I gotta admit, leaving that castle was a huge relief. I sauntered out after what felt like an eternity. My dress and hair were all over the place.

And those guards, they definitely heard something—they had that knowing look plastered on their faces. Frustration boiled inside me as I adjusted my dress and hair, attempting to regain some sense of composure while walking. But truth be told composure was the last thing I had in my mind. It was one of those moments when you wish you could just disappear, especially when you know the guards are well aware of the drama that unfolded inside.

Finally getting into my car was like a sprint to freedom. I didn't waste a second. I hit the pedal hard, speeding away from that castle and straight to my cabin, desperate to put some distance between me and Nicholas.

My butt was still burning and my panty rubbing on my center added to my frustration from how still sensitive I am. I can still feel his palm on me while his long thick fingers inside me.

“Fck” I grumbled, shaking those thoughts out of my head.

The engine roared as I raced away. When I reached my house, I practically sprinted into my cabin, eager to take a bath. Without wasting a moment, I peeled off the clothes and stepped into the bathroom. The sound of the shower seemed like a relief as I turned it on, the warm water cascading down my body.

But as the water trickled down, my mind kept replaying the events at the castle. It was like a reel on repeat, each scene etched vividly in my thoughts.

I took a deep breath, forcing a self-reflection, “Don't get carried away in those touches, Florence Lancaster. You are a pro at this. You can brush that off. You've got this”

After almost an hour of staying and talking to myself in the shower when my fingers got wrinkled, I slipped into a cozy tank top and shorts.

I stepped into the living room wanting to drink water when I froze in sheer disbelief. There, in the middle of the kitchen, was Nicholas, seemingly at ease as he effortlessly maneuvered around the stove.

He was wearing a casual white black t-shirt and jeans now. I felt a blush creeping on my cheeks at the sight of him but I immediately erased unwanted thoughts.

"Hold up, when did you get in here?" I blurted out, completely shocked.

Nicholas turned, giving me his famous shrug, "I let myself in a little while ago," he replied casually, as if entering someone's home unannounced was the most natural thing in the world.

My mind struggled to process him being here. Oh right! He said that he would help me. But I never really hold on to those words.

As I scanned the living room, a realization struck me. There lay a scattering of carpentry tools.

"Wait, are those tools for… painting the bedroom?" I asked, my eyebrows arched in disbelief.

"Yes, I told you I would lend a hand with that," he explained, "But first, you should eat. You barely had anything earlier"

He was just answering me like nothing happened just an hour ago.

I frowned at him, looking at the food on the stove and back to him. Sure, I am still a little hungry since I didn't really have a good bite earlier because I was focused on annoying him but that plan didn't end well for me.

‘Really, Florence? You look like you're enjoying yourself earlier with his fingers inside—’ Nasya my wolf countered but I immediately blocked him out of my thoughts.

"I'm sorry, but why are you being... nice?" I blurted out.

Nicholas, for a moment, appeared taken aback by my question, his expression mirroring the surprise I felt. It was as though he didn't know he was being nice. But just as swiftly, he composed himself, and back that indifferent vibe of him.

"I am nice," he replied firmly.

Why does he sound like he is convincing himself?

“Well, I think we have different definitions of the word.” I was about to sit when I saw a thin pillow on it. I dont put those. “What the heck is this?”

“I brought that on my way here. I am sure your butt is stinging until now. Even though Otto told me that you can heal fine. I also bought an ointment, you can use it”

Otto? Oh, the pack doctor. As I had assumed, that doctor did report that information to him. I didn't reply and took a seat. Truth be told, the burning feeling was gone and just a little sting. There's no use for this but I cannot stop the smile forming on my lips at the gesture. But I also quickly held it back.

I simply stood there, watching Nicholas navigate through the kitchen with an ease that was both surprising and oddly captivating. The clinks of pots and the sizzle of food filled the air, and I couldn't help but observe his every move. It is the only few times we are not bickering or doing something that can make us hate each other.

When he finished, he arranged the dish with precision, placing it in front of me with a gentle gesture. As he readied himself to leave for the painting task, I couldn't hold back and ask, "Aren't you gonna eat?"

Nicholas turned, shaking his head, "Nah, I'm already full," he responded casually, leaving me alone at the table.

I rolled my eyes at him and wrapped up my meal in a hurry, eager to join him in the task of painting the walls. I am just not comfortable with eating while others are doing the task I am supposed to do.

Stepping into the room, I found him intensely focused on the task at hand, meticulously painting the walls with a concentration that surprised me.

This was a rare moment. One thing about me, I love taking pictures. I couldn't resist the urge to capture the moment. So, I sneakily pulled out my phone, aiming to take a quick picture of him, hoping to preserve the scene. Well, no one knows when she will be able to witness this side of him.

But just as I snapped the picture, without even glancing in my direction, he nonchalantly asked, "Did you just take a picture of me?"

Caught off guard, I swiftly hid my phone, my heart racing a mile a minute. "No, of course not. Why would I?"

Nicholas continued painting, his attention seemingly undisturbed by my failed attempt at discreetly taking a photo. I stood there, trying to act nonchalant. I just hoped he would buy me an excuse though.

Clearing my throat, I decided to break the uneasy silence. "So, um, I’ll start from here" I pointed to the other side of the wall, attempting to divert the attention away from my failed photography plan.

He paused for a moment, then glanced at me, “No, rest, Florence”

He is using my name too much.

“What? No, I want to help” I pressed and was about to pick up a paint roller when he pulled it away from my touch.

“I said rest”

I squinted my eyes at him, “Are you doubting my painting skills?”

He smirked but spoke calmly, “As much as I want that to be the reason, no. You've done enough renovating in this house, let me take over this one. Do whatever you want, watch TV, read, just let me do this one”

I stare at him, just mesmerized at the calmness of his face. Not too cold or expressionless like I normally see him, not too calculating or observing, just calm. He was just simply calm. His eyes showed something—relaxed and contentment. Warmth filled my heart and I was forced to look away and nod.

“But I don't want to do any of those''

He tilted his head, then looked at me, "How about you make me those chocolate cookies again instead?"

His unexpected request took me by surprise. Did I hear him right?

“You mean the one I gave to Jake?”

His mood suddenly changed at the mention of the name, looking away from me and resuming his work, “Yeah. You said you made it for me but you gave it to someone else. Next time, be true to your words”

I couldn't help but tease, a grin tugging at my lips. "Is someone feeling a bit jealous?"

Nicholas's swift denial was almost predictable. "No, not at all,"

"But you know you don't eat chocolate-flavored stuff"

To my surprise, Nicholas simply shrugged. "Well, I'd still like to give it a try," he said casually as if it were the most natural thing in the world.*
