After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 50

George urgently needed to talk with her, to stop her continued avoidance.

'What a jerk.' Louisa silently cursed him.

But she didn't want to reveal her new home address or involve Flora, so she reluctantly agreed to return in half an hour.

After hanging up, Flora fumed, "That bastard! What gives him the right to speak to you that way?"

"He's been like this for months now."

Because he no longer loved her, he had no patience left.

Louisa understood this perfectly well, so it didn't matter anymore.

Flora worried, "I'll come with you, just in case he tries to hurt you again."

Louisa shook her head. "It's fine. I'll go alone—there's no need for you to get involved."

Though George was domineering, controlling, and unfaithful, he wasn't completely unhinged.

A little over thirty minutes later, Louisa arrived home.

As soon as she entered, she saw George sitting on the living room sofa, his face dark.

His eyes were bloodshot when he spotted her.

Louisa maintained her composure, approaching calmly. "What is it?"

George didn't answer immediately, just stared at her.

Even now, she could remain so calm? With no intention of discussing anything?

He got straight to the point. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?" Louisa gave him a puzzled look.

"About what my mother did. Why didn't you say anything?"

Louisa nearly laughed out loud.

He had lost his heart for her, and she was divorcing him—what was there to say?

She offered a faint smile. "You seemed busy, so I didn't bother you."

"But you told Julian? And conspired with him to stab me in the back?"

"What does he have to do with this?"

"What does he have to do with it?" George seethed. "Don't tell me you didn't know Julian froze the project loans for the Capulet Group and Price Group."

Louisa frowned. She genuinely didn't know.

Though her interactions with Julian were limited, she knew he was reliable. If he had taken such action, he must have had good reason.

So instead of questioning Julian's motives, she replied to George, "If he froze your project loans, there must be something wrong with your project. How is that my fault? Don't try to pin everything on me."

"Not your fault?" George laughed bitterly, showing her his phone. "This is Julian's reason for stopping our loan. Still want to claim you're not involved?"

Louisa read the brief rejection: Due to recent controversies surrounding the project companies that might impact normal operations and create loan repayment risks, reassessment is required.

Nothing unusual there.

She gave George a wry smile. "Which word here suggests that rejecting your loan has anything to do with me? Instead of hassling me, George, maybe focus on solving the problem."

George was momentarily speechless.

Louisa offered advice. "Since things have come to this, why not just divorce me and fulfill your love with Vivian? With your families united in marriage, working together to protect your special project, it might still have a chance."

See how thoughtful she was, finding him a solution.

Unexpectedly, her words only fueled George's anger.

He glared at her. "I don't need you telling me what to do. I'm not so pathetic that I need a woman to stabilize my situation. As for divorce—forget it. I won't divorce you, and I certainly won't let you and Julian live happily ever after. Get that out of your head!"

Louisa was at a loss of words. He had been the one cheating all along, yet he refused to divorce?

Whatever. Just five more days. In five days, even if he didn't want a divorce, the marriage would end anyway.

There was no need to provoke him further.

"If that's all, I'm leaving. Flora's waiting for me at home." She lied without flinching and walked away.

Not once did she look back.

George watched her calm departure with irritation. But the Capulet-Price collaboration still needed attention.

He had no choice but to return to the office.

Meanwhile, things weren't peaceful at Julian's end either.

At the Tudor Group, in the conference room, Percy was pleading his case to several senior board members with a miserable expression.

He had approved the Capulet-Price project loan following all proper procedures. It was a guaranteed profitable venture. Now Julian had frozen it without a convincing reason—how was this acceptable?

Most board members respected Julian and defended him, "I'm sure Mr. Tudor has his reasons."

But a few dissenters pushed back, "I acknowledge his abilities, but he's still a man—vulnerable to feminine wiles. I've met this Louisa Forbes. She's capable, shrewd, and dangerously beautiful. Our young Mr. Tudor might well be influenced by his attraction to her."

Percy nodded emphatically. "I've heard this Louisa has connections with many corporate executives, including a questionable relationship with George Capulet.

"Recently, our Mr. Tudor spent $200 million at an auction on Business Philosophy, not for the Tudor Group's benefit, but as a gift for this woman.

"Clearly, our Mr. Tudor has fallen under her spell."

Several others murmured in agreement.

The opposing faction tried defending Julian, but their position had weakened.

What could they say against such compelling arguments?

Teddy, learning of the situation, immediately reported to Julian.

Julian was reviewing documents in his office. Hearing Teddy's urgent tone, he remained calm, asking casually, "Is it time?"
