Miracle Cutie Chapter 504: Ruin Lorna's Reputation
Scandals like this on set never looked good.
Gerard didn't want Benjamin witnessing the mess.
He tried to lead Benjamin off to sit somewhere else.
But Benjamin stared at Amelia, her face still tight with anger, then at the crying Nina in her arms.
He held out his hands to take Nina first.
Nina refused to let him hold her.
She clung to Amelia, holding tight.
When she wouldn't budge, Benjamin asked Amelia, "Amelia, are you alright?"
Amelia said, "Not really."
Having listened to Benjamin and Nina complain nonstop every day, Amelia knew how to tattle, too.
She shot Donna a glance, then said to Benjamin, "This woman spread rumors about me. She said Stella and I are both with Hugh."
Once Amelia finished speaking, Benjamin's face turned ice-cold.
Donna heard her and didn't take it seriously.
She said lightly, "You need proof for things like this. If you say I spread rumors, where's your evidence?"
Donna was sure Amelia had none.
I spoke quietly enough earlier.
Only hearing it isn't enough—Amelia has no proof, so it is her word against mine.
Donna kept demanding proof. She had no idea Amelia didn't need any.
All Amelia had to do was speak up, and Benjamin would defend her.
Benjamin said calmly, even with his dark expression, "Amelia, take Nina to the car and wait for me."
Amelia listened right away.
She turned and left with Nina in her arms.
Nina saw that Benjamin wasn't coming and waved her little hand at him. "Daddy. Daddy."
She didn't want him staying there alone.
After sending Amelia off, Benjamin spoke to Stella and told her to leave, too.
Stella pressed her lips together and did as he asked.
With Amelia and Stella gone, Donna looked at Benjamin, who'd stayed behind. She thought he looked familiar but couldn't place his name.
She frowned and asked, "What do you want?"
"Mr. Graham, leave this to me, please," Gerard sighed, at his wits' end.
He'd sent Donna several sharp looks to shut up or back down, but she hadn't noticed.
Now there was nothing he could do.
I won't keep Lorna or Donna on the show.
Without waiting for Benjamin to speak, Gerard gritted his teeth and said to Donna, "Go to the hospital to check on Lorna. I'll send over the termination contract today.
"Just review it and sign it. We won't be working together again."
Donna froze in shock when she heard this. "Gerard, what do you mean? You're dropping Lorna?"
Gerard said firmly, "Yes. I won't cast her in any of my projects from now on. I'll pay the termination fee."
He was a major director in the industry. Most importantly, his shows were almost all serious dramas.
Even award-winning actors jumped to be in his work—no one wanted to miss out on his projects.
For him to drop Lorna and ban her entirely—this was huge.
Donna didn't care about the fee; she cared about Lorna's career.
She begged, "Gerard, please think again. Lorna's acting is perfect.
"You admired her work, didn't you?
"And Mr. Riley! You know he and Lorna are really tight."
Nothing Donna said worked.
Gerard refused to back down.
Donna didn't want to terminate the contract and couldn't let the termination go public—it would ruin Lorna's reputation.
She said, "Wait."
Then she turned around and called Hugh.
Lucky for her, Hugh was free to answer.
Donna didn't explain the whole story. She only said that Lorna's face had been swollen after Stella slapped her on set, and that she was in the hospital.
She added that Gerard was dropping Lorna and trying to ruin Lorna's career.
Donna pleaded, "Mr. Riley, Lorna's completely innocent in this. If you don't help her now, she's finished."
Donna's tone was nothing like how she'd spoken to Stella.
She played the helpless victim, begging Hugh to save Lorna.
Hugh listened to everything, then asked only one thing. "How's Stella's hand?"
Donna blinked, confused. "What?"
Hugh sounded annoyed at her confusion. "Didn't you learn basic science? Every action has an equal reaction. Lorna's face swelled up—how's my Stella's hand? Is it swollen, too?"
