Miracle Cutie Chapter 502: Still Busy on Set

Jack understood right away when Benjamin said Nina was sleeping.

He'd dealt with Nina enough to know how she got when woken up.

Jack said quickly, "Alright, I'll make it short.

"Lorna's picking a fight with Stella. Look, right now, Lorna seems like the victim, like Stella's picking on her.

"But I'm still on Stella's side.

"She grew up with us. She's dramatic, she's rude, she's got a bad temper, and she's spoiled... but she's not a bad person.

"She wouldn't just target Lorna for no reason.

"But the two of them have been clashing nonstop.

"Lorna's an actress, too. She and Stella were never on the same set before.

"Somehow, she joined this project—and she's playing the lead.

"I haven't seen her work, but she went to acting school, so her skills are pretty good."

Jack kept talking, and Benjamin only answered now and then.

The two men never got to finish their conversation.

Nina must have been uncomfortable sleeping in the car, or her tiny ears were too sharp and caught their voices.

Either way, she started fussy and squirming in Benjamin's arms.

As soon as she moved, Benjamin set his phone down without hanging up.

"Nina?" he looked down at the wiggling girl and called softly. "Still sleepy?"

Benjamin didn't want her sleeping too much this late in the day.

If she napped now, she'd be up all night causing trouble.

He called her name twice. Nina stretched her short legs straight out on his lap.

Nina kept her eyes squeezed shut and just threw a fit.

She opened her mouth and cried. Benjamin rocked her and patted her back, but nothing calmed her down.

Nina was having a sleep tantrum.

She was half-asleep and half-awake, and her little brain couldn't handle the messy feelings.

It made her miserable, and unlike grown-ups, she didn't hold back.

She just cried as loud as she could.

Luckily, she only cried for a few seconds before Benjamin used his phone to wake her up.

He said, "Nina, someone's calling you. Do you wanna answer?"

At the word "call", Nina lifted her chubby hands and rubbed her eyes.

She finally opened them, her tiny voice still tearful. "My call."

Benjamin said, "Yep, it's for you."

He held the phone up to her.

Jack had switched the call to video. He smiled and waved at Nina on the screen, "Nina! Did you miss me?"

Nina's lip trembled, and she started crying again. "No. No him. No this."

She reached out to swat the phone. Jack thought she didn't want to talk to him at all.

Before he could feel hurt, Benjamin said, "Jack. Call back again. She wants to answer properly."

Jack blinked and said, "Fine."

He hung up and called right back.

This time, Nina held out her teary little finger and tapped the screen to answer herself.

When the call connected, and Jack appeared again, she finally talked to him.

Nina asked, "Where you?"

Jack replied, "I'm at home! Where are you, Nina?"

Nina stared blankly for a second.

She thought for a moment, then answered, "Car."

Jack laughed, "Wow, you're in your car? Can I come sit in your car with you?"

Nina thought and nodded. "Yes."

Jack smiled, "You're such a good girl, Nina."

Tears still glistened in her eyes, but Nina grinned at the compliment. "Nina good."

She touched her mouth, then suddenly said, "Nina yucky."

Jack gasped, "Huh? Are you sick?"

Nina ignored the question. She held up the chubby finger where she'd had her blood drawn and showed it to Jack.

She babbled, "Hand bwood. Ouch. Nina cry."

Nina told Jack every sad thing that had happened to her that day.

She said Daniel had hurt her, and the doctor had hurt her, too.

Everyone was mean to her.

She touched her chest and added, "Nina tiny."

Nina complained very seriously.

But Jack just thought she was absolutely adorable.

Jack smiled, "Nina, you're so cute."

He forgot to comfort the poor little girl and just blurted out how cute she was.

Nina paused for a second, confused.

She blinked her big, round eyes and asked, "Nina cute?"

Jack nodded and laughed, "Super cute! You're the cutest girl in the whole world."

Nina giggled loudly at all the compliments.

The two talked on the phone for a long time.

When they hung up, Amelia still hadn't come out—she was still busy on set.

Thinking about what Jack had told him, Benjamin carried Nina out of the car.
