The Alpha King's Mistress Chapter 14: Don't You Dare

**Florence**

"Come here, Florence, “ Nicholas ordered once the door was shut.

I raised a brow, feeling suspicious, "Why?"

The moment I saw the small briefcase, my heart hammered against my chest. There was only one man who was playing in my mind—Keith Caldwell, the man who trained me into a spy and into his tool to achieve his goals. That horrible man was the one who raised me after my father died. My training included learning to tolerate the effects of silver and to pay attention to how each substance affected my body. That man would appear carrying a briefcase and a syringe was properly stored inside to pierce my body. And my innocent, dumb self just let that man do it to me.

And I highly doubted this was different from that.

“What the hell was inside that case?” I growled, taking a wary step back.

Does he truly not care about me?

Nasya, my wolf, had resurfaced after sensing the threat. I and my wolf both had similar recollections of injections, which was one of our deepest fears. This time, even though we were confronting our mate, my wolf didn't turn against me but instead became very wary.

Nicholas lifted an eyebrow in confusion at my response, but he didn't pay attention and continued, "I don't need to explain anything to you. You have caused enough trouble for me, so just follow my orders peacefully”

"Don't you dare," I warned.

"And what? You can’t shift and you have no wolf. You can't inflict a minor cut on me," he said, holding my gaze.

“Damn you!”

He simply stares at me with a challenging look, “One last chance, come forward, Florence. Do what I say while I am speaking nicely”

“There's no way I will do that” I gritted. His words stung but it was true at the same time. I couldn't possibly harm him.

“You really have a way of snapping my patience,” Nicholas said darkly.

"I am here with you already! What more do you want? And I can't escape for Pete's sake so there was no need for whatever was in that damned case!" I growled and started to panic as I took another step back.

Before I could blink and take another step backward, Nicholas was in front of me and grabbed my neck.

He growls dangerously. "Watch your tone"

Instinctively, I grabbed his wrist and attempted to tear it off of me. He didn't budge at all despite my efforts to push him away. It was pointless. I clawed at his hand in a fit of panic, but he just pushed me to the bed. The bed dipped at our weight as he put his torso firmly on my waist and thighs, preventing me from using my legs and his hand on my neck while his other hand snatched both of my arms and forced them above my head. His size loomed over my small form. To make my situation worse, he used only one hand to lock both my wrists.

Dang it!

When I saw the briefcase was already opened and Isaac was walking towards us holding a syringe with a clear liquid inside, my hazel eyes widened with horror.

“GET OFF ME!” she screamed, trying to pull her hand.

But their difference in strength just slapped me in the face. He was damn strong.

“I will kill you if you let that on my skin!”

“I would like to see you try” Nicholas shot back, putting more pressure on my hand.

"Don't. Stop. No, no, please" I yelled, resorting to pleading.

In the moment of my panic, and fear, I can feel Nasya forcing control over my body.

Not yet.

I could feel my eyes shifting into my wolf's actual eyes and I was forced to tightly close my eyes. It was a big risk if they saw it.

‘Stop, Nasya!' I beseeched my wolf.

'But you are hurting. Let me take over'

‘No, don’t. We can't’

‘But Florence….’

'We can't, Nasya,' I defeatedly replied to my wolf.

I felt that my wolf was slowly pulling back so I opened her eyes, certain that I still had my haze-colored eyes only to see Isaac giving the syringe to Nicholas.

"PLEASE DON'T!" I screamed, feeling Isaac grab my left hand and force it down. “Nicholas, please, no!”

Nicholas’s hand stopped midair for a second and glanced at me.

“Please, don’t,” I said weakly.

I thought he changed his mind. I hoped for a split second but I should have known better. With nothing but mischievousness dancing in his green eyes, he brought the needle to my skin.

“Please…” I thrashed on their hold but the moment the tip of the needle touched my skin, I knew it was over.

I felt the liquid rush to my veins. It only takes seconds until I writhe in pain. I was sure this was to make me pass out. It was lighter than the ones I used to but it brought the same feeling of weariness to my body.

As though my energies were being taken away, my body lay limp. My thoughts were foggy, and my eyelids felt heavy. My lips are wounded as my canines were almost visible earlier and accidentally cut my lips.

A tear rolled down my eyes. I spoke weakly.

"I really hate you " and I was forced to submit to darkness for the second time.

**Nicholas**

I gave the syringe to Isaac who walked toward the briefcase and put it back inside. I looked at Florence, wiping the tears that slipped from her eyes.

"You should," I mumbled.

I tucked a strand of her dark blonde hair behind her ear before I put my arms on her back and legs, lifting her easily. I carried her outside the plane with Isaac behind me. I saw my warriors and my friend—Derrick waiting for us outside the plane. Upon seeing me, my men began to open the door of one of the SUVs.

Derrick gives me that knowing look, “She is the one, right?”

“She is” I looked at the woman in my arms, her cheek pressed to my chest.

Derrick simply nodded with an amused smirk on his face as I entered the car.

“See you again, Your Highness” he bowed.

“Stop by the pack once in a while,” I said.

“I will, Alpha,” Derrick said before one of my men closed the door.
