The tension between us was cut by a loud pounding on the door and the urgent voice behind the barrier.

"Alpha, I need to talk to you right now"

"Stay there. No one will enter yet" Nicholas sternly commanded; jaw clenched.

He looked at me with his thick brows pinched together.

"Get dressed," his voice rough and strained.

I didn't need to be told twice. I quickly picked up my clothes and got dressed all while feeling the burning gaze of Nicholas. But I didn't dare to meet his eyes.

"I'm done now" I informed, smoothing the dress.

Nicholas throws a black coat on the floor. "Cover yourself with that. You're showing too much skin. I don't want others to see what's mine"

I stop myself from saying a good and truth slapping come back that I was not his. Instead, I marched toward the coat and picked it up, realizing that it smelt like him.

No matter how much I didn't want to smell his intoxicating scent anymore, I had no choice but to wear the coat. It reaches my ankle. I gripped the coat tighter to my body, pushing back the thoughts of my heated interaction with Nicholas. It was my first time being completely bare to someone.

Even though I did some daring missions, I never slept with someone. I avoided it at all costs.

Despite the uneasiness, a part of me was glad that I did it in front of him because he was my mate.

"Come in," Nicholas finally ordered when I was finished.

I kept my gaze averted until the double door behind me suddenly opened, allowing a tall guy and three guards to enter. The tall man had black curly hair almost fully covering a radiant face and lidded brown eyes.

The four men looked at me before Nicholas's harsh voice grabbed their attention.

"Guards, bring her back to the jail cell,"

The three guards nodded and one of them held my upper arm. The guard was about to tug me outside but I pulled my arm away and shot him a glare.

"I can walk on my own," I hissed.

When the guards were about to hold me again, Nicholas spoke. “Let her”

The guards bowed their heads and just opened the door wider.

I glance at Nicholas, surprised by his command of the guard before walking to the door. Before I stepped outside, I heard the other man speak.

"Is she the one?"

"Stop asking, Clifford, what do you need?" Nicholas asked impatiently.

"We need to go to the Swiftmane Pack. They found traces that someone must have survived and managed to escape" the man earnestly uttered.

It was the last thing I heard before the door was shut. I walked straight, not daring to look back while two guards were behind me and the other one was leading the way.

I smirked as realization dawned on me. Nicholas already knew what happened to the Swiftmane Pack. The fact that they easily found traces of someone who escaped made me a little impressed. It was fast even though only a week had just passed.

But it also sent another message. Sara successfully escapes. I breathed in relief. That little girl was safe.

Now, all I needed was to plan my escape.
