Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 37: Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate

Letting my wolf take over, I move to the back and start to reflect on what has been happening. Everyone seems mad that I haven’t accepted Tiyanna as my mate, but they just don’t understand. There’s a reason why I don’t want a mate and besides, I’ve done very well this whole time without one. Having a mate will only make me more vulnerable to other packs and I don’t have time for that distraction. If she already knew how to properly protect herself that would be one thing, but she doesn’t know how to fight though she’s been very lucky so far with Trinity and even with that Alpha’s daughter in her old pack. Speaking of Red Dawn, I need to check in with my spies and see how things are going there with the move going down in two weeks.  

As my wolf keeps running through the forest, a scent hits the air and we start to slow down to let them catch up. I’m really not in the mood for this but they seem to be insistent on talking to me so I’ll let them have their say. After a few more minutes they’ve caught up to me and I come to a stop near a tree. When they get closer, I cock my head to the side watching them and waiting for their next move. They look at me too and a frustrated look comes over the face of the wolf which looks quite comical and I’d laugh normally but now is not the time and could be misunderstood. The wolf shifts and now standing naked in front of me is my mate. 

“This would be better if you shift too so that we can talk.” she said to me.  I shift quickly and lean against a nearby tree with my arms folded across my chest in a nonchalant way. 

“What is it, Tiyanna? I’m really not in the mood.” I say in an aggravated tone. 

“I wanted to thank you for what you did back there, and to let you know that I really didn’t want to fight her. Yes, I gave you my rules but you also had rules for me to follow and I need you to know that if I could have helped it then I wouldn’t have broken them.” she says in a low voice. Usually, she is proud and confident with a sassy mouth that makes me want to kiss and punish her at the same time, but tonight she is actually speaking to me in an almost gentle voice.  

“Don’t read too much into what I did because it was long overdue that I talked to this pack about the way they’ve been behaving. Their behavior lately is exactly why I never wanted a mate. It causes discord within the pack trying to choose whether to be on the Alpha or Luna’s side when things happen. There are other reasons too, but those don’t need to be brought up especially since I no longer have a mate anyway.” I say to her before turning and shifting into my wolf then taking off further into the forest. 

Tiyanna’s POV 

Two weeks have passed and the members of the Red Dawn pack have shown up and been sorted into their new homes. So far, there are only elderly and orphaned kids being incorporated into the pack, but eventually they will add some families. Talon asked me to go to his office to discuss who was involved in my abuse while at my old pack because those people would not be allowed to live here. Not all families were coming here anyway, but they definitely didn’t want to let anyone in that had anything to do with my torment.  

Cameron hasn’t talked to me or been in the same room with me since that night in the forest. A part of me wants to see him but I know that is impossible. He has said many times that he doesn’t want a mate, though the look in his eyes when I rejected him and the time in the forest told me a different story. For a split second each time I could have sworn that I saw hurt in his eyes, but I must have imagined that because he is always so cold towards me.

 Today, I am going shopping for new clothes with Cameron’s sister Sierra and Caroline. I made the mistake of telling them my plans at dinner the other night and now they are tagging along. Why didn’t I just shop online? I say to myself. I’ve never been a girly girl and just wanted to go in one store and get in and out but with these two that won’t be happening. I’ve seen the tons of bags that they have come back with after their shopping trips to the mall. Poor Talon and a few guards always have their hands full bringing bags from the car into the pack house. Trinity had her punishment and apologized to me and the other pack members though I didn’t believe a word she said. I decided to not dwell on the matter and let it go for the sake of everyone.
