Leroy handed over the supplies.

To everyone's surprise, Louisa remained perfectly compliant as Julian treated her wounds, offering no resistance whatsoever.

Standing uselessly to the side, Leroy thought to himself, 'So I came here for nothing?' Apparently he was just a prop in their little scene.

With a wry smile, he glanced at Julian. "Next time something like this happens, Mr. Tudor, you can skip calling me."

Julian didn't even look up. "Then why are you still here?"

"Right. I was just leaving." He slung his medical kit over his shoulder with flair and strolled out, humming under his breath, "I should be under the car, not inside it..."

Sadie couldn't help but laugh, leaning toward Flora to whisper, "He's kind of fun."

"That's the second son of the Carter family. Want an introduction?" Flora gave her a suggestive smile.

"No thanks!" Sadie crossed her arms in an X-shape, signaling a hard stop. These wealthy elites were exactly what she wanted to avoid.

Flora gave her a knowing look. "I've always wondered if you have something against rich people?"

"And I've always wondered if there's anyone in Silverlight City you don't know?" Sadie countered. With that single question, she neatly sidestepped Flora's inquiry.

Flora noticed the deflection and snorted softly, dropping the subject.

Julian turned to Flora and Sadie, about to ask them to look after Louisa for the night, but the two women, sharp as ever, didn't wait to hear what he had to say.

"Mr. Tudor, since Louisa is rejecting everyone else, we'll leave her in your care tonight. We have somewhere to be. Gotta run," they announced before disappearing like rabbits.

What business could they possibly have this late at night? Julian didn't bother calling after them.

He looked down at Louisa's pale, sleeping face and sighed silently. Were they even at a point in their relationship where sharing a space was appropriate? Plus, Teddy and Bob were still here.

After consideration, he dismissed Teddy and Bob for the night. Three men and one woman in the same space didn't seem right.

He carried Louisa to his bedroom and placed her on the bed.

She curled up instinctively, her hand searching the pillow for something. Julian had planned to keep his distance, but seeing her movement and fearing she might reinjure herself, he steadied her restless hand.

She immediately stilled. But within seconds, her other hand began searching.

"What are you looking for?" Julian couldn't help smiling.

Louisa, fast asleep, offered no answer. But when her fingers found his hand, she shifted closer, nestling her face into his palm.

The gesture left Julian stunned. He sat down on the edge of the bed, gazing down at her.

Though the room was dark, moonlight streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing her in a gentle glow.

In just a month's time, she'd grown even thinner than when he first met her. Her long hair spread across the bed, with a few strands falling across her face, emphasizing her paleness. Even in sleep, her brows remained furrowed, as though some deep sorrow troubled her.

This vulnerable version of her seemed worlds apart from the decisive woman at tonight's gala.

Julian reached out, tucking the stray hair behind her ear, then gently traced his finger along her brow, as if trying to smooth away her worries.

Louisa shifted closer to him, her soft cheek nuzzling against his palm as though it were her safest haven.

Watching her depend on him this way, Julian suddenly understood—she was searching for security.

"Do you know who I am?" his gaze deepened as he asked.

Asleep, she gave no response. This sparked a mischievous impulse in him. He tried withdrawing his hand.

The movement, like someone attempting to steal her most precious possession, caused her to immediately grab his wrist, refusing to let him go.

Julian's lips curved upward. "If you don't want me to leave, tell me who I am. Otherwise, I'll throw you out."

Even in sleep, Louisa sensed the threat. Her brows furrowed as she uttered his name, "Julian."

This completely stunned him. For a long while, he couldn't define what he felt—he just watched her as she fell back into deep sleep.

Julian gazed at her peaceful, beautiful face and sighed silently. Finally, he lay down beside her and slowly drew her soft form into his arms.

---

Louisa slept peacefully and soundly. When she awoke, she found herself in familiar surroundings. Looking up at the ceiling light, she took a moment to orient herself.

Flora lay on her side next to her, head propped up, watching her.

"What are you doing here?" Louisa startled when she turned to meet Flora's bright smile.

"If not me, then who? Mr. Tudor?" Flora asked with a suggestive wink.

Louisa was baffled—what did Julian have to do with anything? She sat up in bed, rubbing her still-heavy head. "What happened to me?"

"What do you mean 'what happened'? Don't you remember anything from last night?" Flora asked, surprised.

"I don't remember. Did something happen?"

She only recalled sending those three people to jail at the gala, walking home in the rain, and running into Julian in the complex. Everything else was a blank.

Flora had to explain everything. Louisa listened calmly at first, until she heard that Flora and Sadie had left her with Julian.

Her composure cracked, her lips twitching. "You and Sadie just ran off?"

"No, no—you were rejecting everyone except Mr. Tudor! We had to create an opportunity for you two, right?" Flora quickly explained.

As she spoke, she nudged Louisa with her elbow, giving her another suggestive look. "We were being good wingwomen, weren't we?"

"Oh yes, thank you so much," Louisa replied through gritted teeth, then asked, "So what happened after? How did I get back here?"
