Mine to Protect Chapter 139: THE VALLEY OF THE FAIRIES

I don’t know what to answer her, I am honestly feeling a little speechless.

“I hate to break your bubble, but you are the only one who thinks I am sexy, to everyone else I am just an average plain young woman, who looks completely common in a T-shirt and jeans,” she says in a calm tone, like she is trying to explain something obvious to a kid.

“Oh, my kitten, you have no idea how wrong you are, you don’t see yourself clearly.”

“And I think we will never agree on this; but let’s put one thing straight, I am not going to change my clothes, and the cap is out of the question,” she says in a flat tone, a pointed look on her cute commander face.

“Not even to put my heart at ease?” I reply with a pout and my puppy eyes on full display.

She glares at me for a long moment, and when I think my charms are not working on her anymore, she groans and slumps her shoulders a little.

“Ok, I’ll change my T-shirt, but I am definitely not wearing a cap!”

She stomps to our wardrobe, and chooses a large black T-shirt, which reaches her middle-thigh, it has the image of a cute kitten on the back, and I can’t help a silly smile, hoping she won’t notice. She’s damn cute wearing that, my little kitten.

Once changed, she comes back to where I am standing, her annoyance clear in her posture and her features.

“Are we good to go now, grampa?”

Now it’s my turn to raise an eyebrow. I get closer to her, my hands firm on her hips, I lower my lips to her ear and whisper, “Call me grampa again, and I will show you what this grampa can do, the catch is, I will not stop, not even when you beg me,” I close my little threat with a low growl, and satisfaction feels me when I see her shiver a little, both in fear and in excitement. That’s my girl.

I kiss her soft lips again, a deep warm kiss that ignites a fire in both of us, the smell of her arousal is thick in the air, driving me mad for her; but we don’t have the time to indulge in our pleasure, so reluctantly, I end the kiss, with the promise that soon I will give her what she wants, and how she wants it, as soon as tonight is over.

We get to the Valley by car, to save our energies for the battle. It is a long tense ride, everyone is on edge for what it is to come, for the threatening unknown that is wearing heavily on us.

Some moments I wonder if I made the right decision contacting Alpha Jackson, or if I made just a big mistake that we’ll cost us dearly. Please, Moon Goddess, help us get Alice back, she doesn’t deserve any harm coming to her, please, please.

I keep pleading in my head, although I know it is useless, but somehow it helps me stay focused, and not let my mind wonder about other possible grim scenarios.

Our convoy divides into three groups, ours will attack from the south, the other two from east and west; steep rocky mountains cover the north part like a barrier, preventing any possible escape.

Derek and I are on the same team, Damon is leading the east team, while Ryder is leading the west team. After Alice’s disappearance, he’s asked to come back to Crescent Moon to help with the search, he looked completely devastated, I can only imagine that kind of despair, if it were Derek the one kidnapped, I would be out of my mind, I would go insane with worry.

We get to the location and Derek opens the door for me after the car stops. It’s sweet, I like this small attentions he gives me, so I reward him with an innocent kiss on his cheek, and he smiles back his cutest dimpled smile, which just makes me want to bring him down to my lips for a much less innocent kiss, but I refrain, seeing the gravity of what we are going to do, and the number of eyes that are already on us, waiting for orders.

Derek takes my hand and leads me toward the group of warriors that is forming not far from where we are.

“Everyone, switch your headsets on and check if they are all working properly,” Derek orders through the link. We have decided to use headsets, since last time I was attacked I was not able to mind-link. They must have developed some kind of device that messes up our mind-link; I just hope the headsets will not be influenced by it too.

Once everyone confirms, Derek continues through the link, “Tonight we’ll fight two fires, Westside River Pack warriors, led by Alpha Jackson, and humans. Know that we might encounter also being’s half werewolf and half human, beware of their claws, they might be dipped in silver or poison. Darts and bullets might also contain silver and poison, so do your best to avoid them as well. Your Luna will keep you shielded, but just in case something happens, be prepared. Even though you have all been administered with the antidote to the poison, it could still affect you, and we honestly don’t know if they have perfected it or if they have created new ones, so stay clear of their claws, try to avoid darts and bullets.

Today our target is finding Alice’s location; we have already lost many to those bastards, and we can’t allow them to take one more of our lives. So, keep at least one of those dipshits alive for interrogation.”

“Yes, Alpha!” everyone replies in chorus through the link.

When everyone is gathered and ready to go, Derek pulls me to the side, to talk to me privately, his face is serious, and although I can see determination in his eyes, I see worry too.

“You’ll stay close to me, you won’t go for Jackson or Alice alone, are we clear?” he’s still using his Alpha commander voice, and it is incredibly sexy.

I nod my head yes, to appease his worries, although I am not sure I would be able to refrain myself, if I got the chance to get Jackson or Alice when I am alone.

He gazes at me unconvinced for a second, then exhales deeply.

“I will make sure that you don’t stray too far from me, then. Be careful out there kitten, I love you,” he says in his sweetest voice, and my heart melts completely.

“I love you too, handsome.”

He must have felt the truth in my words, because the next second he smiles widely, and then takes me into his arms and kisses me lovingly. A slow sweet kiss, fueled more from love than from sexual attraction. This kiss is a testament to his love for me and my love for him, something we can both hold on to, if anything happens to the other.

The kiss ends far too soon, but that’s normal, when you want it to last forever.

We look into each other’s eyes for a few moments, and although we are not saying anything, we are silently telling each other to be careful, to be safe, to not get hurt or worse, because we both know that anything happening to one of us, will hurt us both.

I nod to Derek, letting him know that I am ready, and he pulls me by my hand to the front of the group, where he gives the signal, and we all start running towards our target.

We ran through the thick woods towards the clearing in the middle, where the meeting should have happened. Now it’s already midnight, one hour after the time the meeting with Jackson was set. Alpha Jackson had tried to link me a couple of times during this hour, but I have ignored all his attempts, we need him to think that he’s been stood up, this way we will have the element of surprise.
