OLIVIA

“I am going to ask you for the last time, Rene. What in heaven's name are you doing in my office? And how did you get here? I guess I need to replace the security for letting you in without my permission,” I roared like a wounded tiger that had lost a battle.

“Put your shirt down. You're not going to do anything to the security. This has nothing to do with them. Hold on a second. Is this how you welcome a friend? That's quite rude of you, if you ask me,” Rene said.

“I am not your friend and never will be. We have nothing in common. The earlier you realize that, the better for us,” I fired back at Rene to set the record straight.

I couldn't imagine myself being friends with someone like her.

“Don't get your hopes too high, my friend. I am not here to sing your praises. This is just a harmless visit. I am not here to waste your time either. Trust me, it will be worth it. Just hear me out.”

Rene stood up from the chair and paced around my office as though she were searching for a lost item.

“I see you're not ready to speak up. I guess I have to call security immediately,” I threatened Rene, hoping it would make her speak up.

“Don't call security. I stopped by to see Cyril. I figured he might be around,” Rene hurriedly spoke.

My plan worked after all. Her decision to speak up stopped me from calling security.

Even when security finally showed up, I asked them to return to their respective duty posts.

“I want to get this straight. Did Cyril invite you over? Because the last time I checked, you'd never been here to see Cyril on any occasion,” I asked Rene.

I had a feeling she was lying. She sounded too good to be true.

“I have no words for you. Cyril owns the company, doesn't he? I am entitled to visit whenever I choose, so deal with it,” Rene clapped back at me.

She went back to my chair and crossed her legs as though she owned the company.

I took some time to process what was happening.

I wished it was a dream.

I had the chance to let security throw Rene out of the office, but I screwed up.

I thought Rene came to discuss something important. I had no idea she had come to strike a nerve or annoy me, as she always does.

I wasn't ready to fight her this time. That was the last thing on my mind.

I came to realize that violence hasn't been a solution to any problem in the history of mankind.

Slowly, I walked up to Rene with blood in my eyes.

I looked straight into her face and said, “You were lucky that I asked security to leave when they came to kick you out. But guess what? This time, I won't be calling security. Rather, I will invite the cops over and have you arrested for breaking in.”

“Fine! I will leave. You don't have to go that far,” Rene finally stood up. She felt threatened by my words.

Rene approached the exit door and left without coming back.

“Gosh! She's such a bad bitch,” I facepalmed after Rene's exit.

Just when I thought Rene was gone, she showed up in my office a moment later and threatened that she was going to occupy the office of the CEO pretty soon.

“I will gladly see that happen. I am eager to know how you would outshine me for a year. Now get the fuck out of my office before I call security on you,” I yelled at Rene.

As though that weren't enough, I stepped forward and forced her out of my office with several pushes.

Hearing Rene brag about unseating me bothers me. It's no news that she might have discovered my plans to divorce Cyril and decided to confront me.

There is a limit to what I can take. It hurts me to find out that a dullard like Rene will eventually take over the company after my exit. To me, that's a complete downgrade.

“Ma'am, are you all right?” Kate walked into the office looking confused. She had no file in her possession.

I was already guessing that she must have bumped into Rene on her way to my office.

“I am fine. It's just a slight headache, but it will pass,” I lied.

I caressed my head to convince Kate that I was telling the truth.

“Are you sure about this? Because I just bumped into Rene on her way out of your office. She said some nasty things to me, which I ignored. Are you sure you two never fought?” Kate asked me.

 “Oh, you saw her too?”

“Yes, I did. Did she hurt you? I can still go after her. I bet she hasn't gone far,” Kate offered. She was ready to take a bullet for me.

“You will do no such thing, Kate. Just let it go,” I halted Kate's mission.

It wasn't easy holding Kate back. She looked battle-ready to take a bullet for me.

“Set up a meeting with the lawyer. I can't wait to leave this godforsaken marriage. I am more out of the marriage than in,” I pleaded with Kate.

“Okay, Ma'am,” Kate bowed, left my office, and walked out.

The sad look on her face suggested that she wasn't pleased with me. But who cares anyway?

Just like Adrian said, Rene was the least of my problems. The only person I should be bothered about was Cyril.

According to Adrian, if I could get rid of Cyril, my concerns would be solved.

As it stands, the only way I could get rid of Cyril and be free is by walking out of the marriage and his life for good.
