He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 333: Breaking Point
Just because he hadn't eaten and assumed Julia hadn't either, Sherry wasn't allowed to eat anything at all.
She had to ask their permission just to have a meal. Anyone with eyes could see that her lips were cracked, and she was completely dehydrated.
But Gilbert acted like he couldn't see a thing.
Because he was miserable, he destroyed her food without a second thought.
Sherry trembled all over—from hunger, and from pure, blinding rage.
"Are you fucking crazy?!" she screamed. "What do I care if Julia lives or dies? If you love her so much, go die with her and leave me alone!"
She slapped him again and again, hard.
In moments like this, human strength had no limits.
Rage roared in her brain, adrenaline flooding her with violent fury.
The feeling was horribly familiar. Back when she'd been beaten half to death, Sherry had fought like a wild animal, pushing past every physical limit.
She'd wanted her attacker dead. That was how she'd survived against Liam's men.
And all the Campbell family had said was, "You're not hurt. You fought like a maniac. No wonder they hit you."
Only she remembered how completely broken she'd been that day.
Every bitter thing she'd suffered with the Campbell family, she'd suffered all over again with Gilbert.
She owed these people nothing. Why did they all treat her like this?
In that moment, she genuinely wanted Gilbert dead.
Past feelings? They meant nothing.
He deserved to die.
Her hands kept swinging. By the time she calmed down, she realized only the first slap had landed. The rest hadn't even hit his face.
Bodyguards had appeared behind her and held her tight. They were huge and terrifying. People nearby backed away, too scared to even take out their phones.
They were afraid they'd film something and get killed for it.
Even the bodyguards were shocked by how strong she was—they'd almost failed to hold her.
The look in Sherry's eyes, like she wanted to murder him, stabbed into Gilbert.
He thought he'd given her enough time and freedom—mostly to keep her and Julia from clashing.
He didn't want either side's feelings wrecked.
He'd done everything he could. How could she still not understand? How could she look at him like she wanted him dead?
In that moment, it was like she didn't even see him as a person—only something to destroy.
That wasn't the gaze of someone who loved you.
He'd only knocked her food out of her hands. It was just junk food anyway, the kind people like them never touched.
Was he really less than that trash to her? Was she attacking him over this?
Once that hit him, his anger flared hotter than hers. "Sherry, stop this nonsense! You should be terrified about what happens if Julia gets hurt.
"I will never forgive you! Whatever happened to her, I'll make you pay double."
Sherry's eyes slowly cleared. "You'd better pray something did happen to her. Because if she's fine, I'll make you pay double."
Gilbert's first reaction was disbelief. "You think Julia hid on purpose? Throwing a tantrum and ignoring my calls? You think she's like you?
"Selfish and reckless, with no idea when to stop! I'll win this bet because I know Julia better than anyone."
He would prove he was right.
Then Scott rushed over. "We found Ms. Mack's location!"
Gilbert snatched the phone. When he saw it was an abandoned area, his face turned green.
"Sherry, open your damn eyes and look! This is an abandoned factory. It's isolated, full of dangerous people.
"You still say she's fine? You better pray she's unharmed on the way there!"
The car sped off like a bullet. Sherry was dragged in without a seatbelt and nearly thrown forward.
The two large bodyguards behind sat steady, watching her slam between the seats and then yank her back.
Their attitude was just following their boss'.
Sherry shifted, but the men were clearly professionals. She couldn't break free.
She closed her eyes.
"If she's hurt—lost an arm or a leg—I'll jump off that abandoned building and die."
