My voice cut through the tension like a sharp blade, slashing through the stunned silence. All eyes turned towards me, and a wave of shock and fear swept across their faces, followed by hushed murmurs asking who I was.

Taking deliberate steps forward, I kept my gaze fixed on Samantha, who was now glaring at me with undisguised hostility.

"Why are you still here?" Samantha snapped, her tone dripping with venom. "And why do you even care? You're not even a fcking Lycan."

"Nicholas asked me to stay," I calmly stated, maintaining eye contact with Samantha's stern gaze.

"Don't address Nicholas by his name. You don't have the right,"

"Well, Nicholas doesn't seem to mind," I shrugged nonchalantly. "But I'm pretty sure he'd mind you hitting someone over a sheet."

Samantha's glare intensified as if she could burn me to ashes with just her gaze. This was her true self, revealed in all its malevolence.

"It's not just a sheet. It's an expensive one!"

I raised a brow, "Does that justify hitting someone?"

Glancing at the staff members, I redirected their attention, "Instead of staring, why not check out the pack center? There's a store selling fabrics there. They might have the same color, good material too."

“Uhm…yes..of course,” one of them stammered.

The atmosphere held a tense stillness as the staff members were about to leave when Samantha's voice cut through the air, making them freeze in their tracks.

"Why are you following her? She has no position in the pack."

A brief hush fell upon the room, all eyes shifting between Samantha and me.

"Actually, I have," I announced confidently, "I'm your Alpha King’s mistress."

Audible gasps echoed in the hall as the maids and staff looked at me in shock. The surprise in their eyes suggested they found it unexpected for someone to hold that title with pride. Frankly, I felt the same, but I could play the part. The title didn't bother me as long as it fueled Samantha's anger.

"And what about you, Samantha? What's your position in the pack?" I added.

Samantha laughed, shaking her head. "What a lame position you have while I'm the next Luna."

"Has Nicholas announced it himself?"

A nearby maid shook her head, and a sense of satisfaction washed over me. Samantha noticed it and threw a pointed glare at the maid before facing me.

“Everyone here knows that I am their next Luna. There’s no need for Nicholas to announce it,”

"It doesn't matter; you still have no official position here, just some long-time knowledge. So, we're on the same level."

Samantha marched towards me, fist clenched, and eyes dangerously shifting from blue to gold, a sign of her wolf close to emerging.

“I WILL MAKE YOU SHUT UP, B*TCH!” she growled, her nails instantly turning into claws.

I stood my ground, waiting for her to come close, while my wolf—Nasya—lurked in the corner of my mind. Before Samantha could act on her rage, a very familiar voice cut through the air.

“I would think twice if I were you, Samantha.”

Samantha suddenly stopped, snapping her head to the door. I did the same and immediately frowned upon seeing Gayle walking towards us.

“Gayle?” Samantha murmured, shocked.

“Hurt her, and I will be forced to stop you,” Gayle dangerously added. Her face was far from her usual expression; it was deadly and lethal.

Samantha’s jaw clenched. “And now you are here defending her?! Gayle, I can't believe you are choosing her over me!”

“I don't choose, Samantha; I follow orders.”

Samantha's eyes widened, and she swallowed hard. “No…Nicholas won’t give you orders to defend her, right?”

I walked towards Samantha, sensing Gayle standing close to me. Leaning in, I murmured softly in her ear, "If you're curious about what would happen, you can try."

Moving away from her, my arms behind my back, I smiled sweetly while she threw a glare at me.

“I will not let this slide,” she gritted through clenched teeth before storming out.

My gaze went cold, looking at the old woman named Olga, who followed Samantha like a dog. Before they could leave the hall, I spoke, directing my words to the old woman.

“If you can't take responsibility, isn't it best for you to retire?” I coldly said.

Olga just scowled at me before scrambling to follow Samantha. I sighed, shaking my head. A devoted minion then. Turning my attention to the remaining maids, I offered a reassuring smile.

"Carry on with your tasks," I softly said.

Lena and the young girl approached me, bowing. "Thank you," Lena expressed.

I reached out to gently ruffle the young girl's hair. "It's okay, don't worry about it."

With a nod and another smile, I bid them farewell and left the hall. As I stepped outside, I sensed Gayle's presence behind me. Walking a bit further from the hall, I turned to face her.

"Why are you following me? Nicholas said I could explore alone."

Gayle met my gaze with a grin. "Oh, I was just passing by," she replied casually.

Her response brought me more at ease, knowing that her presence was coincidental, and that she was not tailing me.

Unable to suppress my curiosity, I asked, "Do you know what's going on with Olga and Samantha? That old woman seems like her devoted sidekick."

“Oh, Samantha’s mother was the one who convinced the Alpha to let Olga work for him. Since then, she has supervised the maids since she was the oldest around here.”

“Is that so?” I shrugged, "Anyways, is Nicholas in his office?"

"No, he left to meet someone outside the pack."

"Alright, thank you."

With a wave, I bid her goodbye. As she left, I resumed my exploration. The silence around me was both eerie and fascinating. It allowed my thoughts to drift freely. As I wandered through the castle's corridors for about 10 minutes, I realized two things. The estate was so big and had a lot of twists and turns. Second, there were no maids or anyone I saw around. They seem to settle in specific areas.

“Wait” I blurted out as realization sank in.

There is no one around, which means I can move freely. With that thought, I made up my mind. It would be less suspicious if she did something today since she was ‘exploring the premises’. And sneaking into Nicholas's office seemed like a better plan.
