"Nathan doesn't care about my feelings at all.

"Dad, that little fatty is weird—she's creepy! Even Freya always takes her side!"

Mia kept complaining while Gideon listened on, unconsciously clenching the watering can tighter.

"Is Amelia here?" he asked.

"Amelia?" Mia's scowl deepened. "Dad, why are you so close to Nina's mom anyway? Besides, she isn't here today.

"I can't stand seeing Nina. Thank goodness her mom stayed home."

Mia continued venting.

Gideon took a quiet, deep breath and soothed her. "Mia, enough. You know, Freya and Nathan like Nina, so what you should do is be nicer to her. That way, Freya and Nathan will like you even more.

"You can't keep going against them.

"And I told you to start working at the Wilson Group. Freya already agreed. Why haven't you gone?"

The moment work was mentioned, Mia instantly rebelled. "Dad, Daniel hasn't worked a day in his life either! The family can support me just fine!

"I don't want to work!"

Mia had never been ambitious.

Her grades were terrible, too.

Even when Gideon, a top student himself, tutored her personally, nothing helped.

He had spent years worrying about her education.

Mia simply didn't care.

Seeing she only wanted to enjoy life, Gideon pressed a hand to his temple.

He continued, "Mia, your situation isn't the same as Daniel's. You need to stand on your own two feet and establish yourself in the company soon."

"No!" Mia scrunched her face, done talking to Gideon.

She found him annoying today, too.

She said, "Dad, stop lecturing me. I hate it the most. I'm going to find Mom. Emma's here today—she definitely brought me another present."

The Emma Mia mentioned was Jane's best friend of many years, Emma McLean.

Emma was a well-known psychologist—gentle, not strikingly beautiful, but excellent with people.

She and Jane had been close since university.

Saying she was headed off to find Jane and Emma, Mia turned and left.

Gideon watched her go, brows tightly furrowed.

While Gideon stood frowning, Nina—now completely comfortable in Nathan's arms—had won him over entirely.

Nathan couldn't resist kissing her chubby little hand.

He smiled, "Nina, you need to eat more. You're still a bit thin."

"Okay!" Nina had understood "thin" versus "fat" for ages!

She hated being called a little fatty or told she was heavy.

She loved hearing that she was thin!

Nathan's words hit her right in the heart.

Nina loudly repeated that she was skinny while happily patting Nathan's handsome face.

They were both having the time of their lives.

Benjamin listened to Nathan call Nina thin, held back for a few seconds, then finally asked, "You really think Nina's thin?"

Nathan nodded. "Yeah, she's really not fat. She wasn't even as chubby as Mia was at this age. Mia was super plump back then, just like Nina—she warmed up to anyone and laughed at the slightest tease. Her smiling eyes looked a lot like Nina's."

Years had passed, yet Nathan still remembered his little sister clearly.

He had videos of baby Mia and had watched them countless times.

Every viewing felt like torture. But no matter how painful, he kept watching.

He was terrified that, as time went by, he would forget her chubby little face.

Nathan spoke with a smile, but his eyes suddenly reddened.

He didn't know why, but seeing this slightly chubby Nina made him uncontrollably think of the little Mia his family had lost.

"Why you cry?" Nina noticed Nathan's red eyes. Kids were sensitive to emotions. She instantly sensed his sadness!

She held out her chubby hand and gently brushed his eyes. "No cry! Nina no hit! Nina good!"

Nina tried hard to promise she wouldn't make Nathan cry.

Nathan laughed through the tears she had accidentally caused. "Okay. I know you won't hit me. But...can you do me a favor and stop hitting Barry? Barry's my son. I know you two fought last time. I already scolded him."

Nina couldn't remember who Barry was.

She still couldn't match names to faces very well.

Seeing her confused expression, Nathan smiled and rubbed his cheek against her chubby one.
