After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 114

Louisa's greeting was impeccably polite, proper, and distant.

Dominic nodded in acknowledgment, glancing at the four bodyguards outside with a solemn expression.

He knew about what his wife Hazel and Vivian Price had done to his daughter-in-law at the club. No wonder she brought protection, treating the Capulets like potential criminals.

It seemed this marriage had lost all trust. The possibility of continuing it was low.

Still, Dominic maintained his composure, not immediately addressing the issue. Instead, he looked at her leg. Though he couldn't see the injury through her pants, he could imagine it was serious.

"Is your leg injured?" he asked with concern.

"I fell. It's nothing," Louisa replied flatly. Her manner made it clear she didn't want to discuss it further.

Dominic continued, "I heard you're no longer working at the Capulet Group. After being so busy, why not take some time to rest instead of rushing back to work? Wouldn't a vacation help clear your mind?"

"I'd love to travel, but your son refuses to finalize our divorce. I couldn't enjoy myself even if I went. Perhaps you could convince him to complete the divorce proceedings promptly. It would be better for everyone."

Louisa maintained her smile and polite tone, but she'd clearly abandoned the pretense of pleasantries, cutting straight to the point with decisive clarity.

Dominic didn't answer immediately. After a moment of thought, he looked at her seriously. "Can't you give George one more chance to make amends?"

Louisa smiled. "Mr. Capulet, surely by now you know what he's done? Is there really any point in giving him another chance?"

Dominic sighed. "I know you're the type who can't tolerate any wrongdoing. But realistically, life is long—is it possible to expect a man to have eyes only for you, completely immune to outside temptations?

"Moreover, even if George doesn't pursue other women, with his qualities, how can you prevent women from throwing themselves at him? I'm not just defending my son. Having seen so much in life, I can say George is actually quite decent. No matter what he does outside, he always puts you first in his heart.

"Now that he's completely cut ties with the Price daughter and wants to return to you, what's wrong with giving him another chance?"

This speech made Louisa laugh outright. But as she laughed, her smile turned cold. "Perhaps you're right. Most men are like that, George included. But I simply don't want him anymore."

Those last words, though calm as still water, carried absolute determination.

Dominic shook his head with a sigh. "Louisa, why must you be so stubborn?"

Louisa remained silent.

Dominic continued, "I know you've asked for three billion dollars in divorce compensation. How about this—If you don't divorce him, I'll give you four billion dollars. You can move into Capulet Manor immediately as George's legitimate wife. Any children you have with George will be the future heirs of the Capulet family. What do you think?"

Louisa raised an eyebrow. Honestly, she hadn't expected Dominic to offer such terms.

Thinking she was interested, Dominic added, "Don't be hasty. Think it through. Wouldn't swallowing your pride give you more in the end?"

To his surprise, Louisa smiled again. "I assume you haven't properly reviewed the Capulet Group's accounts."

"What?" Dominic didn't understand her meaning.

"If you haven't calculated it, let me do it for you," Louisa explained, her smile widening. "In my first year of marriage to George, I revolutionized the financial system with digital innovations. The business-finance integration system improved analytical efficiency by 300%, and the intelligent containment model for warning of raw material risks saved over two billion dollars in costs.

"In the second year, I built a global financial framework that supported the company's market value growth from tens of billions to hundreds of billions of dollars.

"In the third year, I signed multinational contracts at the summit that propelled the Capulet Group to the industry's pinnacle within a year. Of course, I wouldn't claim all the credit—George contributed, as did the team. But Mr. Capulet knows exactly how much I accomplished.

"In the fourth year, I expanded territories, creating the Capulet Group's own smart home brand, 'Aureleaf Haven.'

"Although from the fifth year onward I became George's personal secretary, everything I created continues to generate profits for the Capulet Group to this day.

"Now tell me, Mr. Capulet, do you really think the Capulet family loses out by paying me three billion dollars in compensation?"

Her words caused Dominic's expression to falter. This Louisa—when she spoke, she could nearly overwhelm even a seasoned old fox like himself.

His face gradually darkened. "So, you want more?"

Louisa smiled and shook her head. "I'm just answering your questions. You asked why I'm so stubborn, why I can't swallow my pride to gain more.

"Perhaps to many people, a husband like George—wealthy and handsome—even if he plays around outside, as long as he doesn't bring it to my face, I should tolerate it to maintain my luxurious lifestyle.

"But I'm perfectly capable of creating my own wealth and luxury. So why should I swallow my pride for a man who's rotten to the core, dimming my own light in the process?"

She smiled lightly, leaning back in her wheelchair, her eyes filled with cold indifference and commanding presence that looked down on everything.

Dominic remained silent for a long time. He had thought Louisa was gentle and easily manipulated like a lamb, but she turned out to be a wolf.

He laughed coldly. "I never knew my daughter-in-law was so eloquent. So you're saying this divorce is non-negotiable?"

"Not necessarily," she replied quickly, as if requiring no thought at all.

Dominic thought he'd misheard. "What did you say?" Hadn't her previous speech indicated the divorce was inevitable?

Louisa smiled sweetly, as if the fierce, commanding person from moments ago wasn't her at all.

With the bright smile of a young girl, she said, "It's not that I must divorce him. I have one condition—if Mr. Capulet can agree to it, I could stay married."

"Tell me."
