He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 389: The Sencia City Ticket
Yelena's face darkened for a long moment.
"We don't really have to draw the line. In Julia's mind, she wants every good man. She'll pick the best one and stick with him—whether that's Lucas or the mystery guy."
There was no point talking about the stranger anyway.
Julia would just want them both.
"Besides, he's from Keiperian. I've never heard of him coming to our state. The last time anyone saw him was two years ago.
"I'd say he's at least twenty-five, older than us. With his position, he's probably already married.
"And I'm pretty sure they aren't connected. You don't have to worry about him being Julia's lackey.
"If he really was backing her, you and I would've been dead ten times over by now."
"He's that terrifying?"
Yelena could barely see clearly, but she could picture the lifeless body and the man standing behind it—calm and composed, as if he did that sort of thing all the time.
"Way worse than Lucas. Like, a hundred times worse. Lucas isn't exactly harmless, either."
If he was from Keiperian, there was no use worrying.
"You should get some rest. I heard you caught a cold too. We can talk more once we're both better."
Yelena was exhausted.
"Call me if you need anything. I'm right next door."
As Sherry lay down to sleep, her phone kept ringing.
She'd recently gotten a new phone.
Her old one had been years out of date—she'd never been able to afford a replacement before.
Now she had a new device, but most numbers weren't saved. She didn't recognize the caller.
As soon as she answered, she regretted it.
That familiar, annoying voice cut through.
"Sherry! I'm letting the last thing go, but you will get me a ticket to the Sencia City event."
Sencia City.
It either produced no stars or only top-tier ones.
Once, Dale had been able to stand on that stage.
But even back then, his skills were outmatched.
Years had passed, and his career faded.
Plus everything that went down with the Campbell family, and then Teresa's true identity coming out...
If she'd been his real sister, it might have been different.
But she wasn't. They'd still been close, photographed together many times.
Only when Teresa became an influencer did their public interactions die down.
Now his career was basically over. He couldn't even get Teresa decent resources anymore.
Their older brother Edward, though, had become a director at the entertainment company.
But the Campbells had made their money in seafood—they had zero real connections in showbiz.
Other companies were afraid to work with them, so their resources were still slim.
Things had gotten better recently because they still had plenty of money to run the business.
But it was nowhere near enough to feed Teresa's ambition.
She wanted to reach the top overnight.
She thought she'd worked so hard, suffered so much.
Yet in less than a year, she already expected to be at the peak of the industry.
She would never have come to Sherry if she'd had any other choice.
"If you don't give me that ticket, I'll make your life a living hell."
"You're desperate," Sherry said calmly.
Teresa was frantic.
By the time she'd heard about the event, all the connected tickets were almost gone.
What stung most wasn't that she couldn't go—
It was that Sherry was going, right there on the VIP list with Lucas.
High above everyone, like she was mocking Teresa.
Mocking her for not even being worthy of an invitation.
She was clearly better than Sherry. So why was Sherry, who left the Campbell family, living a better life?
She refused to accept it.
The event was almost here.
She'd been running around like a headless chicken, begging for favors—and gotten nothing back.
She'd wasted so many benefits on those losers.
The company had launched so many new stars, but when push came to shove, everyone clung to their tickets like life or death.
Some even threatened her, "If you really want to push this, I don't mind making a scene. The company's yours, sure. But if we drag this out, it'll ruin the whole Campbell name.
"Celebrity scandals hit hard. You still want to go public? You want to sink before you even launch?"
