Divorced But Never Letting Go Chapter 87
CYRIL
I stood up immediately as we exchanged pleasantries. "It's so good to see you again, sir. I must confess, your staff has been good to me so far. They made me feel so comfortable."
“Of course, they will. I mean, that's why they're being paid, right?” Uncle Dante teased, and we laughed at each other's jokes.
I ensured that we laughed hard because I knew the next few minutes might be hell for both of us, considering what I intended to speak about.
“Now, let's get straight to business. Did you say you needed to see me urgently? What's the situation about? I ought to have a busy schedule today. Because of you, I had to make plans for another day,” Dante revealed.
I cleared my throat and took another shot of liquor to keep me hyped. I figured what I wanted to say might require some sort of courage and confidence to pull through.
“Before you proceed, where's your wife, and why didn't she come with you? I do hope she's doing great? She didn't quite sound too well when she called. I tried calling her back, but she wasn't taking my calls,” Dante interrupted me.
Unknown to him, he fueled my anger each time he mentioned Olivia's name.
I lost count of how many times he told me that Olivia called to ask about Adrian. I had a feeling he intentionally did it just to spite me.
“Sir, Olivia is doing great. As we speak, she's at home. Apparently, Adrian, your nephew, and Olivia, my wife, are the reason I am here. There's something I would like to discuss with you about,” I started the conversation.
I chose not to head straight to the point, just to ensure a smooth conversation. I wanted to be certain that Dante paid full attention, to avoid making it seem as though I was speaking to myself alone.
“Get on with it immediately. I am all ears,” he consented.
“I am filing for divorce. Olivia and I have decided to go our separate ways,” I unleashed the bombshell that forced Dante to leave his seated position.
“What did you just say? This must be a prank, isn't it? Wait a minute! What has this got to do with Adrian?”
“That's an excellent question,” I smiled.
“Uncle Dante, I hate to break this to you, but I just have to. It might interest you to know that Adrian and Olivia are having an affair. In a nutshell, they've had sex a bunch of times,” I explained tirelessly. This time, I ensured there was no complacency.
“Oh no, that's not true. My nephew can't do that. His parents didn't raise him to be a homewrecker. There must be a mix-up somewhere. Did your wife confirm this? Do you have proof to back your claims?” Dante doubted me.
He was already seeing me as a terrible liar and a manipulator. I wasn't upset, nor was I retaliating. I knew what I had was bigger than just evidence.
“Of course, I do. Please give me a minute,” I sought permission from Uncle Dante, brought out my phone, and showed him photos of Olivia and Adrian in compromising positions.
Just when he thought he had seen it all, I played the voice recording from the conversation I had with Olivia in the office, where she confirmed the allegations against her.
“Do I still need to show you more, or are you convinced already?” I let out a wicked laugh.
“No, I don't need to see another. So what do you want to do about this? I want to believe there's a reason you showed me, isn't there?” Uncle Dante asked.
My smile spread to my ears as he asked the question. I felt what it was like to be in charge.
I had different options in my head. I was just taking my time to select the cruelest of them all. The main target was Olivia. Unfortunately, Adrian fell victim due to his inability to control his third leg.
“What do I want? Quite simple. I want Adrian to be immediately removed as your representative for our ongoing project. I want you or someone else to take charge. I want the effect to happen immediately,” I demanded.
It was quite a complicated situation, I know. But who cares? I just wanted to see Adrian and Olivia suffer.
“That might be difficult. I mean, Olivia hasn't complained about Adrian yet.”
“That's because they're having sex with each other! How on earth do you want me to still explain this to you?” I cried. I didn't mind seeing tears drop from my eyes just to ensure that Uncle Dante granted my request.
“Give me some time to think about this and get back to you. Hold on a second! Have you confronted Adrian about this, or do you want me to do that myself?" Dante asked another question just when it felt like I had everything under control.
“I already did. But if you still want to confront him, who am I to stop you?” I granted his suggestion.
“Thank you for the understanding. You're truly a man of value. I will definitely get back to you,” Dante assured me. He was already looking disoriented, but who cares? He should have Adrian to blame for getting him involved in the scandal.
We exchanged handshakes, and I left his mansion, knowing that half of my problems had been solved.
I already imagined the look on Adrian's face when he finds out that he has been replaced as Dante's representative to handle the contract. I would certainly give up an arm to capture the weird look on his face.
"Step one completed. Now, let's move on to the next one," I chanted, driving straight to Lawyer Andrew's office to finalize the divorce proceedings.
It was funny how what once seemed like a problem had suddenly become a thing of the past.
I chose not to call Lawyer Andrew before visiting his office. I knew he might lie about his whereabouts.
