After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 47
At that moment, George was still at the hospital with Vivian, completely unaware of what was happening.
The Capulet and Price families were equally oblivious, gathered at the Price Manor in celebration.
Lily raised her glass to Hazel. "We owe you big time, Hazel. You should have seen that little tramp when I confronted her—she treated Owen and me like we were nothing."
"Thank goodness for you," Lily continued. "The moment you stepped in, she went completely silent.
"Before that, she was so defiant—told us she'd only leave if George asked her to. You should have heard her arrogant tone, acting like she was secure as George's wife.
"But the minute you, the lady of the Capulet family, made your move, she didn't dare make a sound. I must toast to that!"
Such flattery delighted Hazel, who beamed with satisfaction.
She had been seething over that $3 billion settlement, desperately seeking ways to deal with Louisa. Ideally, she wanted Louisa gone without paying a penny.
But she hadn't found a perfect solution until the Price family approached her, offering an excellent opportunity.
Not only had she shown the Price family proper respect, but she'd also thoroughly humiliated Louisa.
Though Louisa hadn't shown her face, and the $3 billion would still need to be paid, at least Hazel had tarnished her reputation. That was some satisfaction.
As they continued talking, the conversation shifted to the marriage between their children.
"Hazel, when should we hold the wedding? What do you think?" Lily asked between bites.
"Well..." Hazel hesitated.
The Price family didn't know, but she was painfully aware that George wasn't officially divorced from Louisa yet. Discussing marriage now seemed premature.
Lily and Owen exchanged glances, noting her reluctance.
"Do you have concerns?" Owen inquired.
Lily pressed, "What's worrying you, Hazel? Afraid that little tramp might cause trouble? She has nothing and nobody—what could she possibly do?"
"I'm not afraid of her," Hazel asserted. "She wouldn't dare cross me."
After a moment's thought, she continued, "Truthfully, I adore Vivian. Her birthday is August 16th, next Wednesday, correct?"
"That's right," Lily and Owen nodded simultaneously.
"Here's what we'll do," Hazel proposed. "We'll host a grand birthday celebration and announce the engagement there. Double the joy! What do you think?"
That day would also be the final day of George and Louisa's cooling-off period—perfect timing to remove Louisa from the picture completely.
Lily and Owen were delighted with the plan.
"Will Dominic be back by then?" Owen inquired.
"His health has improved considerably," Hazel replied. "He might miss the engagement, but he'll certainly return for the wedding."
"That's wonderful news."
The three continued enthusiastically planning George and Vivian's wedding while Lily secretly texted her daughter the good news.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Vivian was cuddling with George.
Nestled in his arms, she scrolled through travel guides. "George, can we go to Lavender Ridge? The lavender is in full bloom now. We could see the fields and then visit the vineyards for wine tasting. Wouldn't that be perfect?"
George seemed distracted. "Maybe later."
"Why wait?" Vivian pouted.
George didn't answer.
His thoughts had drifted to Louisa. Years ago, when they first married, they had excitedly planned trips together too.
They had so many destinations in mind back then. But company matters always interfered.
In seven years of marriage, he'd never taken her anywhere—not even on a honeymoon.
They'd spent most of their time between the office and his home study.
Seeing his distant expression, Vivian knew he was thinking about Louisa.
A flash of malice crossed her eyes, but she quickly concealed it. "Please, George? Or if you don't like that place, you choose. I'll go anywhere with you—I'm happy doing anything as long as we're together."
Her devoted demeanor made it impossible for George to refuse.
With affectionate resignation, he said, "All right. Wherever you want to go, we'll go."
Vivian brightened immediately. "Then I'll book our flights!"
"Go ahead."
But just as she opened the booking app, a message from her mother appeared:
[Mrs. Capulet has agreed. We'll announce your engagement to George at your birthday celebration.]
Vivian's excitement surged. Without hesitation, she tossed her phone aside and threw her arms around George, covering him with kisses. "George, I love you, I love you, I love you..."
Though George didn't understand the sudden burst of enthusiasm, he was still a man—and he couldn't resist such passionate advances.
In seconds, he had her pressed against the hospital bed as they kissed fervently.
In the heat of passion, she wrapped her arms around his neck, savoring both the desire she stirred in him and the warmth of his kisses on her skin.
Breathless with desire, she whispered, "George, let's get married. I want to be your wife."
