Miracle Cutie Chapter 513: Can I Kiss You?
He turned on his computer again.
Once more, an email popped up.
Besides the same obsessive love notes, it held threats.
The sender warned Tanner that he could not date any other girl.
She said Tanner belonged to her and no one else.
If any girl tried to take him, she would make that girl die.
In all the old emails, only Tanner had been harassed and threatened.
But this time, the person clearly knew something about Lucille.
This threat made his face go cold, and he hated her even more.
Tanner closed his computer. Nina was still chatting away on the phone.
Nina grew tired of talking. She held the phone and walked out to ask Benjamin for water.
As she asked for a drink, she asked Lucille when she would come to pick her up to go play.
Lucille had never taken care of a kid and didn't know how.
She just said, "I'll come to your place really soon. I'll play with you then, okay?"
Nina said, "Yes. Now?"
Lucille smiled, "Not that fast, sweetie."
The two kept rambling. In the end, Benjamin couldn't stand it anymore and told Nina to give the phone back to Tanner.
Nina wanted to go play with bugs again anyway.
She handed the phone to Tanner nicely. Tanner picked up the call, but Lucille had to go charge her phone after just a few words.
She'd talked so long her battery was nearly dead.
Tanner stared at the ended call, then at Nina running off to the bug room.
He stood quietly for a few seconds, then sat on the living room sofa.
Benjamin looked up when he saw Tanner come out and reminded him right away, "Don't leave her alone in there."
Tanner frowned, confused. He said, "Don't worry. No sharp stuff in there. She won't hurt herself."
Benjamin was quiet for a moment, then said, "I'm not worried about her. I'm worried about your things."
Tanner smiled, "All my bugs are locked in their tanks. She can't—"
He never got to finish. Nina's loud yell came from the room.
She shouted, "Un-coo Tanner! Buggies out!"
Tanner's smile vanished at once.
He jumped up and rushed into the room in big steps.
When he got there, he saw the bug tank wide open.
Nina had climbed on a stool to lift the lid.
The bugs, scared of Nina, had all escaped.
Nina was hunched over, scrambling to catch them.
She turned her chubby face when she heard him walk in.
Nina said innocently, "Un-coo Tanner! Buggies out!"
Tanner took a deep breath and asked, "How did the bugs get out?"
Nina blinked and said nothing.
The two stared at each other for a few seconds. Then Tanner gave up and helped her catch the bugs.
Soon, Nina turned the whole thing into a game.
She giggled loudly and even raced Tanner to see who could catch more.
Night fell completely outside. Nina and Tanner rounded up all the bugs.
Even with his great energy and stamina, Tanner felt tired for the first time while watching a kid.
Benjamin said, "Nina, time to go home."
He called her as it turned dark.
Nina didn't want to leave.
She held Tanner's hand, looking sad. "Go Nina house?"
Tanner said, "I'm not coming. You go home by yourself."
He'd spent the whole afternoon with Nina and just wanted to rest.
Benjamin lifted Nina up, held her hand, and made her wave goodbye to Tanner.
Once Nina was taken home, Tanner dropped into a chair and called Lucille.
Her phone was fully charged again.
She answered and asked about Nina right away. "Where's Nina? Did she leave?"
Tanner smiled, "Yeah, she's gone."
Lucille said, "Okay."
She sounded disappointed. She'd wanted to chat with Nina more.
Nina was so pretty—prettier than any kid star she'd seen on TV.
Just as Lucille was thinking about Nina, Tanner suddenly brought up meeting again.
He said, "Lucille, do you wanna meet up? I can come to you."
He'd asked her before, but Lucille had said no.
She'd told him her city was freezing cold, and she hadn't saved enough money to host him properly.
Tanner knew she came from a simple family, but he didn't care.
But Lucille insisted, and Tanner respected her choice and didn't push it.
Lucille looked at how disappointed Tanner was and almost spilled the secret she shared with Nina.
She was planning to visit him as a surprise.
Lucille held it in and just told him not to rush. "We'll meet for sure. Don't worry."
Then she asked, "Tanner... when we meet, can I kiss you?"
