Derek doesn’t seem phased by Jackson’s question or by his disrespectful tone, he keeps his face straight, and answers in a calm tone.

“Yes, I haven’t accessed the underground facility myself, but my Luna, Beta, warriors and the prisoners have all given a similar description of the environment and of the business happening below the ground, so I have no reason not to believe it.”

“You have no reason not to believe it?” Jackson asks with his eyebrows raised high; mockery clear in his voice.

He just gained himself the first spot on my death list. No one talks to my mate like that!

“A good Alpha should always maintain an impartial and analytic stance and try to discern the situation taking into consideration all proofs and circumstances, not only listening to the words of people he thinks he can trust.

I have personally interrogated all the subjects you labelled as wardens, who were brought to the court soon after the destruction of their hospital building, and they all reported the same truth, that they were employed in a government owned hospital, which carries out research on illnesses which affect humans and werewolves alike. They were working for the good of our species, when your warriors and your Luna’s mother barged into the facility, killed and kidnapped everyone they could lay their hands on, and destroyed the whole place.”

What the fuck is he talking about? Is he under heavy drugs?

Even Derek is losing his cool now, his brows are furrowed in a deep frown, and his lips are set into a tight line.

I am this close to jump on stage and punch that shit-faced sorry excuse for an Alpha in the face. I am quite sure that with the aid of surprise, I can successfully get in a good punch.

“How do you explain my mate’s kidnapping, then? If they were, as you say, innocent hospital workers, why would they kidnap two civilians by force, and even kill one during their operation?”

Derek has resumed his calmness, and counter questions.

Good point, honey! Explain that, Alpha Jackass!

“Well, as you know, desperate times, call to desperate measures. Luna Hazel and her now deceased mother, were officially invited multiple times to take part into the research to find a cure for the worst disease now threatening our species, but they refused to offer their help time and time again. Only white wolves are immune to this disease, and their body holds the key to finding a cure for everyone. But they have being selfish, and refused to participate to the research, leaving the government no other choice but to coerce them by force, for the greater good. Josh Channing, Hazel’s father, tried to obstruct the officials carrying out their job, and ferociously attacked them, not listening to reason, he had become feral, and left the officers no other choice but to put him down.”

This is the last straw!

“This is all bullshit!” I yell jumping on stage, too fast for Lukas or Damon to stop me.

Thoughts of keeping my powers sealed and hidden during this meeting all gone out the window; my rage and indignation getting the better of me.

I stand in front Alpha Jackson, my eyes blazing green, white light glowing around me, my clothing camouflage gone, not caring anymore about it.

Derek is immediately beside me, ready to stop me or to protect me, I am not sure which, maybe both; his Alpha aura also floating around him like hot fire.

The other members of the court have got to their feet and are now standing on both sides of Jackson, trying to intimidate us, and scare us with their aggregated power.

“Hello, Luna Hazel. Thank you for joining us. Now, we both know I am not talking bullshit; I believe you are just upset because this revelation makes you look bad, after all the scandals about you, another blow to your image.”

This son of a …. Don’t kill him, don’t kill him, don’t kill him…

“I couldn’t care less about my image, but I do care about people seemingly in power spreading lies and false information to the masses to keep them in the dark about what is really happening. So, I will show you what’s really going on.”

I use my powers to project my memories in the room, it feels like watching a 3D movie. First I show them the memory of my vision, then of my abduction, and I have to refrain a sob at the sight of dad being killed again before my eyes, then the memory of the torture, and I feel Derek placing his arm around my waist, silently consoling me, and giving me the strength to go on showing what’s left, me nearly dying, mom and me escaping, and mom going back down to rescue the prisoners, up until the facility is destroyed.

When I am done, I dare a look at the people in attendance, and I see shocked faces looking at me, people trying to process what they have just watched. Lukas and Damon can barely contain their fury, while Alice, who is standing near the entrance for surveillance, has silent tears running down her cheeks, her lips trembling slightly.

“So, tell me, how can you still affirm that this is a common hospital facility, carrying out research for diseases? Innocent werewolves were being cut into pieces there, and what about the torture?” I asked Jackson, my voice dripping with venom and unmasked anger.

“The memories you kindly showed us, Luna Hazel, they don’t mean anything. You were under wolfsbane and drugs, your vision of the whole thing was completely distorted, tainted by your fears and hallucinations. They can’t stand as proof,” Alpha Jackson states in an unnervingly condescending tone.

“Ok, and what about this, then?” I say, showing everyone the memory of those creatures attacking us in the woods at Moon Shade pack. “Tell me that these are not monsters created surgically? Half human – half werewolf. It doesn’t take a genius to connect the dots and understand that what I have seen in that facility and these creatures are strictly related. And this time I was not under the effect of wolfsbane or other drugs.”

“I am not sure about the provenance of these creatures, and the Court will definitely make it its duty to look into it. However, from your memory here, we can clearly see that their only aim is attacking you, the other unfortunate fellow werewolves got caught in the crossfire, which was caused by your presence on their territory. I am not sure on the reason of your mutual belligerence; this is something that should be addressed by your Alpha first. But I think there is another reason why you are showing us all this, isn’t it? You need everyone’s support to carry out your plan.”

“My plan?” I ask, completely taken by surprise, what is he talking about?

“Yes, your plan of annihilating the whole human species.”

This man is seriously taking drugs, and very strong ones, he needs to get in rehab or to an asylum, whichever he fancies, but he shouldn’t be here leading people, that’s for sure.

“Excuse me? My plan of what?” I ask in disbelief. “I have been raised as a human and I thought I was a human until a couple of weeks ago, I am practically half human, why would I want to kill all humanity? What you are saying is absurd.”

“Is it? I don’t think so. All white wolves have always tried to reach the top, they crave power, they like to be worshipped. And for you, the fact that you have been raised as a human, your ignorance of the werewolves’ world, is like a disgrace, a dishonor you cannot accept, that’s why you hate them, and want to cancel all humans from the face of the earth.”

I’m left speechless for a second, how did he even got to such an intricated and out of this world, crazy theory? I am so stunned by his words, that I don’t even get angry, being this whole situation absolutely insane.
