Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 38: Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate
We arrive at the mall, which was not my idea at all to go there, and as soon as we enter Sierra takes off to one of the most expensive stores there. Caroline and I make it to the store and she already has her arms full of clothes that she is planning on trying on and I just shake my head. This is another reason that I prefer shopping alone. When I’m alone, I don’t have to try anything on, but she says that you have to otherwise you won’t know how the clothes look properly.
“Sierra, I’m not going to be in this place all day so get what you need fast. I swear I’ll leave you here.” I say in an aggravated voice before turning and walking out of the store.
Heading out of the store where I left Sierra, I make my way to a clothing store that is less expensive. Once inside, I pick out some shirts, jeans, slacks, exercise pants, sports bras, shoes, and socks. When I feel like I have everything I need, I head to the counter and let the salesperson ring up my items. After I’m done, I head to the food court and order a lemonade and fries from one of the vendors, and sit down at a table. I’ll just wait here until they are finished.
While I sit there eating my fries, I watch the people walking around the mall. There are couples and kids everywhere and I just watch them all. Maybe one day I’ll have someone in my life and we’ll have children of our own. As I finish my fries, i take a sip of my lemonade and the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Quickly I start to scan the room all around me for the danger. I take out my phone and send a text to Caroline and tell her where I am and what is going on and she quickly texts me back and says they are on their way.
While I wait for them to show up, I continue to scan my surroundings. A few minutes later, they show up and flank me also checking our surroundings. Caroline suggests that we stick close together and head back to the car. Sierra keeps whining about how if her brother finds out he’ll either never let us leave again or we’ll have to go with bodyguards. I really wished she would shut up but if I told her that I knew it would hurt her feelings and I figured she was mostly talking because of nerves.
We make it to the car without incident but as we’re putting the bags into the trunk, I smell them before I see them. There are about five rogues nearby and even though I’ve been doing well in training, I don’t know if my skills are great enough to fight them. Sierra hardly ever goes to training and while Caroline is a Beta female, she will need help if they attack us.
“Caroline, there are about five rogues nearby. Sierra, get in the car and try to call for help. Caroline, I don’t know how much help I’ll be, but we’re going to have to try to hold them off.” I say to her.
“I already called Talon and he should be almost here,” she says to me and I look at her with a shocked expression. When did she call him? As if reading my mind, she answers my inner question.
“I called him as soon as you told us what was going on in the food court,” she replies.
Before I can get more into that with her because I know that Talon will tell Cameron, the rogues appear from the woods behind the mall. They snarl at us and growl which causes my wolf to come forward emitting her own growl. They are disrespecting her and she doesn’t like it one bit.
“I’m going to need your help, Silver,” I say to her.
“I’ve got your back, Tiyanna. Now pay attention; they are coming,” she says.
They start to advance on us and Caroline and I both shift into our wolves. We growl at them in warning to not continue advancing but they ignore us. We both get into defense positions and watch as they try to circle us. We stand as close as we can with our backs to the car so that none of them are behind us, but leaving enough room to maneuver. All at once they attack us and we go on the defense. In seconds you can’t tell where they begin and we end as we’re a huge ball of fur, claws, and razor-sharp teeth snarling, biting, and clawing at each other. I let Silver take over as much as possible, letting her use her natural instincts to fight.
Caroline is fighting two of them while the other three seem hell bent on attacking me. My wolf fights them off and is doing pretty well until one of them manages to grab ahold of our right hind leg and bits into it sending a painful howl from our lips. The bite causes me to stumble and distract Caroline for an instant, but the distraction is enough for one of the wolves she’s fighting to attempt to go for her throat. Inside I am screaming and I fight hard to get to her, but I know that I won’t make it to her in time and can do nothing but close my eyes as I see his jaws get near her throat going in for the kill. The wind shifts and I smell him and my heart starts to beat faster in my chest.
A loud growl rips through the air and everything stops for a split second. When I open my eyes three wolves are lying dead at my feet and the other two are being dealt with by Talon. He is literally ripping them to shreds and I know he is pissed about them attacking his mate. A pain is in my heart knowing that my mate would never get that angry and protective over me. While I’m wallowing in my own sorrow, I feel a hand on my head rubbing my fur and I feel the tingles flowing through me. How is this possible? I rejected him. I shouldn’t be able to feel the tingles or this strange emotion coming from him.
“Shift back Tiyanna and get dressed.” he says before walking away to stop Talon.
I quickly shift back and put my clothes on before running over to Caroline to check on her. When I bend down and check her pulse, I sigh as I realize that she has only passed out. Strong arms grab me and lift me up and I know that it is Talon because I don’t feel the tingles. Looking into his brown eyes I can tell that he is furious.
“WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED HERE TIYANNA?! WHY DID THEY ATTACK MY MATE?”
