Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate Chapter 48: Alpha Cameron's Vengeful Mate
After leaving the meeting and talking to Tiyanna, I had other business to attend to at the prison. We have dungeons within the pack grounds but those are solely for pack members that break the rules. The prison is for those rogue wolves that break the law by trespassing onto my lands and for hard criminals. Like humans, we have a few bad apples within our society as well. Murderers, rapists, kidnappers, child abusers, drug dealers and even traffickers are among those types, and I don’t stand for any of it within my territory. I’ve been known to lend a hand to others that have these problems as well.
Once we reached the prison, I went straight to the holding cells and to the very last one on the right. This particular prisoner is supposed to have information on who is behind the rebellion against me. He has given names to Talon already about some of the lower-level people involved, but I'm not interested in them. I want the big fish. Once you chop the head off the snake, the body dies but I plan on chopping the entire snake up. When I’m done the message will be clear about sending anyone after me or mine ever again. Maybe once all of this is cleared up, I’ll even consider taking Tiyanna as my rightful mate. “Woah! Where did that thought come from?” I asked myself. That must be my wolf influencing my thoughts. Yeah, that has to be it. “Think again human. That was all you.” says my wolf before he fades away again.
“I’m starting to think that taking her into my pack was not such a good idea. Why did I let Talon and this mate bond talk me into doing that?” I ask myself before straightening my shoulders and walking into the cell.
“My name is Alpha Cameron, and this can go one of two ways. One, you can tell me what I want to know and live out the rest of your miserable life in these cells without fearing for your life or the second choice which is me beating and torturing you until eventually you beg for death. Which do you choose? I do hope that you pick the second choice because honestly it has been a while since I’ve been able to use my skills.” I say with a smirk and watch as the guy visibly shakes with fear.
“I choose the first option. I’ll tell you what you want to know. My name is Tanner, and I wasn’t always a rogue. My family and I were once a part of the Red Dawn pack, but things started to go downhill after the Beta family was murdered.” My head snaps up when he says the last part and I stop him before he goes on further.
“Murdered? What the hell do you mean they were murdered? I thought they were killed defending the Alpha and Luna of that awful pack.” I asked.
“No sir, they were murdered. That’s why my family and some others left that pack. We knew the truth, but nobody would listen to us. We told the pack council, and they said to keep our mouths shut and to stop spreading rumors.”
“How did you know the truth when their own daughter doesn’t?” I needed to get to the bottom of this as well as the rebellion against me. Were they linked in any way?
“I was once a warrior in that pack, and I saw everything. They expected us to retreat and some of us were retreating into the trees to lure them into a trap, but when they were almost there, the Alpha told us to stand down, well he told all of us but the Beta pair and a few others. Now that I think about it, those warriors were loyal to the Betas and had come with them from their original pack. It never dawned on me back then to ask what the Luna was doing with us in battle. She never came with us saying that fighting wasn’t what Lunas did. She said her job was to entertain and take care of finances which translates to spending all the packs’ money. They are so deep in debt that they borrowed money from other packs to keep up appearances but it got so bad they weren’t able to pay back the loans. Many of those packs threatened to go to war with them if they didn’t pay back the money and of course they cut ties with them as allies. He at least wasn’t stupid enough to ask you for money or help. Anyway, the only ones with enough money to bail them out of debt were...”
“The Beta couple.”
“The Beta couple.” we both said together.
