Mine to Protect Chapter 106: WHERE ARE YOU?
*Hazel*
I spot Lukas’ blond wolf wreaking havoc in the pit, scything one enemy after the other, like the God of Death. He’s lethal and precise in every attack, and I can’t help admiring his skills, and his powerful energy.
Derrick and Dylan finally take all the guards down and manage to open my cage by breaking the padlock from the outside with a crowbar. Sometimes brute force is all we need.
I hurry out of the cage, feeling immediately a lot better. I feel my powers coming back to me, and I don’t waste any time in using them to attack all the guards and audience I see. With my help we are done quickly, and I can finally release the breath I was holding.
I can’t believe I nearly got sold to a stranger! It’s just crazy.
Derrick and Dylan, who have stayed close to me the whole time, to protect me, now turn to me with worried expressions on their faces.
“Are you alright? Did they hurt you?” Derrick asks, sincere concern clear in his words.
I can’t help smiling at him, I still have a few bruises, but I have never felt better in my life, I am so happy that they came to save me, when I was feeling completely hopeless.
“Nah, I am good. Thank you so much for rescuing me, I don’t even want to imagine what would have happened to me if you hadn’t come.”
I see a tear drop to the floor at my feet, but it doesn’t make any sense, because neither Derrick, nor Dylan are crying; I touch my cheek with my fingers, and that’s when I know that it’s me the one crying, I must be in such a shock that I don’t even know what I am doing.
Derrick caresses my head gently with his hand, comforting me tenderly.
“It’s ok, you are safe now, you have nothing to worry with us here.”
I nod my head yes, not confident that I can talk without cracking down into sobs.
Someone reaches us on stage with a loud thud, and I know it is Lukas from his familiar smell.
“Little wolf, are you ok?” he asks with apprehension.
I don’t reply, I run to him, placing my arms behind his neck and hugging him tightly; his arms wrap around me automatically on impact, and he kisses the top of my head, telling me over and over that I am safe now, and that he won’t let anyone hurt me again.
Eventually, he tells me we need to go, and pulls back from the hug, watching me intently with his brows furrowed.
“There is something different about you today, you are strangely hot, and you smell funny.”
“I am always hot,” I reply jokingly with a wink, “the smell could be the drug they injected me with earlier.”
“I don’t think it is the drug, this smell is kind of appealing, enticing, it makes me want to…”
Lukas doesn’t finish his sentence, his brows furrowing even further.
“It makes you want to?” I asked, curious to know what he was going to say.
“Never mind, let’s go.”
We get off the stage and are walking to the entrance, when Preston comes into my mind.
“Preston, Alpha Preston, have you seen him?” I asked Lukas.
“Preston? He was here?” Lukas features change as fast as a heartbeat to ones of pure rage.
I nod. “Yes, he is the one behind this auction.”
Lukas’ rage heightens tenfold, his eyes glowing a bright blue, he goes to run backstage in search of the coward, but I stop him mid-step, grabbing him by his arm.
“Don’t go, please, stay with me. I am sure he has already fled somewhere far; you won’t find him here.”
I know I am acting like a weakling, but I feel safer with him around, even my wolf is telling me to stick close to him.
Lukas ponders for a second, weighing his options, then drapes an arm around my shoulders and leads me out of the room, while ordering his warriors to search the place.
We get on a black SUV, Lukas is sitting on my left, while Derrick is on my right, Dylan is shotgun, and a warrior I’ve never met gets behind the wheel. We tear out of the parking lot, and I feel even more relieved than I was before, now I feel completely safe, away from that awful place.
But one thought keeps nagging at me, where is Derek?
I try to mind-link him, now that I have my powers back, but still get blocked, so I try Damon, and I manage to reach him.
“Damon, where is Derek?” I asked him urgently.
“He’s supposed to be with you on the yacht. What happened? Where are you?” Damon immediately gets into alert mode.
“The trip, it was a trap, Grace drugged me and sold me to Alpha Preston, who in turn tried to sell me to the best bidder. Derek never got on that yacht, Grace said that he left with Emma, but I don’t believe her, something must have happened to him, you need to find him.”
“What the fuck, I only understood half of what you said, but you can go into the details later. Where are you now? Are you safe? Are you hurt?”
Damon is really worked up now, I can feel his rage and worry radiating through the link.
“I am ok, Lukas and his warriors came to save me, I am with them now, and we are on our way back, although I don’t know how long it will take, because I don’t really know where I am. Let me ask Lukas, and I’ll link you back. But you need to focus on finding Derek, I can’t link him, he’s blocking me, I am worried something has happened to him. Please, Damon, you need to find him.”
“I am working on it now, let me know your location when you get the info from Lukas, and stay safe. We’ll find him, Luna, I can promise you that.”
The certainty in his voice makes me feel hopeful, if someone is able to pull this off, it is definitely Damon.
Thinking about finding people, a question pops into my mind, how did Lukas know that I was missing, and where to find me?
“How did you know I was in trouble? Everyone thought I was on a trip with Derek,” I asked Lukas, trying not to sound accusingly.
“Derrick and Dylan, I told you I have appointed them as your guards, and they have been keeping watch over you this whole time. They saw you passed out on the yacht, and new something was wrong, so they called me while they were following the yacht, and I left with a team as soon as I heard their news. We were lucky, we got there just in time, one hour later and you would have already been sold to some psycho.”
My mouth hangs open in surprise. They have been following me this whole time without me noticing; did Derek know? If he did, he would never let it show.
If they were there, maybe they would have seen what happened to Derek.
I turn to my right, and ask Derrick urgently, “Did you see what happened to Derek? He never got on the yacht! Where did he go?”
Derrick clears his throat, unease evident in his features.
“I am not sure, I was focused on watching you, when I heard the car you came with depart, and saw Emma and Derek sitting in the middle. The car sped away fast, so I wasn’t able to see clearly.”
“But how was Derek? Was he awake? Maybe, he was unconscious?” I asked in a pleading tone, not willing to accept the fact that he might have really left me there to be with Emma. Did he arrange this trip to get rid of me? The thought makes me sick to my stomach.
