The Alpha King's Mistress Chapter 131: -The End-

Keith let out a cruel laugh. "I used all my strongest rogues to deal with the Lycans," he said, his voice dripping with satisfaction. "And your dear Nicholas... Well, let's just say he put up a good fight. The man was a monster indeed. His regenerating ability was remarkable"

My gaze fell upon the jacket he wore, a small device embedded in one of the pockets like a dark eye staring back at me.

"Is that the button?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. My eyes seem lifeless.

Keith raised an eyebrow, a knowing smirk playing on his lips. He nodded curtly.

"The button for the chips in the rogues? Yes. One press, and they all die a quick, painless death. Useful to threaten them to do something"

My face was cold and unreadable as I turned to him, watching him light his cigarette.

“Want some?” he offered.

I reached for the cigarette he offered, lighting it. As I inhaled, a single thought echoed in my mind: everything had to end.

“You know you need to cooperate with the procedures right? My men would need your blood from time to time to be experimented on so prepare yourself” he continued, watching the same thing I am looking at—the Cliff where Nicholas was still standing, looking at us.

"Keith," I said, my voice cold, "Your main hideout, still in Japan?"

He chuckled, taking another drag, "Indeed it is. I stayed there because that’s the only place you can't hack into"

I nodded, letting out another puff of smoke, “It's because I don't know the four last numbers”

He laughed, “You're still an amateur, aren't you? It's 4589. I know you would consider the fact I don't repeat my passwords and all, but I repeat one time and that is that number. Just like the saying, you can't outdo the doer”

"Well," I continued, my voice gaining strength with every word, "I can certainly end the doer though."

Keith's smirk faltered, replaced by a flicker of confusion. Before he could react, I snatched the gun from its holster on the side of the helicopter, honed reflexes taking over.

The roar of the helicopter blades was momentarily drowned out by the sharp crack of the gunshot that echoed through the air. I knew the bullet was made of silver. Keith screamed, clutching his leg as the bullet tore through his flesh. I stood up, cigarette still pressed between my lips as I shot Keith again both to his shoulders, making him squirm.

“WHAT THE FCK IS WRONG WITH YOU?!” he shouted in pain.

Panic surged through the pilot's eyes. He lunged towards me, but his movement was clumsy, predictable. Another shot, this time to the head, and he slumped onto the control panel, his eyes wide as blood drips to the floor.

“YOU BITCH! ARE YOU CRAZY?! I WILL KILL YOU!” Keith shouted through the pain.

“It is me who will kill you,” I replied.

The sudden turn of events left the helicopter teetering precariously in the air. My gaze remained fixed on the clearing below. There, Nicholas stood with other Lycans surrounded by a growing pack of rogues. Five against ten, the odds were stacked against him.

“Did you really think I would come at you willingly to be your test subject? You fcking idiot. Do you really think I would let you hurt any werewolf or rogues for long? Didn't I tell you I would kill you the moment I had a chance?” I added darkly.

“YOU BITCH! I RAISED YOU AND FEED YOU AND THIS IS WHAT YOU WILL DO TO ME!” Keith tried to bargain, “Listen, Florence, all you need to do is to be a test subject and I promise you, you will be the strongest among us, surpassing the Lycans even more! So, listen to me and save me huh? I am your only ally, Florence, so you should listen to me!”

My finger hovered over the button. This single press wouldn't just end Keith's life, it would end the lives of all the rogues controlled by his chips. But as I looked down at the clearing, my resolve hardened. The rogues run towards the Lycans and Nicholas.

“I have no ally, Keith. Florence, Makayla, or Veilos have no ally” I whispered emotionless.

With a deep breath, I pressed the button and I watched as the rogues froze mid-attack then their bodies collapsing onto the ground like puppets whose strings had been severed.

The aircraft was getting far from the clearing and Nicholas' view staring at our direction was starting to get blurry.

Keith's eyes bulging in a mix of rage and terror, “I WILL KILL YOU, YOU WHORE!”

I knew he was about to shift to his wolf form. Before he could transform, I aimed the gun with a steady hand and fired a single shot into his stomach. He crumpled to the floor, a painful scream escaping his lips.

"Not so fast," I said, my voice surprisingly calm, "You get to wait a little longer for your demise."

Ignoring his whimpers and pleas, I grabbed his phone from his pocket and dialed a number. After one ring, Quin's worried voice filled the speaker.

"Florence? Where are you?" his voice crackled with concern.

Taking a deep breath, I spoke, “In the air”

“What the heck Florence?! Tell me where you are and we will go there, please!”

I swallowed the lump in my throat, “Japan, and I finally know now the last four digits—4859. Locate and hack it, you will find Keith’s main operations there” my voice strong and clear.

A scream tore through the phone, a sound filled with raw emotion. "WHAT IS HAPPENING FLORENCE! TELL ME WHERE THE HECK ARE YOU?!"

"Tell me you're recording," I said, my voice breaking.

“Florence—”

I cut him off , “I need an answer Quinn”

Silence, then a shaky voice echoed on the other line, "Yes, I'm recording."

My grip on the phone tightened as tears started to welled up in my eyes. I bit my lip as I spoke, "I’m sorry and I love you, Nicholas, I love you," I whispered the words as a silent message for him to hear over the distance.

“NO—”

Then, with a click, I ended the call. The weight of the confession settled heavily upon me. The helicopter sputtered and lurched. It wouldn't be long before it gave out completely. But that was no longer my concern.

“I guess it’s just you and me huh? Like from the very beginning,” I smirked at Keith who was now bathing in his own blood and the color had gone to his face.

I retrieved the bag in the corner and retrieved the syringes with the label silver. I took 5 of them. My hands trembled, not with fear, but with a cold resolve as I injected all of it into Keith. This final act, this final line drawn in the sand, was a choice I had made years ago.

“What are you doing?! Get away from me!” Keith, his screams now replaced by a ragged panting, watched me with wide, desperate eyes. He knew what was coming.

He began to convulse, cough with blood and his veins started to turn black followed by his horrifying scream of pain but I ignored him. It's like an acid starting to burn his body from the inside. His skin and flesh started to burn.

“H-he-help” he pleaded, blood running down his nose.

I inhaled from my cigarette for the last time, the cherry light glowing like an ember in the fading light, “This is the end for the both of us, Keith. You and the spy named Makayla Ellis, Veilos, and Florence Lancaster”

Ignoring the burning wreckage of the helicopter and the chilling emptiness in the pit of my stomach, I grabbed the oxygen tank and adjusted the straps. I flicked it onto the floor, a silent farewell.

I looked one last time at Keith who was convulsing and hand reaching towards me. Taking a deep breath, I throw my cigarette on the floor and jump out of the helicopter. As I descended through the air, the wind whistling in my ears, I raised the gun, a cold, metallic weight in my hand, and fired directly at the helicopter.

Each bullet that left the chamber wasn't just aimed at the failing aircraft, but at the darkness that had consumed me, at the fear that had fueled my choices. With every resounding boom, a weight lifted from my shoulders, replaced by a quiet acceptance of the path I had chosen.

As the helicopter exploded in a fiery ball, painting the sky with a fleeting orange glow, I knew this was the end for me—to a spy and a hybrid like me.

It was the end for the names and identities I had—Veilios, Makayla Ellis, and Florence Lancaster.

I close my eyes, hoping that in her other life, she could live normally and meet her soulmate again.
