After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 65
George's seemingly polite words carried an unmistakable chill and possessiveness.
Everyone froze in place, watching the scene unfold with wide eyes.
What was happening? Was George openly challenging Julian? Had the drama shifted from two women fighting over one man to two men competing for one woman?
How could it be? Louisa was beautiful—heavenly, even, with a quality that stirred men's desire to conquer. But she was a married woman. Julian might protect her, but would he really pursue her?
All eyes turned to Julian. Before he could respond, Louisa spoke first.
She gave George a cold look. "I'm sorry, but we've already signed divorce papers. We have no relationship, and you have no right to thank anyone on my behalf."
"That's impossible!" George couldn't believe it. Even as panic gripped his heart, he refused to accept this reality.
After all, she had threatened divorce many times before but never followed through.
He couldn't believe she would actually leave him when she loved him so much. But the more he tried to reassure himself, the more frightened he became.
His voice trembled. "You're lying to me. You're angry about Vivian, so you're saying this to upset me, right?"
He held his breath, waiting for her to admit it was all a bluff.
Instead, her eyes held only coldness—a deathly coldness. "George, when you cheated again and again, when you repeatedly abandoned me for your Vivi, when you orchestrated last night's scheme to destroy me—you should have known it was over between us."
"No! No!" George shook his head frantically. "The cheating was real, but I knew nothing about last night. I never meant to hurt you. I could never do that to you..."
Louisa laughed—a hollow, bleak sound that echoed in the night breeze. Everyone seemed to forget to breathe, watching her. Many women felt infected by her wordless sorrow.
She didn't answer George's question. Instead, she opened her purse and pulled out a document. The cover displayed the words "Divorce Agreement" in clear lettering.
George's gaze locked onto it, visibly pained.
Louisa slowly opened it, turning to the last page with his signature. "George, look at the date you signed this. Do you remember that day? What day it was?"
"Did you think I only learned about your affairs today? I knew from the very first time. Every hotel stay, every date, every trip, every public display of affection—I knew it all.
"The day you signed these divorce papers was my birthday. I spent it alone, watching photos of you kissing her under the Northern Lights. Do you know how that felt?"
"No, no, no." George kept shaking his head. He couldn't accept this. He couldn't let her leave. He couldn't live without her.
He carefully took her hand, his voice pleading, "I was wrong. It was my fault. Let's not divorce, please?"
Louisa didn't pull away. She looked down at the two wounds on her hand, laughing softly, her voice even more hollow and raspy.
"George, you know what? I didn't care when you erased all my contributions to the company, when you took credit for my work. Because more than those meaningless things, I cared about you.
"But do you remember what you've done?
"You imprisoned me, wanted to control me, and even let your mother and your lover set me up, trying to destroy me.
"After all this, you dare say you never meant to hurt me? Do you think all this damage can be undone? Do you really think I can forgive you?"
Her calm tone suddenly turned sharp with the final question.
George's eyes turned bloodshot. After a long pause, he managed only: "I-I'm sorry. I didn't know."
Didn't know? Louisa laughed out loud. She said nothing more, just shook her head. "Whether you knew or not doesn't matter anymore."
Just then, police sirens pierced the quiet night, growing louder as they approached.
Someone in the crowd shouted, "The police are here! Who called them?"
Commotion spread from the entrance. Everyone looked toward the doors—everyone except George and Julian.
George kept his eyes fixed on Louisa, seeing only her, while Julian glanced casually at the divorce papers in Louisa's hand.
Flora and Sadie appeared with the police.
The Price family finally snapped back to reality, looking at Louisa. "Did you call them?"
Louisa ignored them, looking down at the frantic Vivian with ice in her eyes. "Your George, whom you'd die to have, is just a tainted man I no longer want. That's the difference between us."
Ten years of youth, ten years of love—she could let it all go. What was one George compared to that?
Vivian was taken away by the police, along with Hazel and George. The five men who had attempted to assault Louisa and the female server were also arrested.
With evidence and witnesses in place, and the criminals exposed, there was nothing left to debate. The dramatic spectacle had finally reached its conclusion.
Flora and Sadie rushed to Louisa, concerned. "Louisa, are you okay?"
Louisa gave them a wan smile and shook her head. "I'm fine."
She then looked up at Julian. "Mr. Tudor, thank you."
