Miracle Cutie Chapter 496: Burst Into Tears
The more Daniel told Nina not to call Alice honey, the more she shouted it.
Nina reached out and touched Alice, then said firmly to Daniel, "My honee."
Daniel sighed, completely at a loss.
The two were fighting over who got to call her honey—but before they could settle it, Daniel had to go meet Shaun, who was on his way over.
Several other doctors were coming with Shaun, too.
As Daniel left the room, Nina leaned her whole body against Alice and snuggled close.
She was still claiming Alice as her own.
Daniel gave her a complicated look and left her with his girlfriend. "Nina, stay here with her. I'll be right back."
He told Nina to stay put and asked Alice to keep an eye on her, too.
Daniel didn't want Nina running off.
Alice nodded and watched him walk out.
The second Daniel left, Noelle showed up at the hospital. She carried pastries from the shop near the hospital entrance and pushed the door open.
Noelle said, "Alice, I just couldn't stop worrying about you.
"I heard you moved to this room, so I came to check on you again.
"Look, I brought you some snacks.
"I even got cupcakes—the kid can eat these, too."
Noelle had been shut down by both Daniel and Nina, but she refused to give up.
She planned to win Nina over first.
She is little and seems easy to fool.
She thought a few snacks would make Nina like her.
Noelle's plan sounded good, but she was dead wrong.
The little girl she thought was easy to trick was actually the toughest kid around.
Snacks wouldn't work on her at all.
Nina didn't even let Noelle finish her nice words before telling her to leave.
She babbled, "No. Go 'way."
Nina had been sitting on the bed. She climbed down smoothly, barefoot, and started pushing Noelle.
She was determined to shove her right out.
Noelle's smile nearly broke as Nina pushed her.
She called out helplessly to Alice, "Alice!"
Alice looked from Noelle to Nina.
She wanted a friend, but she didn't want to upset Nina either.
To fix things between them, she stared at Noelle and struggled to sign with only one hand.
She signed, "Can you go home for now? I'll treat you to dinner when I'm better.
"Thank you for staying with me today.
"I really appreciate it.
"Nina's just little. She's shy around strangers.
"But she's a really sweet girl, I promise."
Signing with one hand was hard for Alice.
But she still took the time to praise Nina anyway.
Nina couldn't understand most of the signs.
Noelle understood every single one, though.
It only made her angrier.
She'd worked hard to learn sign language just to be friends with Alice.
But none of her efforts had paid off—Alice still didn't care about her.
Noelle was furious inside, but she hid it well.
She backed off to make Alice feel bad. "Alright, Alice. If you don't need me here, I'll go so I don't put you in an awkward spot."
Her words made Alice want to explain herself.
But Noelle didn't give her the chance.
She spoke in an even sadder tone, saying she'd leave and not bother them anymore.
Alice didn't have the heart to make her leave right away.
She tried to think of how to tell Noelle not to overthink things.
Meanwhile, Nina kept pushing Noelle—either tired or mad, she huffed and puffed, her round cheeks bright red.
Noelle was secretly fighting back against Nina.
If she'd given up, Nina would've pushed her out already.
Nina's chubby little body had real strength.
The two of them kept pushing back and forth.
Noelle was desperate to stay, just to see Daniel and talk to him more.
She let Nina push her while stepping backward. When she reached the table, she made up her mind and threw herself to the floor.
Nina tried to hold her back from falling, but Noelle was a grown woman.
She was stronger than Nina.
Noelle made herself fall, and Nina got pulled down with her, landing face-first on the ground.
Noelle's forehead hit the edge of the table and turned dark blue right away.
Nina lay on the floor, her chubby face pressed against the ground, and burst into tears.
Alice panicked and tried to get up, but her injured leg wouldn't move.
She tried to call out to Nina, but only a quiet "ah" came out—that was the most she could manage.
Alice's eyes filled with tears from panic—she couldn't speak, and she couldn't move.
Finally, crying, she grabbed her phone and called Daniel.
Daniel was already walking back toward the room.
He answered the call, ready to tease Alice for missing him already.
