The Alpha King's Mistress Chapter 64: Phone
**Florence**
“Just leaving me after that stunt huh” I muttered through gritted teeth.
Heading into my bedroom, I shut the door, needing some space to think things through. Thoughts whirled around in my head as I paced back and forth, trying to make sense of everything.
“Two weeks, two weeks” I ran my hands through my hair, “Damn. I need to figure something out in just 2 weeks”
My gaze landed on my phone. And one person crossed my mind.
“Percival '' I whispered, grabbing my phone but remembering that it was from Layla, there was a possibility it was tracked or bugged.
Nicholas might have put something in my phone that can track whoever I contact. I let out a frustrated sigh and thought some more. If I can't use my phone, then I will need to use someone else's phone.
The next morning, when I arrived at the flower shop, I got an early start on cleaning and arranging the flowers. Sammy walked in, and I greeted her warmly.
“Morning, Sammy”
"Hey there, you're here early today," Sammy said, waving at me as she entered the shop.
"Yep, just felt like getting a head start,"
Sammy chuckled, “Wow, you're stealing my best employee award in that case”
I smiled at her, continuing on my cleaning agenda. Sammy reappeared from the locker room, going straight to the counter.
“Have you seen the town?” she suddenly asked.
“Well, no. I take the other route. Why?”
Sammy sighed, “Well, it was an extra busy day since some of our members were scrambling to prepare for a dinner party and the visit of the Werewolf Council two weeks from now”
I glanced at her, surprised that she already knew, “How did you know that?”
She grinned at me, winking, “Well, rumors spread fast here like the fact that you and the Alpha are seen near the cliff”
That takes the cake. We didn't notice someone saw us.
“What? How….”
Sammy laughed, “Well, someone accidentally went there because he was hunting and saw you and Alpha but he quickly left. Dont worry, that was Alpha’s place. No one would dare disturb the two of you or even think of going there without the Alpha’s permission. It’s his place after all”
“I'm not.... really worried,” I said reluctantly.
“That's good because there is nothing to be worried about” Sammy giggled, “We are really delighted to hear the rumors since the Alpha doesn't bring just anyone there. I think you're the first mistress he brought there”
I do not know if I should be honored or offended at that. But I just smiled at Sammy, ignoring the information she just dropped on me. I still have pressing matters to think of.
……..
When the customer left and it was our time for a quick break, I saw Sammy eating her snack. I decided that it was time to set my plan into action.
“Did you prepare that?” I asked Sammy who was happily eating her sandwich.
“Yup, do you want one?”
“No, I'm good. I'm quite full at the snack I eat” I sat on the bench and picked up my bag, acting like I was searching for something.
“Shit, my phone” I exclaimed.
I stand up, acting like checking my pants pocket and looking under the chair. Sammy looked at me with concern. And I push my dramatic acting to the final touches. I slumped back on the bench, dragging the bag to my lap and acting like I still looking for it.
“What’s wrong?” Sammy asked, concern laced her voice.
I leaned my head on the cold wall and glanced at her with a crestfallen face. “I can't find my phone. I promise to call someone today”
“Maybe you just left it in your house”
“No. I am sure I brought it with me. I even used its flashlight to look at my car earlier since it suddenly stopped on my way here”
Sammy suddenly snapped her fingers, “That’s it! Maybe you forgot it there. Did you put it on the ground or the hood?”
I thought for a moment even though my excuse was pure lies.
“Shit. I think I lost it. I remember putting it on the ground and…” I ran my hands through my hair, acting frustrated, “Shit. I think I really forgot it and only picked the keys”
"That sucks”
I sighed, “Yeah…I mean Layla bought it for me”
“You know, there's that store downtown where you can buy one."
Feigning reluctance, I responded, "I'm not keen on buying one right now. I'd rather not be seen around people today, especially after yesterday's incident."
I hoped my excuse would nudge Sammy towards lending me her phone.
Unexpectedly, she brightened up and exclaimed, "Actually, I have a spare phone you can use!"
“No, no. it's okay, I will just buy…maybe a few days”
Sammy began rummaging on her bag, “C'mon, Florence. You said you promised to call someone. They must be expecting your call”
As soon as she found it, she extended it towards me. I looked at it for a moment even though I wanted to take it from her hand instantly.
“Are you sure?”
Sammy smiled at me, “Yeah, I am 100% sure”
I accepted the spare phone she offered. "Thank you so much, Sammy. I really appreciate it. I will give it back to you as soon as I buy a new one"
"Don't worry about it. I hardly ever use it anyway. You can hang onto it for as long as you need."
With a sense of relief, I knew I could finally reach out to Percival without raising any suspicions.
As the afternoon approached, I waved goodbye to Sammy, watching her car disappear from view.
"Okay, time to make a call later," I muttered.
I walked towards my car, but the uneasy feeling that someone was watching me crawled on my skin again. I ignored it and continued walking, my hand instinctively reaching into my jeans pocket for my car keys. I look up at the darkened sky. It looks like it will rain anytime soon now.
