He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 405: An Eye for an Eye

4 min 1 views

"It's definitely you."

Lucas stepped closer, his thumb brushing gently over Sherry's cheek.

He'd rushed over as fast as he could, but Sherry had still gotten hurt. He'd held back his rage only because Sherry had fought hard on her own, held nothing back, and now knew her own limits and weaknesses.

"What do I do if I like a woman who loves to throw down?"

Sherry's face flushed bright red. She nudged him lightly and muttered under her breath, "If this gets out, people will call us a pair of sinners."

There was always someone online hearing about it for the first time.

"How would you like us to handle her, Mr. Harrison?"

Lucas' security team was tall, imposing, and intimidating—way overkill for a peaceful country.

"Use the second, physical punishment. As for the first one..." Lucas let out a cold laugh. "Might as well be rewarding her."

It was obvious just by looking at her.

She'd taken pleasure in watching thugs torment women, her face twisting with disgust and envy at the mere mention of them.

"No wonder she talks like that," Sherry said with a mocking smile. "She's jealous these women get to live as wealthy socialites while she..." She paused, her voice sharp. "Typical case of if I can't have it, I'll destroy it. She's completely twisted."

"Bullshit! I don't envy bitches like you at all! Aah!" Eileen screamed as she was pinned down tightly.

The grip was so rough it nearly made her spit blood. "I was only following Mr. Bode's orders! What gives you the right to treat me like this?!"

Pain only feels real when it's your own skin in the game. She wasn't even truly scared yet.

"Don't worry. He might not be able to keep you company, but one of the people he cares about most will."

If Gilbert ended up in a place like this, the facility would be raided the next day and the fun would be over. There was someone far more fitting.

"Let go of me! Do you know who I am?! I'm the daughter of the Bode family! Lay a finger on me and my brother will destroy every last one of you!"

Cathy was dragged into the room.

"Sherry, how are you still standing here? You should be—"

Lucas cut in coldly, "My team just finished looking into it. This woman's been pulling strings behind the scenes. That electric chair over there? She had them crank the voltage way up."

His face darkened at the thought.

If he hadn't arrived in time, they would've shocked Sherry senseless. She might've lost the use of her legs. If her health had been any weaker, the outcome would've been unthinkable.

This woman deserved to die.

But he knew Sherry might go easy on her—girls tended to be softer-hearted, especially Sherry, who'd endured so much unfairness for others.

One look at the chair, straight out of a horror movie, and the electricians standing behind Cathy, and anyone with half a brain could piece it together.

"I think your idea is brilliant," Sherry said, her smile warm but chilling. "Gilbert loves obedient women, doesn't he? Ones who bow down and obey his every word, the perfect picture of a compliant wife." She leaned in slightly. "You don't get to act so high and mighty. He calls me a troublemaker, but what about his own sister?"

She spoke slowly, each word cutting, "You'll stay here in my place for a while."

Cathy flinched. "Are you insane? Do you have any idea what this place is? It's not for humans! You're crazy to lock me up here to suffer?!"

"Didn't your brother know exactly what this place was when he sent me here?" Sherry shot back.

Cathy scoffed, "How can you even compare yourself to me? I'm delicate and privileged—I don't belong in a dump like this! Sherry, let me go right now, or I'll tell my brother. You'll be dead meat. He'll send you to some slum overseas where trash like you belongs! Aah—"

Cathy kept ranting and raving. Sherry slapped her hard across the face.

"This is exactly where trash like your Bode family belongs. I was the fool who stood by your family and helped you rise back up. Without me, you lot couldn't even afford a hole like this! Ungrateful bastards!"

Gilbert had shamelessly claimed Julia was the one who truly supported him.

He never said a word about the truth.

When debt collectors showed up at their door, he'd been exhausted and terrified, muttering that he might as well be dead.

But he'd never had the courage to actually end it.

Sherry had taken his place, facing down those ruthless men, taking countless slaps for him.

It wasn't even that much money, or he'd never have turned it around.

They targeted him because they were rivals. He could've paid it off just by swallowing his pride and running deliveries.

He nearly lost his mind over spare change.

And then he claimed it was all because of Julia.

Not once did he admit who had really been carrying him through every hard day.

And Sherry had cleaned up Cathy's messes too.
