all now coursing through me without any kind of remorse.

‘Artemis?’ I call out to her softly. The need to make sure she was okay and with me now a top priority.

‘I’m here’ whispers Artemis, her voice clearly weaker all thanks to that stupid tranquilizer from earlier. 

‘Please, hold on for me. I need you’ I say, hoping she’d be able to hold on long enough to get us through this.

‘I’ll try. I promise.’

When hearing those words, I know Artemis would never intentionally break a promise to me even if it was one that she made herself. A part of me knowing that I couldn’t fault her even if she couldn’t hold up her side of the deal. As Brian and Shane had weakened her greatly and it was now up to me to make sure that we lived long enough to see another day.

I need to stay strong, for my mates, for my children, and for myself, I murmur, a part of me knowing that if I didn’t then it would only be a matter of seconds before I fell at the mercy of Lily or worse Brian as neither of them knew how to play fairly.

NO.. I shall not lose, I can’t lose.

Moving to now stand up on shaky legs, I move to survey the area. My eyes slowly scanning for my supposed opponent, fear threatening to take over me once I finally see who it was when a huge black wolf slowly makes its appearance.

My heart literally thumping against my rib cage in fear as the wolf now in question moves to stand mere meters from me. My brain telling me to flee to run while my heart tells me to stay to fight and protect. That we know this wolf who now stood before us and that they would never truly harm us if it wasn’t because of our situation.

With vacant eyes, deep blue eyes continue to stare straight at me from a distance, a whimper trying to escape me as I continue to watch the wolf before me with caution.

Ares.

‘Ares?’ I try through our bond, a part of me hoping that I could somehow get through to him that way.

‘ARES!’

With eyes still vacant, Ares continues to ignore me. A wave of sadness now coursing through me at the thought of Ares ignoring me and our bond.

“I know what you're trying to do there Athena and I will admit it will not work. Ares is mine now. He only answers to me and only me.” taunts the voice of Lily, her body now coming to stand next to Ares as her fingers move to touch his fur.

A growl rising to greet us as I watch her touch my mate.

‘Artemis? Please tell me that you can reach Zeus?’ I plead, hoping that she had better luck with them than I did currently.

‘No, I’m afraid not. Zeus is currently unresponsive as well. It’s almost like they're blocked or at most locked away from us’ whines Artemis, her voice sad for mate, our mate.

Fearing now gripping at my chest as I try not to panic. A part of me remembering that panicking only gets you so far and with Ares at the mercy of Lily I needed to remain strong, for him. The need to save him rising over everything else currently.

Shifting my focus now back over to Ares and Lily, I try to formulate a plan, a plan that could possibly help me break through to Ares and finally snap him out of whatever kind of spell that Lily had over him. A part of me unable to cope with the idea of possibly losing him to another when Ares rightfully belonged to me.

“Ares, darling, care to show Athena here what it is that we do to those who don’t belong here with us? What we do to those weaker than us?” coos Lily, her hand still in Ares fur making me cringe.

Ares now lightly growling over in our direction as his blank eyes continue to watch us, a chill running through me at the possibility of him actually attacking me instead.

‘Ares?’ I move to try again, not wanting to lose hope just yet.

Growling a bit louder, Ares moves to prowl forward, his giant wolf form now slowly moving to approach us while I on the other hand attempt to back away from him slowly. Not wanting to fight him if I could help it, even if it would seem damn near impossible to do so.

‘Athena… We have to fight them. They’ll kill us if we don't,’ replies Artemis, her senses now kicking into full gear once she got a reading on Ares and Zeus.

‘NO! I-I can’t. They're still our mate. I have to try and make him see reason, we can’t give up on them’ I beg, hoping she would understand our situation.

‘Athena, no. We have to fight them. Even if it might be the only way to free them, we have to at least try’

Hearing those words, I instantly feel like a cold bucket of water had been thrown directly at me. Fear officially gripping at my chest as Ares moves to stalk closer. Deep blue eyes now locked with my own even as I try to think of my next move. Ares still prowling closer and closer with each step forward.

If this is to be my fate, then I hope it’s a fate that finally frees Ares from Lily’s overall control, is all I manage to think as I move to bare my teeth at him. My body now in survival mode as I’m now forced to fight my mate.

"Now Ares, kill her. End her pathetic life here as a wolf” orders Lily, her eyes gleaming in happiness at the thought of my demise. Ares now running in our direction while I, myself, move to do the same. Claws and teeth at the ready as we move to attack one another without further remorse.

Please, Moon Goddess. Give me the strength needed to do what I must do in order to free my mate and put an end to all the madness that Lily and Brian have brought up all of us. Let us be free of them once and for all, come my only thoughts as Ares moves to pounce.
