OLIVIA

 “Hi, Sugar.

I just arrived in Paris. Can you please send me the address of your apartment or hotel? I would greatly appreciate that.”

That was the first thing I saw on my phone when I woke up in the morning—a text from Adrian.

The message caught me off guard. I never thought he was actually going to show up.

It was too late to ignore him now that he was already in Paris. It would have been easier if he had called before visiting.

A few minutes after I texted Adrian my hotel address, my phone rang.

I didn't rush to answer because I assumed he was already close by.

And when I finally summoned the courage to speak with him, the first thing he said was, “I am outside the hotel now. What’s your room number?”

 I panicked and became dumbfounded.

If I hadn't known Adrian for too long, I would have believed that he finally possessed some supernatural powers that were making him appear at the destination of his choice.

 "Are you there?

I just asked you a question, Olivia," Adrian called my attention again.

I was lost in deep thought.

I knew what to say to him, but I had no clue how to punch the words out of my mouth.

“Oops, never mind. You've got absolutely nothing to worry about anymore. I just met with Kate. She's taking me to your lodge as we speak. I will be there in a bit,” Adrian said.

Then he went ahead to end the call. He sounded so thrilled, like someone on a dinner date with the Queen of England.

Immediately, I rushed to the bathroom to get myself cleaned up.

I wouldn't want Adrian to meet me without cleaning up.

A few seconds after I left the bathroom, I heard a knock at the door.

 “Come in already, Adrian.

The door is open,” I consented without finding out who was at the door.

Without being told, I knew it was Adrian. He was the only one I was expecting.

Just like I predicted, Adrian walked inside my room majestically.

He wasn't alone; Kate was with him.

“Good morning, ma'am. I met him at the reception. I had to bring him myself since he said you were aware of his visit,” Kate explained.

She sounded guilty for letting Adrian in without my permission.

 “It's fine, Kate.

 You can leave now.

I will send for you if needed,” I dismissed Kate without getting upset at her.

I would have had her head on a steak if it was Cyril. But with Adrian, it was quite understandable.

“Mr. Adrian, would you like me to get you anything from the mall?” Kate asked Adrian. She was acting all nice as though we were at the office.

“Nah! I am fine,” Adrian said.

I was signaling Kate to leave, and she wasn't looking in my direction. She appeared to have some tricks right under her sleeves.

 “Kate?” I called her name.

I glared at her awkwardly while pointing at the exit door.

“What are you doing here, Adrian? You never told me you were coming,” I whispered to Adrian after Kate's exit.

I had a feeling that Kate might be eavesdropping on our conversation.

I wouldn't want her to hear what was discussed.

“I know I screwed up, okay? I mean, I should have told you. But hey, aren't you excited to see me?" Adrian smiled.

He spread his arms so damn wide while anticipating a warm embrace.

He didn't seem to be bothered by the fact that I wasn't pleased with his actions.

“Okay. Fine! I apologize for ruining your party. I just couldn't help it anymore. I was missing you badly and needed to see you,” he finally apologized to me.

He walked up to me, flirting as he spoke, saying things that sent tiny shivers down my spine.

“That’s fine. Next time, don’t hesitate to call. What if I had moved out of Paris?” I finally smiled at him.

I wrapped my arms around him, holding him tight. His presence only proved how much I had missed him.

As I reciprocated his sweet touches, the towel wrapped around my waist fell to the floor.

I reached down to pick it up, but he stopped me. “That won’t be necessary. I guess the towel understood the assignment,” he smirked.

Now, I stood before Adrian in nothing but my bra and panties.

I couldn’t resist his charming looks or those captivating blue eyes.

He kissed me, and I kissed him back, my hands moving to undress him as I fondled his erection like a toy.

He slid my panties to the side and thrust himself inside me, his tongue teasing my clit with slow, deliberate strokes.

I had been with Adrian before, but this time was different.

There was something about our lovemaking that I couldn’t quite explain.

“I love you, Adrian,” I whispered, kissing his forehead.

It was the first time I had ever voiced my feelings for him after sex.

I was beginning to see myself as his wife—not just a sex slave.

Adrian didn’t say a word in response. He only smiled, wrapping his arms around me.

That was more than enough assurance that he would never treat me the way Cyril did.

“You wanted to tell me something over the phone. What was it about?” Adrian asked.

I looked at him, then rolled off the bed.

Now, I understood why he had flown all the way from New York to Paris.

“Did I say something wrong?” he asked, standing up and following me.

I looked away, folding my arms.

This was supposed to be the best day of my life.

But his question ruined everything. It brought back memories I had worked so hard to forget.

“It’s about the divorce saga. If I ever leave the marriage, it means the deal with your family is off. I don’t need to remind you of the terms, do I?” I turned to face Adrian.

His expression made me second-guess myself.

Maybe—just maybe—I was making a mistake by divorcing Cyril after all.
