Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 73: What happened to Alpha Conrad?

Once I made it back to our bedroom, I let myself fully fall apart. Deep down I know that he didn’t mean what he said but it felt so real. He couldn’t really feel that way, could he? This is so confusing because it felt like he meant it when he was talking. I didn’t feel the love and affection that usually comes from him and his wolf through our bond. None of it made sense to me, especially after all that we’ve gone through to get here in our relationship.  

After the tears dried up and I didn’t feel as hurt anymore, I got myself off of the floor and went into the bathroom for a shower. Passing by the mirror, I saw that my eyes were red and puffy from crying, and my cheeks were a bit rosy as well. I decided to ignore my looks and just take my shower. The warm water relaxed me a bit and I felt myself calm down and a kind of peace came over me, but when I finished washing and got out of the shower and stepped into the bedroom I soon figured out why. There sitting on our bed was Cameron, only he didn’t look happy. Well, that makes two of us.  

Walking to the closet, I ignore him sitting on the bed and get myself dressed in jeans and a t-shirt with my socks and tennis shoes, then I go to the vanity to comb out my hair before putting it up in a high ponytail. Once I’m done, I grab my phone and purse then head to the door. I’m almost out of the room before I hear him call my name. I hesitate at the door before deciding to turn around and look at him. He was now standing five feet away from me with a sad look on his face, but I still can’t feel what he is feeling through our bond.  

“What do you want Alpha?” I asked him knowing that calling him that lets him know that I am not happy with him. 

“I wanted to talk about what happened earlier.” he said. 

“There’s nothing to talk about at least there’s nothing for me to say anyway.” I say back to him. 

“Tiyanna don’t be like that.” he said. 

“Be like what Cameron? Please tell me how I am being. Do you mean stop being hurt that my mate rejected me or that he rejected me in front of his whore?” I yell at him. In seconds he is in front of me and holding me tight to his chest. 

“You know damn well there is nobody else I want to be with and you’re the only one that I love. Why would you take anything that I said seriously? Did you feel the bond weaken even a little when I said the rejection?” he asked while still holding me though I wasn’t holding him back. When he asked me those questions I started to think. No, I hadn’t felt the bond weaken but then again, I couldn’t feel anything through our bond. 

“No, I didn’t feel it weaken, but I can’t feel anything from you or your wolf through our bond. Did you mean what you said to her? Has all of this been some kind of joke to you this whole time? Were you always planning on taking her back and leaving me after you took my virginity?” I fired the questions at him and only then did he release me from his hold. He looked at me and grabbed my shoulders forcing me to look at him. 

“Listen to me and never make me have to tell you this again. I love you. You are my one and only mate and there will never be anyone else. What I said to Trinity is what needed to be said in order to get her to give us the information we need. She still didn’t tell me anything, but you running away in tears helped her to start trusting me. I could tell that she doesn’t fully trust me, but with some time that could change. Now if I thought for a second that us doing this would hurt you then I wouldn’t have agreed to this plan.” 

“I love you too. Honestly, I thought that I could handle it, but when the rejection part came, I don't know what happened. It felt so real, and not being able to feel what you were feeling made it worse.” I said. 

“Tiyanna, I had to block my emotions from you and anyone around me. It had to look real or else she really won’t open up to me. I can’t be the Cameron you’ve come to know darling. As long as I’m dealing with her, I will have to be the Alpha Cameron that has a ruthless reputation among our kind. I’m sorry for hurting you, but I thought you knew that’s what was going to happen. We can’t get in our feelings if we are to accomplish our goal. You’re going to have to be that woman that I met in Red Dawn pack. You can’t see me as your mate when we’re around her.” He says bluntly and he’s right. 

“I know. You’re right. We have to find Conrad and bring him to justice for murdering my parents and all of his other crimes. He cannot roam around free.” I say to him.
