He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 352: Rather Give It to a Dog
"Sherry, because of you, our deal fell through!" Teresa lunged at Sherry like a mad dog the moment she saw she hadn't left yet.
"Weren't you the one who got kicked out? What's that got to do with me?"
Turns out Sherry had stood there and watched them get tossed out in disgrace. They didn't even scrape back the tiniest bit of capital.
Things were completely different now.
Back in the day, Sherry let Teresa walk all over her, and Teresa always walked away with something. But it had been a long time since she'd gotten anything out of her, and that imbalance was starting to eat at her.
"Sherry, you're walking away so easily because you've got other deals lined up, don't you? I'm telling you—hand that one over to me."
Edward stood there and chimed in, "She's got a point. You're not the one actually being a star anyway. Might as well give it to family. We're blood. Everything we do, we should look out for our own family."
"Exactly. And while you're at it, have the Harrison Group give me a shout-out. If I make it big, I'll let you step foot back in the Campbell Villa sometime."
It was as if whether Sherry could ever return to the Campbell Villa depended entirely on her charity.
"You remember what you said when I went to the Campbell company and tried to grab a box lunch?
"'Wasting food on me? Might as well give it to someone who actually deserves it.'
"You wouldn't even let me eat, and now you expect me to hand over a major deal?"
"That's different. You had it coming—you caused so much trouble for the Campbells, and you're useless anyway. Even eating a meal is a waste. But me? I'm actually talented. I deserve the best.
"And not just this time. From now on, any good opportunity you get? Mine."
When Sherry rolled up her window, there was something in that gesture—like she was looking down on Teresa from some unreachable height—that pissed her off even more.
"Keep dreaming, you idiot. I'd rather give it to a dog."
Right on cue, two barks came from the passenger seat. There really was a dog.
Sherry and Tony hadn't expected to close the deal anyway. The Y Group kept a low profile—they'd never worked with Harrison Group before. Hard to say if that was intentional back then, but now? Probably.
So she'd locked in the contract with the dog's owner. Job done.
By the time Teresa processed what happened, the window was already up.
Not a single curse of hers slipped through.
Teresa was so furious that she almost dropped to the pavement. "Edward! Did you see that? Sherry would rather give it to a dog than to me!"
Edward stared in the direction Sherry's car disappeared, disappointment all over his face. "I used to think she'd really been through some stuff. Turns out she brought it all on herself. And here I was thinking about making it up to her. But no—she sides with outsiders. She can't tell who's family.
"Can't stay loyal to her own husband either. Running around with other men. Pathetic."
Just a few insults and that's it?
Absolutely not. Teresa wasn't letting this go. She hadn't gotten what she came for, and she was going to take it back.
She'd already been generous enough—letting Sherry have her cushy life with the Harrisons. Sherry should be grateful and hand things over on a silver platter. And now she dared to say no?
If she wouldn't give it up willingly?
Then she wouldn't last another day in that family.
She was nothing but trash anyway—trash that somehow ended up riding in a nice car, trash that thought she could look down on her.
...
Back home, Sherry immediately called Yelena.
"Drop everything you're working on. Come work for my company."
Yelena yawned into the phone. "Look, I'd love to. Harrison Group covers what, a hundred something industries, but not one fit for me.
"Don't make things harder for the Harrisons on my account."
"Then quit your job. I'll support you."
"And what about our grand plans? You've finally got a solid position at Harrison headquarters. But if you transferred to a branch, you'd still have people looking at you sideways. And yeah, that's on Gilbert—without him, your situation wouldn't be this bad."
Everywhere she went, someone had to call her useless.
The Campbells had a hand in that too.
"But your situation's even tougher. You know Y Group? It's under Hector's umbrella. I still don't know if Lucas knows."
If Sherry had known earlier, she would've dug into it from the start, and things wouldn't have blown up like this.
Yelena paused, thinking. "Guys like them? They branch out everywhere. Having connections here isn't exactly shocking."
True.
Sherry had assumed that even if he did have a company here, it wouldn't be this big. Which meant Julia had another backer now.
And God knows how many more were waiting in the wings.
Sherry felt that old familiar itch—that fear of not having enough firepower.
"Look at it this way," Yelena said, practical as always. "If he really wants to come after me? You hiding me won't make a difference. Anyway, my company just gave me two tickets—lake day trip.
"Worry about the rest later."
One thing was clear—this was heading toward a no-holds-barred showdown. Which meant they'd have to strike first.
