After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 59
George's face changed abruptly. "What nonsense are you spouting?"
He pushed Vivian's hand away without hesitation, the coldness in his eyes nearly bringing her to tears. She felt utterly wronged, not knowing what she'd done wrong.
But George couldn't be bothered with her now. He immediately moved to approach Louisa.
Seeing this, Caden quickly stepped forward, firmly grabbing his arm and lowering his voice, "George, could you calm down for a minute? The engagement is already announced. Are you really going to humiliate my sister for that woman?"
George wasn't having it. He shot Caden an icy look. "Did I ever say I would marry her? You all acted on your own without my consent. Let go!"
Caden was furious. What was wrong with marrying his sister? How was a Price family daughter inferior to Louisa, that secretary? Was George feeling shortchanged somehow?
But Caden didn't want to escalate things to an irreparable point.
Suppressing his anger, he said to George, "Fine, let's set aside Vivian's situation for now. Today isn't just about you and Vivian—it's about the Capulet Group and the Price Group.
"This is a show, a performance to strengthen the alliance between our companies. All these powerful families are watching.
"Even if you won't think of Vivian, at least consider the Capulet Group, our joint projects with the Price Group, and both our families' reputations."
That finally made George calm down somewhat. He took a deep breath, shook off Caden's hand, and walked over to Louisa.
Everyone around watched with wide eyes. This drama of two women fighting over one man was far more entertaining than some engagement party.
Not wanting to be the laughingstock, George lowered his voice and said to Louisa, "Don't make a scene here. Go home first, and I'll explain everything later."
Hazel also approached, glaring at Louisa with barely contained fury. "What exactly are you trying to do?"
"What am I doing?" Louisa laughed, glancing around at everyone present, her laughter bright and boldly defiant.
"My husband is publicly taking a concubine. As his lawful wife, how could I not come personally to give them my blessing?"
Her voice was perfectly pitched—not too loud, not too soft—clear enough for everyone to hear. Instantly, a wave of shock rippled through the crowd.
Everyone was stunned. Concubine? What did she mean? Was Louisa implying that she was George's legitimate wife? Was this a provocation, or did she and George actually have a relationship?
Various speculations buzzed through the crowd.
Vivian was losing her mind. How could she, a Price family daughter, tolerate being called a concubine?
She screamed hysterically, "Louisa, what garbage are you spewing? You're just a shameless slut who crawled into George's bed! He's done with you! I'm his wife, I'm the legitimate one—"
"SILENCE!" George's sharp command cut her off.
All words died in Vivian's throat as she stared at him in disbelief. "George..." Today was their engagement. She hadn't said anything wrong. Tears of hurt welled in her eyes.
Seeing this, Lily quickly pulled her into an embrace. Other Price family members rushed forward as well.
Caden stepped up to Louisa. "Ms. Forbes, this is my sister's birthday celebration. We didn't invite you. Please leave immediately, or I'll be forced to take action."
"And what action might that be, Mr. Price?" Louisa wasn't intimidated by his threat.
She continued with a bright smile, "What right do you have to do anything? Just know this—in the old days, when men had multiple wives, she would have to respect me!"
She spoke unhurriedly, her smile as radiant as the evening moonlight—captivating and beautiful.
Caden was momentarily dazed. But he quickly recovered. Louisa was so brazen—what kind of woman had George found?
Vivian was absolutely furious, pointing at Louisa and shouting, "You've gone crazy wanting to marry into wealth! Me, respect you? What fantasy world are you living in?"
"Can't accept it? Then let me make things crystal clear!" Calmly, Louisa reached into her purse.
Nearby, Hazel suddenly realized what she was about to do and shouted angrily, "Louisa!"
Louisa glanced at her, noting the furious yet panicked expression on her face. With a cold, mocking smile, Louisa gave her an icy look.
Then, with all eyes fixed on her, Louisa slowly pulled out a marriage certificate and displayed it for everyone to see.
The entire venue fell silent.
Vivian stood stunned, staring at the marriage certificate in disbelief. Louisa tapped it against Vivian's face. "See it clearly? Do I need to open it so you can check the names and details inside?"
Vivian screamed hysterically, "I don't believe it! I don't believe it! It's fake! That marriage certificate is fake! You forged it!" She grabbed the certificate and began tearing at it frantically.
Louisa watched her meltdown without making any move to stop her.
Hazel, having recovered her composure, backed up Vivian's claims loudly, "That's right! The marriage certificate is fake! You forged it! Louisa, what are you trying to accomplish? You forced me to give you a huge settlement, and now you're creating trouble with forged documents? I'm warning you—say one more word and I won't give you a single penny!"
She shouted these threats without thinking.
George sharply turned to Louisa, his gaze piercing. "What settlement?"
The crowd buzzed with whispers: "What's going on? Forging a marriage certificate? This Louisa is really brazen!"
"She took the money but still won't back off—now she's here to ruin everything. How greedy can she be?"
"Isn't it obvious? She can't accept that the man she worked so hard to seduce is marrying someone else. She's trying to extort as much as possible."
Contemptuous comments spread throughout.
Louisa couldn't be bothered with these fools, nor did she respond to George's question. Now was the time to settle the score with Hazel for her slander and false accusations.
Louisa walked toward Hazel. Step by step, slowly and deliberately, her face still wearing that dazzling smile.
Even so, Hazel was intimidated, instinctively backing away. "W-what are you doing?"
Louisa advanced relentlessly, like a demon returned from hell, smiling as she said, "Ms. Gray, you finally mentioned the settlement. I was afraid you wouldn't bring it up!"
