After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms Chapter 12

George didn't have much time to dwell on it because his phone started buzzing like crazy.

A flood of WhatsApp notifications came through, and he knew it had to be Vivian.

George pulled out his phone to respond, pushing everything else to the back of his mind.

Before long, the staff showed up.

When he saw the boxes, his eyes went wide. "All this stuff?"

He wished he'd brought a couple more people to help out.

Louisa seemed to read his mind. "Why don't you pull the car up front? I'll help you load them."

"Yeah, sure, thanks, Ms. Forbes."

He rushed off to get the car.

Louisa kept moving the boxes, one trip after another.

George glanced up from his phone now and then, noticing how hard she was working. He frowned a bit.

But every time his phone buzzed, it pulled him back in, and the noise from Louisa and the staff started to bug him, so he moved to the dining room with his phone.

Louisa noticed, saw him glued to his phone, and couldn't help but smile, a bit amused.

She thought to herself, just 26 days left.

She kept at it with the boxes.

After about ten minutes, they were finally done.

She stood at the front door, watching the truck drive away, standing there for a long time, even after it disappeared.

She stayed there, just standing quietly.

George, sitting in the dining room, could see her through the big windows, standing at the villa's entrance, looking kind of lonely and a bit lost.

Why was she selling it if she seemed so attached?

The thought crossed his mind.

But Vivian's messages on his phone quickly grabbed his attention again.

He smiled as he replied to each one.

Little did he know, what Louisa was sending away were all the reminders of his past love for her, and all the memories they had shared.

She didn't want any of it anymore.

She calmly went back inside, ready to take a shower. As she grabbed her clothes, she remembered she hadn't transferred money to Julian yet.

She knew the cost of the medical expenses he covered for her, but she wasn't sure about the price of his shirt.

Given his status, his clothes were probably custom-made by top designers, likely expensive. She didn't want to send too little.

After some thought, she sent him a text: [Mr. Tudor, may I ask how much your clothes cost?]

No reply.

She figured he was busy and hadn't seen it, so she went to shower.

Unexpectedly, after she finished showering, drying her hair, and putting on a face mask, three hours had passed, and still no reply.

Louisa lay in bed, wondering if he really hadn't checked his phone for three hours.

What should she do?

Just as she was pondering, he replied.

When she picked up her phone to check, she almost wished she hadn't.

He simply replied, [I don't know.]

Louisa was speechless.

But then again, for someone like him, mundane details like that were never his concern, so it made sense he wouldn't know.

She recalled the clothes he wore today, likely a piece by the famous designer Evelyn Powell.

Maybe she could have a suit from the same brand custom-made for him.

With that thought, she started typing, [Would it be convenient for you to send me your measurements?]

But before she could finish, there was a knock on the door, and George walked in.

Louisa put down her phone and looked up. "What's up?"

Her cool tone rubbed George the wrong way. "Do I need a reason to come see you?"

When did things get so distant between them?

He lay down beside her.

Louisa instinctively shifted away. "It's a bit cramped here. You should head back to the master bedroom."

"Why would I go there when you're here?" He turned, pulling her into his arms, burying his face in her neck, inhaling her scent. "You smell amazing, babe."

His deep, husky voice carried a hint of desire.

Having been married to him for seven years, Louisa knew what he wanted.

She found it ironic that after chatting with his little fling, he now wanted her.

But she wasn't interested.

Sensing he was about to kiss her, she reflexively put up her hand. "I'm tired, not in the mood."

"I'll be gentle, promise I won't hurt you."

"No." She shot him down without hesitation.

George was annoyed, glaring at her.

Seeing her genuinely exhausted and uninterested, he reluctantly held back.

Just then, his phone chimed twice with a special ringtone, one he had set for someone specific.

He paused, then got up from her bed and left with his phone.

Louisa finally exhaled, got up, and opened the window.

George's scent was mixed with Vivian's, and she didn't want their smell lingering in her room.

Turning off the lights, she lay back down, ready to sleep. She glanced at her phone and saw Julian's two-word reply: [Want to see?]

What did he mean by that?

Curious, she opened their chat, and in an instant, she nearly choked on her own spit.

Earlier, she had meant to ask if he could share his measurements, but when George suddenly came in, she had put her phone down without noticing. The smart reply feature had changed her message to:

[Would it be convenient for you to let me see your measurements?]

So he replied, [Want to see?]

Louisa felt like banging her head against the wall.

Would he think she was some kind of creepy woman secretly lusting after his body?

She felt like dying.

After a while, she forced herself to calm down, thinking of explaining that she had made a typo.

But no matter how she phrased it, it seemed inappropriate, so she wrote and deleted several times.

Forget it, the message was sent over an hour ago, and he hadn't said anything since.

They probably wouldn't meet again, so it was better to leave it and avoid the awkwardness.

She tossed her phone aside and went to sleep.

The next morning, as she stepped out, she ran into George.

Already dressed and ready, he threw a curt remark her way, "I'm off to work, skipping breakfast."

It seemed he was still in a bad mood from last night's unmet desires.

Louisa didn't care, even giving him a slight smile. "Suit yourself."
