Mine to Protect Chapter 142: DOG TRAINER

I spot him not far away on the south part, and I make my way to him quickly, worried he might try to flee before I can confront him. When I am close enough, his guards enclose him in a protective circle, concerned that I might try to hurt their Alpha, and in truth I might hurt him a little, if he doesn’t cooperate, so their fear is not totally unfounded, although they are idiots if they think they can stop me.

“Out of the way!” I order when I am a few steps distance.

I’ve put my Alpha command in this order, so they can only obey me, and I feel incredibly satisfied when they move to the sides, leaving their Alpha exposed in the middle. There’s something inebriating about ordering others around and being obeyed, I wonder if Derek will let me try it in the bedroom too.

I push dirty thoughts of Derek as my sex slave and focus instead on the foxy Alpha in front of me.

“So, Alpha Jackson, care to explain what happened here? Wasn’t this supposed to be a friendly meeting?”

He raises an eyebrow, feigning innocence.

“When did I ever say it’d be a friendly meeting? You are very naïve if you thought so yourself.”

Bastard!

“Besides, as you can see, I am a victim here as much as you, they have attacked me and my men too.”

“Maybe you should reconsider your alliances, Alpha Jackson. It’s clear that not even being a traitor to our kind has put you in a good light before them, considering that they have tried to wipe you out together with our lot.”

Alpha Jackson frowns a little at my words, but apart from that, he seems deep in thought, his face unreadable. This man has a poker face always ready for use, I kind of envy his unreadableness.

“Kitten, come here a minute, on the east side,” Derek calls through the link.

I shift my gaze in his direction, and I see that he’s gathered with Damon and Ryder, and a number of warriors there. Even from afar, I can feel his piercing gaze pinned on me, and I know that he is protecting me even from afar, my protective, possessive Alpha, he’s cute and sexy as hell, all at the same time.

“Stay!” I command Alpha Jackson and his minions, and I can’t help a huge smirk when I see Alpha Jackson’s head nearly explode in his fury, at being commanded as a dog. He emits a loud roar of rage, so I add up on the command, “And quiet!”

He chocks on his next roar of disdain, and I turn directly on my heels, chuckling light-heartedly, while leaving him behind to wallow in his fury. God, I am evil!

Derek looks at me curiously when I reach him with a huge, satisfied smile shining bright on my lips.

“What evil have you done now?” he asks me with his signature raised eyebrow.

“Evil? Me? Never. I have just taught a dog how to behave. Apparently, I am a good trainer, you should see the results.”

He looks at me funny for a second, then grabs my hand and pulls me forward, towards what everyone is worriedly staring at.

I let him guide me, and when we stop, I can see why everyone is so on edge, there’s a hole in the ground, like some kind of black tunnel that goes straight down in the ground.

“What is this?” I ask Derek.

“We have no idea; it looks like a tunnel or something like that.”

I take a step closer, wanting to check if I can see anything in the darkness of the tunnel, but Derek immediately pulls me back.

“Curiosity kills the cat, ever heard this saying?”

I pout at him, “I just wanted to check if I can see anything in the tunnel.”

“What if it is a trap? The ground around it could be set up with explosives, electricity or even poison. Those creeps attacked us from the west, it is clear that they wanted to push us east.”

I honestly haven’t even thought about this, he might be right, but Alice could be down there, I need to check, I need to make sure.

“I could try using the materialization, I mean, usually I would need a person as a tether, but being so close, I might not need it, it’s worth a try. I need to find out if Alice is down there or not. There must be a reason they chose this location for this meeting.”

Derek seems on the verge of arguing, but then I take his hands in mine, and plead with him, plead with everything I have, because if there is even an ounce of a chance that Alice is here, I need to take it.

“Please, Derek, I beg you, let me try. No harm can come to me when I am in that form, you know that, and you will protect my body while I am there, right?”

He stares at me for a second, then exhales and nods.

“But if you find anything dangerous down there, you come back immediately, ok? I don’t won’t to risk any part of you.”

I nod with a smile, my overprotective Alpha.

I am going to flop on the ground, when Derek pulls me into his arms, and then brings me down with him, he ends up sitting cross legged on the ground, with me sitting on top of him, his strong arms firm around my waist.

He can be so sweet sometimes.

He taps his shoulder with his hand, and I rest my head there, closing my eyes to concentrate.

“Don’t worry, kitten, I'll protect you. “

“I have no doubt about it,” comes my cocky reply. And he answers with a soft kiss on my forehead, causing tingles to run through me. At this rate, we'll end up making out again, instead of finding out what’s at the end of the tunnel, I need to concentrate.

With some effort, I managed to focus enough to complete the materialization, even without a tether, I suppose being this close to the target venue helped.

I make my way to the tunnel, while Derek whispers, “Be careful.”

I nearly forgot that he could see me. I turn around towards him and blow him a kiss, getting a cheeky smile in return.

It's strange to see myself from the outside, but I love to see how his strong arms are draped softly around me, like he’s taking care of something incredibly precious.
