After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 11
Vivian grabbed George's arm, looking confused. "Hey, George, where you headed?"
George paused, glancing back at Louisa. He noticed her outfit was different, not something she'd usually wear. Maybe it wasn't her after all.
Vivian tugged at his arm, teasing him. "Come on, George, quit staring. Let's go play golf. My brother's waiting for us."
George nodded, letting her lead him away.
...
Meanwhile, Louisa had just added a new contact on WhatsApp and slipped her phone back into her pocket. She turned to Julian and said, "I'll send you the money when I get home."
"Sure," he replied, keeping his cool.
They didn't chat much after that, and Louisa went off to find Flora.
Flora was on the tennis court with Wallace. Spotting Louisa, she came over with a playful nudge. "You and Mr. Tudor seemed pretty chummy. Is there something going on?"
Louisa shook her head slightly, keeping quiet with Wallace around.
Wallace grinned at her. "Ms. Forbes, it's a rare sight to see you here. Up for a match?"
Louisa smiled politely. "No, thanks. I'm not great at it, and I don't want to ruin the fun. Flora and I are heading out. Enjoy your game, Mr. Morgan and Mr. Tudor."
"Alright, catch you later," Wallace said, not pushing it.
Julian strolled over just then. Louisa gave him a polite nod before leaving with Flora.
Once they were away from the crowd, Flora couldn't hold back her curiosity. "So, spill it. Any luck with the Tudor Group?"
"Nope," Louisa answered firmly.
"What? Seriously?" Flora almost jumped. "Is Mr. Tudor blind? You're a knockout with a sharp business mind. How could he not be interested?"
Louisa chuckled, a bit exasperated. "It's not about that. Let's just go."
She wasn't desperate to join the Tudor Group; there were other fish in the sea.
Flora, however, wasn't as chill. "This isn't like you. Back when you were with George, you'd go all out to win clients and markets. There wasn't a project you couldn't land. Now, just 'cause someone says no, you're backing off?"
The more Flora thought about it, the more she felt it was unfair to her friend, all because of that jerk George.
She was fuming, but when she turned around, Louisa was no longer beside her.
Flora looked back and saw Louisa standing still, staring at something in the distance.
Curious, Flora walked over to see what had caught her attention, and there he was—George.
Few knew about Louisa and George's secret marriage, but Flora and Sadie did.
From afar, they saw George and Vivian on the grass, wrapped up in each other's arms. Vivian stood on tiptoe to kiss his neck, and he held her waist, enjoying the moment.
If it weren't for the crowd around them, you'd think they were about to get it on right there.
Flora was fuming, muttering under her breath, "Seriously, have they no shame?"
Did they really think Louisa was someone to mess with?
She rolled up her sleeves, ready to march over and give them a piece of her mind.
Louisa quickly stopped her. "Don't do anything crazy."
Flora stared at her in disbelief. "You're just gonna stand here and let this happen?"
"I have to. Otherwise, our two billion dollars will go down the drain," Louisa joked, though her eyes were cold.
She pulled out her phone, snapped a few pictures of George and Vivian kissing, then tugged Flora away.
She feared that if she watched any longer, she might actually throw up.
Flora watched her friend's calm demeanor, her heart aching. How much hurt and disappointment had Louisa endured to act so unaffected?
She didn't dare mention George again, nor did she want to bring up Julian.
Men were all jerks.
Back home, Louisa continued packing her things. She had bought a two-story apartment in a high-end complex downtown.
She was moving her stuff bit by bit, a little today, a little tomorrow, so George wouldn't notice.
Most of her things were already moved, except for the bags, jewelry, and clothes he had given her. She didn't want to take any of it, so she packed it all up and contacted a second-hand store to come pick it up.
There were about ten boxes in total.
As she scrolled through her phone, looking for job opportunities, she waited for the staff to arrive.
But before they did, George came home.
Seeing the pile of boxes in the living room, he casually opened one and found her bags. He opened another, finding jewelry. Another, limited edition dresses.
These were all things she once cherished.
A sudden panic gripped him as he looked at Louisa. "Why are you packing up all your bags and jewelry? What's going on?"
Louisa responded calmly, "These things are old. I don't want them anymore. I want to get new ones."
"All of them?" George frowned.
"Yes." She gave him a cool glance. "Got a problem with that?"
George didn't say anything. Her explanation was reasonable, but he knew she was someone who cherished memories.
Back when they first got married, the Capulet family was already in decline. He invested all his money into projects and couldn't even afford to buy her a decent piece of jewelry, so he made her a pearl bracelet with a string.
She treasured it like it was the most precious thing, taking it off even to wash her hands, afraid of getting it dirty.
Even when they had money and he bought her more expensive jewelry, she still cherished that pearl bracelet the most.
So why now, was she so willing to let it all go?
