“So, Alpha, does it mean you are coming with me to the rescue?” I ask him with a small smile.

“It’s not like you are giving me another choice,” he replies moodily.

Great, on a mission with Mr. Broody, that’s going to be fun!

“All that eye rolling will get you a headache; let’s go before they send reinforcements, and we get caught again off-guard,” Derek scolds.

“Yes, daddy!” I reply mockingly, getting through the door and into the corridor.

Derek slaps my ass from behind, and I turn around to give him a piercing glare.

“Hey, you asked for it, plus your naked butt looks too inviting, I couldn’t resist. I want to give it a bite, really,” he replies cockily, lust clear in his eyes.

“How can you think about that in this situation?” I asked him bewildered. “Maybe it’s better if you walk in front.”

Derek starts walking in front of me, and my gaze lands on his sexy ass, damn, now I know what he was talking about, I want to take a bite out of it too!

Derek turns his head around grinning, knowing exactly what I am thinking about. Stupid mate bond!

“Where are we going?” I ask, after we have walked for a few meters.

“I don’t know, you started in this direction, I thought you knew where you were going.”

We are a couple of idiots!

“No, I don’t know where they have taken her. This place is huge, it could take hours to look behind each door.”

“Maybe we could find some info in the office,” Derek offers.

“Or maybe, I know a better way,” I say through the link, not wanting to be overheard.

We scour the floor trying to find a place without cameras, and we end up in a toilet.

“Are you sure there will be no cameras here?” I asked Derek perplexed.

“Well, no one enjoys seeing other people pooping, so I suppose this place is camera free.”

“Yuk, that’s just the image I needed in my mind right now.”

“Hey, you asked to know. Come here,” Derek says while sitting on the toilet, and placing me on his lap.

“This time, keep it short, and don’t exert your powers,” he admonishes.

“I know, I know. Deep down Alphas are all boring grandpas.”

“Hey!”

“Shush, I need to concentrate!” I tell him, not wanting to hear the end of it.

I summon my powers, and focus on the image of Cindy, and like last time, I materialize in her proximity, only this time I am not in a corridor, but in a large round room, it’s all white and pretty much empty, with only five wooden chairs in the center, to which five women are chained to with silver chains, the one right in the middle being Cindy.

This situation looks terribly familiar; the day they tortured mom and me immediately coming to the front of my mind.

And it looks like a trap too.

I walk around the room, the women are all unconscious, and there is no one else inside the room. There’s one door at the back of the room, I walk to it and pass through, walking into a white corridor, the exact copy of the other corridors I have seen on the other floors.

I walk to the stairs and run up one flight after the other, until I get to the fourth floor, where the office is, I have counted six floors, which means that that room is on the 10th floor, right on the floor Derek and hide are hiding in!

I run down the steps at top speed, wanting to check if I am right, and when I get to the 10th floor, instead of going back to the round room, I run down the corridor, until I find the door to the bathroom, where Derek and I are staying.

I pass through the locked door, and I see us, me sitting on Derek’s lap, unconscious, his arms holding me tightly, but with tenderness. My head is resting on his bicep, while his face is only inches from mine, like he’s going to kiss me any moment, but from the scowl on his face I think he is more probably worrying why I haven’t woken up yet.

Looking at us from the outside, I must admit that we look good together, we look like a well assorted couple, and not the unbalanced duo I always had in my mind, being him a God and me, well just me.

“When you have finished contemplating the scene, would you mind come back in here, so that we can go rescue your friend and be done with it?” Derek says annoyedly, while looking straight at me.

Is it possible that he can see me?

“Yes, I can see you, so come back in here,” he says, while pointing with his chin at my sleeping figure.

I can’t help staring at him in utter surprise; no one was able to see me, but he can, how? Is it because he’ s my mate? Maybe he’s a sorcerer, that would explain the mind reading part too.

While pondering the various possibilities, I walk towards myself, and when I get at about two steps distance, a sucking sensation, like that of a powerful vacuum cleaner, draws me to my body, pulling me back in where I was missing. That’s another way of ending my visions, good to know.

I open my eyes to a skeptical Derek, his signature eyebrow raised, a not very pleased expression on his face.

“So, wandering kitty, where you just strolling around while I was here holding you and worrying you wouldn’t wake up anymore?”

“Dramatic much…” I comment, looking the other way.

Derek huffs in annoyance and disbelief.

“Then, tell, what were you doing?”

I don’t even know why he would think I owe him any explanation at all, but as we are in this together, I decided I’d better try to explain myself.

“I found Cindy, but didn’t know which floor she was on, so I ran up the stairs to the office floor counting the floors, and noticed that she was on the 10th floor, so I came back to the 10th floor, and ran to find us to make sure we are really on the same floor. And it turns out, we are.”

“Ok, but why were you staring at us like that?”

“Because…I just noticed how good we look together and was trying to save the scene into my memory bank,” I don’t know why, but I blush a little saying those words, expressing my feelings has never been one of my strong points.

His eyes soften at my confession, and before I know it, his lips are on mine, kissing me intensely, making my body tingle with desire.

He breaks the kiss far too soon for my liking, landing another small kiss on my nose, and one on my forehead. I like these gestures of endearment, even if they are small, they make me feel loved and cared for.

“So, kitten, tell me what you saw.”

I tell Derek everything, and we are discussing an action plan when Derek asks me something which nearly makes me slap my forehead amazed by my own stupidity.

“If you can create an illusion around you, isn’t it the same as making yourself invisible?”
