He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 358: Dolphins in the Lake
Their first thought was that whoever shouted had lost their mind.
This was just a lake—though a huge one, stretching out of sight, almost like an endless ocean, it was still a lake. Where would dolphins come from?
The voice sounded like one of the staff, mixed in with other tourists.
The place wasn't privately booked; there just weren't many people around, probably because it wasn't peak season.
But the whole thing was too bizarre to ignore. The two decided to go out and see. They'd come here to relax, and they weren't going to let that group ruin their day.
It wasn't often they got to hang out together like this.
Usually, they just grabbed dinner at some restaurant and went their separate ways, never having a real chance to talk deeply.
When they stepped onto the deck, they saw people teasing the woman who'd yelled.
"If your eyes are that bad, get some glasses. You thought a piece of clothing was a dolphin?"
The woman scratched her head, embarrassed.
"I forgot we're on a lake, not the ocean."
The group chuckled and prepared to leave.
To be honest, there wasn't much to see at this time of year.
The weather was cold, and the water was frigid. The two looked down and saw a piece of clothing floating on the surface.
"I wish we'd gone somewhere else. This is obviously a man-made lake, and it's full of junk. Makes the whole water look dirty."
The worst part was running into that annoying group again.
Yelena looked at Sherry with concern. No matter how tough a woman acted, could she really be okay? Could she truly not care?
Gilbert's attitude toward Julia was closer than Hector ever was to Anne—they were practically joined at the hip.
Hector and Anne were only physical. Gilbert and Julia were emotional.
And that scared Yelena more.
On top of that, Gilbert kept putting Sherry down. Could she really endure it?
Could she really let it all go?
"You need some fresh air to clear that messy head of yours," a voice sneered.
Julia walked over with everyone except Gilbert.
This time, she wasn't even bothering to hide her true colors.
But George, Cathy, and the others didn't look surprised. They were either used to it or expected it.
Heather simply crossed her arms and watched the show.
"I think you're the one who needs the wind to wake you up," Sherry shot back. "Quit acting like you're the most beautiful woman alive and every man in the world is crazy about you."
Julia lowered her eyes and smiled, "If you can say that, you must not have seen that photo."
Sherry raised an eyebrow. Julia knew about the picture Lucas had?
"Oh, so you have seen it," Julia scoffed. "I'm not like you. Out of a hundred men, maybe one will glance your way.
"For me, ninety-nine out of a hundred men want to treat me well. The last one? I just act cold to see if he's worth my time."
Julia lifted her chin proudly.
"You know what I mean. I didn't choose Lucas before because I have options. Unlike you, clinging to him for dear life.
"But once I decide Lucas is the one I want? You think you'll still be standing here talking to me?"
"You just called fishing for every guy you meet 'having options.' Real classy. You're just a player, keeping a whole stable of men on the hook."
George stepped forward angrily. "That just proves how amazing Julia is! Men love her—that's just how it is. She's irresistible."
He didn't look anything like the cocky rich kid he used to be.
Sherry had thought he'd fight Gilbert tooth and nail over Julia.
Now...
"Amazing, all right. She's got a whole pond of fish... and one really loyal dog."
"You!" George's face darkened with rage.
Julia signaled for him to calm down.
"Sherry, once upon a time, I didn't want you and Gilbert to divorce. The main reason was—"
"Because you were afraid you'd lose Lucas as one of your little toys," Sherry finished.
Julia looked at her in surprise.
"Who would've thought someone as dumb and love-obsessed as you could figure that out! I used to plan that. But not anymore. You've gotten way too annoying."
"Finally giving me some respect?" Sherry said. "Someone's getting upset a little early."
