At that moment, while pretending to sleep, Benjamin first smelled the sweet milk scent on Nina.

She had probably had formula before bed again—the sweet smell lingered on her.

Just as he was taking in her scent, Nina, frustrated that he still wouldn't wake up, scrunched her tiny face and, without any warning, swung her chubby hand.

She started patting Benjamin's handsome face.

"Daddy, wake up!" Nina smacked and called at the same time.

Benjamin opened his eyes decisively and caught her little hand.

The first thing he said was, "Nina, I'm going to tell your mom you hit me."

Her tiny hand was captured, and she was being threatened. Nina's eyes instantly went round.

"No!" Her voice was loud and stubborn. "No tell Mammy!"

Benjamin said with a flat expression, "You hurt me. I have to tell her."

She repeated "no" several times, but Benjamin still didn't let go and even acted like he was about to get up and find Amelia.

That was when Nina finally panicked.

She threw herself onto his arm, her baby voice losing all its earlier confidence.

"No tell Mammy. Mammy hit. Hit Nina."

She might have been small, but her mind worked just fine.

She was only slow when it came to learning, and that was mostly because her attention span was terrible and she hated studying.

Pressured by Amelia over time, Nina had grown more cunning. She struggled to free her little hand, then reached up to cup Benjamin's face.

"Daddy, no hurt. No hit. Nina no hit."

One moment, she insisted he didn't hurt, the next she claimed she hadn't hit him at all.

Benjamin didn't respond. He just watched her quietly.

Seeing he wasn't saying anything, Nina didn't give up. She kept trying to coax him, "Daddy, Nina love you!"

Nina puckered her lips and began planting little kisses on Benjamin's cheek.

Between kisses, she whispered soft declarations. "Nina so love you!"

Benjamin had good self-control. Even under her sugary assault, he didn't give in right away.

She coaxed him for several long minutes. When her patience started running out and she looked ready to slap him again, he finally spoke, "Alright. Sit over there. I'll get your clothes."

Benjamin immediately switched into getting-her-dressed mode.

Seeing that he didn't mention tattling anymore, Nina straightened her back with confidence.

She thought she was safe. But too early.

"Daddy, no shoe."

Feeling bold again, she got mouthy in front of Benjamin.

He changed her into a little dress, but she refused to wear shoes.

She kicked her soft, chubby feet and giggled, refusing to let Benjamin hold them.

He shot her a look and said calmly, "If you don't wear shoes, you're not going out to play."

Nina's laugh died instantly.

Her lips quivered as she obediently let him grab her foot and put on her sandals.

The new sandals originally had little glowing wings, but Nina had torn them off after wearing them once.

Her tiny hands loved pulling things apart.

After putting on her shoes, Benjamin didn't take her out yet. He washed her face and hands first.

"Daddy, no wash face."

Nina didn't want her face washed today either.

Benjamin, who had a strong sense of cleanliness, absolutely refused to let his daughter be grubby.

He grabbed a wet towel and wiped her whole face in one go, just like Amelia did.

It looked exactly like wiping down a table.

Nina yelled, "No, no!"

She protested loudly, but her face ended up clean anyway.

She was too small, and Benjamin was too strong. She couldn't resist.

He spent the entire morning taking care of the early-rising Nina.

When William and Amelia finally got up, washed, and came to the dining room, the family gathered.

William glanced around, didn't see Daniel, and asked, "Where's Daniel? Still not up?"

He frowned, ready to criticize Daniel first thing in the morning.

The housekeeper replied with a smile, "Daniel got up early. He went out at five."

William snapped, "That's not getting up early. That means he didn't sleep at all!"

He glanced at Benjamin feeding Nina and thought Benjamin seemed like a completely different person now that he had Amelia and Nina.

Benjamin had a wife and daughter now.

Daniel, that troublemaker, still had nothing. Every day, he just messed around.

William sighed and, feeling helpless, said to Benjamin, "You need to keep an eye on your brother when you have time. At least make him work a job. I've talked to him so many times."

Benjamin responded casually, still feeding Nina without pausing.
