He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 162: The Tables Turn
[Those words hit different! Dude's totally butthurt because she can't have him!]
[So who's actually hitting on Mr. Harrison and harassing him? Have some self-respect, c'mon!]
[Doing all that in the office during the day—she was this close to stripping down! She's cold to everyone else. Her thirst to climb the ladder is so obvious.]
All the shade suddenly flipped to Maura.
Juan Leon typed furiously on Sherry's phone. "See that? Mr. Harrison is so badass! Nothing like you—you only know how to bully your own wife!
"And another thing—our Mr. Harrison is single! You called Sherry a side chick? A side chick to who?! Did you even get your facts straight before flipping out?"
Gilbert had never been talked to like this, not even at his worst. He knew he was kinda in the wrong, but Sherry could have at least told them to lay off trashing him like that.
He was a CEO, after all.
"Enough! If it's not true, just say so! Going on and on like that—so rude! Sherry, look at the friends you have. Low-class, and their personalities are even worse."
Before Sherry could say a word, Tony put his hands on his hips. "With the stuff you just said, your personality isn't exactly top-tier either! Low-class? What's wrong with being low-class? How high and mighty do you think you are?"
He hit a nerve. Gilbert hung up the phone in a huff.
The hot search and all the hate toward Sherry died down completely.
So handling this kind of thing was that easy—just one sentence.
But Gilbert had let her go through all that online harassment on purpose.
Lucas got back from the harbor and handed her a lunch box. "Don't sweat the online stuff. I will take care of everything. Eat first."
It looked like regular takeout, but the taste and how fancy it was—this was not the kind of food that belonged in a basic lunch box.
"Thank you for handling this. I never meant to drag you into it too."
The Harrison family kept a low profile. Ending up on the hot search over something like this was her fault.
"This is on me. I did not manage my company's people well. I will kick Maura and her project out of the company."
"That will lose you money. Besides, you really want this project."
"Wanting it does not mean I have to have it. I have tons of projects—this is the smallest one. I would not have even taken it if Maura had not come in saying her team could do it without bothering the Harrison family."
Sherry's eyes widened in shock. "Wait—you mean this project has nothing to do with the Harrison family? It was Maura's project?"
So Maura was the one who stole her project from the start!
"Not just that. I also found out Maura is in contact with someone named Wendy. Wendy paid to get those rumors on the hot search."
So Wendy and Maura totally teamed up to set me up.
Is that why my investment tanked? No way.
She was sure Wendy did not know about her investment. Wendy did not understand this kind of stuff anyway. If she had, she would have messed things up on the day of the investment.
If that was not it, why would two people who seemed to have nothing to do with each other team up to take her down?
"I do not really get the drama between you guys, but I dug up a lot of stuff on this Wendy."
Sherry took the files and was completely stunned.
*****
Maura was just as shocked.
She showed up to work on time, only to be stopped at the door. "What do you think you are doing? How dare you stop me! I am a partner of this company!"
Max had purposely waited here to block her. "Partner? Your project has been canceled. Mr. Harrison would rather lose money than work with a desperate woman like you. You are out!"
"No way!" Maura shook her head. "I do not believe it! I want to see Mr. Harrison! You are just jealous I am above you, so you are messing with me on purpose!"
"I am being nice about it. Mr. Harrison said you're not allowed in any property owned by the Harrisons. You are blacklisted—for good."
Maura's face turned as white as a sheet.
If word got out, no one would dare work with her ever again.
That meant this project was totally ruined—all on her.
"It is all Sherry's fault! If it were not for her, my project would not be ruined!"
Dorothy and Ruby panicked. "Did Sherry find out we stole her project? Is she getting revenge?"
"No way! Sherry does not even know the people behind us—how could she? She is just a housewife. She got lucky this time." Maura was sure the people backing her up would keep her safe.
"But we have to get revenge!"
She called Wendy. "Got any ideas to make Sherry disappear for good?"
Wendy scoffed. "I thought you said a housewife would be easy to take down? Now you are already losing?"
The first time they talked, Wendy had warned Maura—she needed to take Sherry down in one hit and make sure she could never get back up.
