Time passed quietly in the hospital room.

Nina cried and fussed but couldn't get Amelia's phone back.

Nelson came over and managed to cheer her up. Kids always play well together, and Nelson kept Nina company with her toys.

Nina chattered away nonstop, talking Nelson's ear off. With the two little ones busy together, Amelia finally got a bit of peace.

After staying in the room for a good while, Amelia decided to take both children out.

Lester's injuries required proper rest, and having kids around wasn't helping. Amelia, being considerate, took them away.

Seeing Amelia leave, Daniel followed suit.

The room was now empty except for Lester. He picked up his phone and called William.

William was surprised to get the call.

Once connected, Lester got straight to the point. "Are you missing a son?" he asked.

The question made William frown deeply. His eldest son, lost at sea, was a pain he couldn't bear to touch. For years, those close to him had tactfully avoided reopening that wound.

Before William's displeasure could solidify, Lester spoke again. "When are you free?" he continued, his voice steady. "Come to the hospital. I think you and I need to take a paternity test."

Lester's memories weren't fully recovered yet. He remembered Benjamin very clearly from his childhood, but other people and events were still hazy.

After Lester mentioned the paternity test, William fell silent for a long moment on the other end of the line.

William held the phone, needing a long moment to process. A thousand questions swirled in his mind, but when he finally spoke, it was just one word. "Alright."

He handed off all his urgent tasks and rushed back to the hospital.

Catherine, seeing him leave in such a hurry, asked if something had happened to Nina.

When William shook his head, she lost interest and didn't press further.

Soon, William was back at the hospital. As soon as he entered the hallway, he spotted Nina.

Nina was chatting with another patient in the corridor. The patient was blind, using a white cane to navigate.

Nina was fascinated by the cane.

The blind man had a gentle temperament and even let her play with it. Nina took the cane and was having a great time.

Hearing her infectious giggles, the blind man's face also broke into a smile.

Even though they were strangers, they managed to play together.

William, watching from a distance, couldn't help but be amazed by Nina's social skills.

Nina, busy poking the floor with the cane, looked up and saw William.

The moment she saw him, she immediately ran over.

"Grandpa!" she called out.

"Hey, slow down!" William said, his face instinctively breaking into a smile as she rushed toward him.

Nina was always incredibly enthusiastic whenever she saw William.

William bent down and scooped her up.

"Nina, how's your head feeling today? Any discomfort?" he asked gently, concerned. "Did your mom take your temperature?"

He even leaned in and pressed his forehead against hers to check for fever himself.

Nina giggled and nuzzled against his touch. She didn't answer his questions. Instead, she proudly held up the cane for him to see.

"Grandpa, mine!" she declared.

William was taken aback for a second. "Sweetie, this belongs to someone else," he explained patiently. "We need to give it back, okay? Grandpa will buy you a new little cane to play with."

William doted on Nina endlessly, but he didn't let her keep someone else's property.

He took the cane from her and returned it to its owner.

The owner just smiled warmly, praising how adorable Nina was.

Being blind, he faced a lot of malice in daily life—some pitied him, others looked down on him.

Nina was different. She didn't pity him or treat him differently. She just played with him like anyone else. He loved that.

Listening to a stranger praise his granddaughter, William felt an immense swell of pride.

After the interaction in the hallway, William went to see Lester in the hospital room.

Their last meeting had been at the gates of the Powell Estate. At that time, Nina hadn't been found yet, and everyone's mood was terrible.

Although William and Lester had seen each other then, neither had looked closely at the other. They hadn't been in the right state of mind.

Now William stood holding Nina, gazing at Lester lying in the hospital bed. He studied his face for a long, long time.

"Lester," William finally said, his voice low. "What did you mean on the phone?"

"My eldest son, Samuel, fell into the sea on his sixth birthday," he continued, the words heavy. "Are you saying... you're him?"

William wanted to ask more, to understand, but Lester wasn't one for lengthy explanations.

"Let's do the test first," Lester said calmly. "We can talk after we get the results."
