Miracle Cutie Chapter 349: Nina Meets Trevor
Daniel sent, "Guess where I am right now? The Smith Manor! Haha, bet you didn't see that coming!"
He happily shared the news in his group chat that he'd made it inside Smith Manor.
The others in the chat were genuinely surprised. Even Lucas held off on his usual scolding.
Lucas sent a single question mark and asked, "Trevor actually let you through the door?"
"You're totally riding Nelson's coattails today."
"Nina's there too, right?"
"Have you seen Trevor yet?"
The group kept firing questions. Daniel replied casually, "Haven't seen him. Seems like Trevor isn't home."
Since Trevor hadn't appeared at all, Daniel naturally assumed he wasn't around.
While Daniel was busy chatting, Nina had already wandered from the living room into the toy room.
Two staff members from the Smith family followed them discreetly.
Daniel glanced over, saw they were keeping a respectful distance, and let the kids go play in peace.
"Nelson, so many toy!" Nina said happily.
Nelson said, all calm, "Yeah. If you like any, you can take them."
He had always been generous with Nina. Even when she didn't ask, he'd offer his things.
The two little ones played in the toy room for a while, but soon Nina grew restless.
Smith Manor had so many rooms—and Nina loved exploring every single one.
She went to Nelson's bedroom first.
Then she pushed open the other doors.
In each room she entered, she strutted around like a tiny queen inspecting her territory, making a full circle before heading out to the next one.
She kept patrolling like that until she reached the study door.
Nina reached up to push it open.
Two staff members gently blocked her. "Miss, you can't go in there."
They only stopped her verbally.
After they finished speaking, Nina blinked a few times.
The very next second, right in front of them, she shoved the study door wide open with all her strength.
Trevor, who had been sitting inside, heard the noise and lifted his gaze toward the doorway.
He saw Nina. But Nina hadn't spotted him yet.
She was still too short. Even though Amelia made her drink milk every single day for calcium, Nina had grown tired of it. Lately, whenever she saw a glass coming, she'd cover her mouth and refuse.
Because she wasn't tall enough, her line of sight didn't catch Trevor at first. But once she pushed her way in, she started strutting around the room like she owned it.
The study had books everywhere—floor-to-ceiling shelves packed from top to bottom.
There were also beautiful decorative pieces scattered around.
Nina spotted a globe.
"Ball!"
She pointed and shouted, then immediately reached out with her little hands.
In the next second, she pried the spherical part right out of the globe stand.
Trevor, seated behind the desk and watching the entire thing unfold, furrowed his brows. His handsome face remained expressionless as his long fingers tapped lightly on the solid wood surface—a quiet reminder, and a subtle warning.
The sudden sound startled Nina.
She hugged the little ball tightly. Instead of running away, she hurried over to the source of the noise—the desk.
She tilted her chubby face up and finally saw Trevor.
Facing his gaze, Nina showed zero fear.
She stood there like the little owner of the place, eyeing him suspiciously. "Who you?"
Trevor didn't answer.
Nina saw he wasn't speaking, so she freed one chubby hand and patted his leg. "You no talk?"
Trevor still had no intention of responding.
Nina hated being ignored more than anything.
Trevor's complete indifference made her very unhappy.
Unhappy Nina, emboldened by the fact that her mom and dad were not around, lifted her chubby hand again, ready to hit him a few more times. Before she could, Nelson ran over.
Nelson said to her, "Nina, he's my dad."
When Nina saw Nelson, she had already lowered her raised hand.
She was prepared to stop hitting. But after hearing Nelson's words, something clicked in her little head. Her chubby face tightened, and her anger was obvious.
She slapped Trevor again.
"Bad Daddy!"
Nina's little face turned red with anger. "Hit Nelson. So bad! Nina hit you!"
Even now, Nina couldn't recall more than five numbers.
But a long time ago, when she first met Nelson and noticed the injuries on him, Nelson had told her that his dad did it. That sentence had stuck in her memory ever since.
Not only did she remember it, but she also held a grudge.
Her small palm swung again. Trevor, who had been hit, heard that she was standing up for Nelson. The deep frown between his brows eased slightly.
He didn't take Nina's little slaps seriously.
He only said coldly, "Nelson, take her out."
Nelson didn't speak. He simply took Nina's small hand and pulled her toward the door.
The two little ones tugged at each other until they reached the doorway.
Nina suddenly plopped down on the floor and refused to move.
She was still very angry.
Nelson knew her anger was all for his sake.
So he held onto Nina's hand and said to her, "Nina, my dad is sick."
