Miracle Cutie Chapter 477: Nina Can Fly

4 min 1 views

Nina had no idea Benjamin was avoiding her hug. She just kept grinning.

After the meal, before Nina could run off to play again, Amelia called Nelson over to keep her company.

Once Nina was settled, Amelia contacted their family back home to let them know when she and Nina would be returning.

The Wilson family was thrilled to hear they were coming back.

It was just that Nathan, after his initial excitement, let out a sigh.

"When Nina gets back, Barry won't be able to play with her," he explained. "Barry's been sick lately. He's had a recurring fever. Lily and I took him for a full check-up, but we're still waiting for the results. Once he's better, I'll let him play with Nina."

Hearing Barry was sick, Amelia was worried too. "Nathan, don't worry. Wait for the results first. Let me know when they come in," she said gently. "Once Nina's back, there will be plenty of time. The kids can play together anytime; it doesn't have to be right away."

While the adults were on the phone, Nina, playing with Nelson, started getting into mischief again.

Nina got her little umbrella.

Then, she climbed onto a chair and from there, scrambled onto a somewhat high table.

Once standing, she raised the umbrella and called out happily to Nelson, "Nelson, look! Nina fly!"

The moment Nina mentioned flying, Nelson knew something was wrong. He tried to stop her, but she didn't give him a chance to speak.

Holding the little umbrella, without a second's hesitation, Nina jumped.

A second later, a loud cry erupted. Nina lay on the floor, crying like the world was ending.

Nelson hadn't been able to catch her. She had jumped too fast.

"Mrs. Wilson! Mrs. Wilson! Nina fell!" Nelson called out urgently, looking at Nina on the floor.

Amelia was nearby, re-gluing a decoration onto one of Nina's little shoes.

Nina was always picking the decorations off her shoes. She'd pick them off, then demand the adults stick them back on. If they couldn't, she'd throw a fit.

Amelia was in the middle of this task when she heard Nina's cry. She immediately put the shoe down and hurried over.

"What happened? What's wrong?" Amelia asked anxiously.

Nelson explained, "Nina took an umbrella and said she could fly. She jumped off the table."

Amelia felt her vision swim. She checked Nina carefully. There didn't seem to be any cuts, but her arm clearly wouldn't lift.

Every time Amelia touched it, Nina's crying intensified. Her arm was hurt.

Amelia didn't dare delay. She picked Nina up to take her to the hospital.

Nelson, worried about Nina, wanted to go too. But the hospital was no place for a child, so Amelia didn't let him.

"Nelson, be a good boy. Wait here for us, or go home with your parents," Amelia instructed. "I'm taking Nina to the hospital to get checked."

Amelia took Nina to the same hospital where Lester was. Benjamin had gone there right after breakfast. Amelia called him on the way.

By the time they reached the hospital entrance, Benjamin was already waiting.

Nina's arm really hurt. She had cried for a long time. In the car, she'd cried herself out and quieted down for a bit. But the moment she saw Benjamin, she started up again.

"Daddy!" she sobbed, her little face wet with tears. "Hold."

Benjamin picked her up and took her to the doctor he had already arranged to see.

The doctor ordered an X-ray. Nina was terrified of the machine and refused to cooperate.

Just as she was making a fuss, Lester showed up with a lollipop for her.

With the lollipop in her hand, Nina finally agreed to the X-ray.

The results came back. It was a very minor fracture. The doctor shared the diagnosis, trying to reassure Benjamin, whose brow was deeply furrowed.

"A child's ability to heal is amazing. A small fracture like this will mend in about a week—maybe even faster. There's really no need to worry too much," the doctor said.

He then proceeded to immobilize Nina's chubby little arm. The process was still painful.

Nina's left arm was hurt. She held the lollipop in her right hand, crying and eating the lollipop at the same time.

Once the doctor finished, Nina looked at her bandaged arm with teary eyes, utterly heartbroken.

"Mommy, me hurt," she whimpered.

Amelia held her, using a wet wipe to clean her sticky little hands and mouth. When she was done, Amelia pushed down her own heartache to give her a lesson.

"Did you climb up high and jump off again? I've told you so many times not to jump from high places! You already hurt yourself jumping off the bed at home, remember? Do you understand what you did wrong?"

Amelia's scolding made Nina feel wronged. She sniffled, her little voice still hitching with leftover sobs.
