Before I could even form a response, a series of loud thumps and frantic barking erupted from outside. We both snapped our heads to the door of the theater room. The room was soundproof, so I couldn't clearly understand the shouting and yelling.

Nicholas’s jaw tightened as if he already knew who was outside causing the commotion.

"Stay here," he ordered, his voice clipped.

"Wait!" I grabbed his arm, "I'm not staying put."

He hesitated, his gaze softening for a moment. "Stay here, Florence, please…" he said, his voice gruff but laced with concern.

I reluctantly nodded, “O-okay.”

Then, with that he left the room, leaving me alone. Part of me was so uneasy that I began pacing in my place, biting my nails.

“Argh” I grumbled and went to the door. Using my werewolf hearing, I tried my best to focus on the conversation outside.

An uneasy feeling sank into my stomach when I heard an eerily familiar.

"You will answer for this betrayal, Alpha! You break your promise, toy with my daughter's heart, and expect no consequences?"

“What’s that?” I muttered to myself.

"I indeed promised Samantha that she would become my Luna back then when she was still my girlfriend, but that promise was broken when she cheated on me.”

“ALPHA! WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?! SHE WOULD NEVER CHEAT ON YOU!”

“I think Samantha didn't tell you, but she did cheat on me. It is also true that I did consider her to be my Luna after 10 years, but it will only happen if she still displays appropriate behaviors expected for a Luna. Also, I already found my mate”

I gasped in shock after I heard Nicholas. Is he seriously revealing who I am to them?

Then I recognized Samantha’s voice, “What do you mean?”

“I already found my mate, and she will be my Luna.”

"Lies! You can't just remove Samantha as your Luna!"

“I can, after all, we agreed on this condition,” Nicholas said with his still indifferent tone.

Then the woman’s voice came again, “Then who is she? Some whore?!”

“If I were you, I would watch my mouth,” Nicholas growled.

I don't know what’s gotten into me, but I couldn't just stand there. So before I could think twice, I walked to the living room only to find Nicholas. Behind him were Layla, Gayle, and Isaac, while Samantha, who was in a rather disheveled state, was already crying and fuming in anger.

Beside her was a beautiful middle-aged woman with dark blonde hair and bright hazel eyes. We have the same features—hair, eyes—

My eyes widened as I recognized the woman, her presence sending a shockwave through my entire being. I froze in place as childhood flashbacks invaded my mind. Those blonde hair and hazel eyes always looked at me with anger. Suddenly, I wanted to just die right then and there. I should not have stepped outside. I should have stayed. I am shaking so badly my heart beating loudly in my ears. Nasya tried to talk to me, but I couldn't process anything.

Because the Lycan woman in front of me was my mother who abandoned me when I was a child.

My gaze went to Samantha. I don't know how much more I can take when I realize that Samantha was the one she called daughter. Their resemblance was uncanny, and only Samantha's eyes were different. Samantha was my stepsister.

My biological mother turned her attention toward me. The recognition in her eyes mirrored the shock I felt. The night air seemed to thicken with tension as our eyes locked. My mother’s anger momentarily gave way to surprise, and I could sense the gears turning in her mind.

Nicholas turned to see my frozen form, “Florence, I told you not to go out,” he scolded, walking towards me. In the corner of my eyes, I saw Layla and Gayle walking towards me as well.

My throat constricted, and I couldn't find my voice as I looked at my mother. It was the look of dawning comprehension that flickered across her eyes, mirrored in my own.

"Fl-Florence?" she breathed, her voice a mix of disbelief and something I couldn't quite decipher. "Is…is that you?"

Fear and panic warred within me. I looked away and turned around when Nicholas spoke.

“You knew her?” he asked sharply.

“No,” I quickly replied, clenching my fist. “She didn’t.”

My mother's hazel eyes, like mine, shifted from Nicholas back to me, her recognition piercing. She suddenly glared, her burning gaze singling me out.

"What is she to you, Alpha? Is she the reason you rejected Samantha?" she sneered, “Is she your… mate?”

Nicholas stepped dangerously forward towards my mother, “I don't think you have—”

My mother suddenly laughed, and I knew I was in trouble. I knew what would happen next. It was the end for me. Her laugh echoed menacingly in the room.

“Do you know who she is? Does anyone here have any idea who that woman is?!”

“What the heck are you talking about?!” Nicholas seethed.

Layla stepped protectively in front of me, “What are you on about, Madame Sarah?”

As a spy, there have been moments where I felt close to being exposed. They always say, to find even the smallest chance to hide or escape, and for years, I did. I successfully did. But right now, I don't think I can hide anymore. I think I've exhausted all my luck.

Perhaps those few days of happiness were just granted to me before being snatched away in an instant.

My mother pointed at me, her voice laced with hatred.

"THAT WOMAN. THE WOMAN BEHIND YOU IS NONE OTHER THAN A HYBRID! THE DAUGHTER OF A MAD ROGUE—FRANCIS LANCASTER!" she shouted angrily, nearly making me flinch.

The revelation hung in the air like a heavy fog, enveloping everyone in suffocating silence. The room fell into a deafening quiet while I stood frozen in place, my heart pounding loudly in my chest. Tears threatened to spill from my eyes. My throat tightened, and I began to shake from the flood of emotions—pain, fear, betrayal, disappointment, and shock. It was all too much.

Samantha's eyes widened in disbelief, her earlier anger replaced by shock as she looked at me. I stood there, my truth laid bare for all to see.

It was Isaac who angrily broke the silence, “WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE YOUR NONSENSE?!”

It was the first time I saw Isaac faltered.

My mother smirked at me, her gaze devoid of any maternal warmth. It cut deep, the pain of being despised by my own flesh and blood. I thought I had escaped that cage of hatred, but it turns out I never truly did. My heart felt like it was being crushed into pieces.

“I know that much because I am her mother. I can never forget that face. Her eyes might be from me, but the way she stares, the way she looks at me, the way her emotions just shut off—she gets it all from his insane and filthy bastard father!” she gritted.

Layla turned to me, her mouth wide open in shock. She took a step back, tears welling up in her eyes.

“If you’re that hybrid…. oh my god…” she stammered between sobs. “Then you are…..Veilios.”
