He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 402: Trapped Inside the Psychiatric Hospital
She had successfully kicked Julia into the psychiatric hospital.
By the time the guards scrambled to help her up, it was already too late.
Julia, who had been poised and flawless moments earlier, was now covered in mud. The rain from the previous day had left the ground wet and muddy, and she was a complete mess.
Furious, Julia opened her mouth to scream insults, only to get a mouthful of mud. She looked utterly miserable.
She deserved every bit of it.
"What are you all standing around for?! Grab this woman and take her inside now!"
Julia was breathing heavily with rage. The bodyguards moved to obey.
Sherry spoke calmly, "I suggest you think twice before laying a hand on me. Lucas is good friends with your boss, and I'm Lucas' personal assistant. Hurting me is the same as attacking the Harrison family."
"Don't listen to this bitch's lies!" Julia snapped. "She's just an assistant. I'm Lucas' fiancée! Dealing with some nobody assistant is easy as hell!
"Don't worry—I'll take full responsibility for whatever happens."
Sherry turned to the guards. "Do you really think a powerful man like Lucas would keep a fiancée a secret from everyone?"
These bodyguards weren't stupid. They immediately stopped where they were.
They knew their boss would never be kept in the dark about something that important.
"What is this? You're disobeying me now? Mr. Holden said—"
"Mr. Holden only ordered us to protect you, not to carry out other orders."
It was the second time Julia had failed to command the men around her.
But then her eyes lit up, and her expression shifted to one of heartbreaking sorrow.
She stumbled into Gilbert's arms like a madwoman. "Gilbert, look what she did! Sherry's gone crazy! She hurt me so badly, I can barely stand the pain.
"She kicked me in the stomach! You know how important that is for a woman. What if I can't have children someday..."
Julia sobbed loudly. Gilbert had arrived with a heavy heart, remembering the promise he'd once made to Sherry—that he would never send her back to this place.
But when he saw Julia's pitiful state, his faint sense of guilt vanished immediately.
"Sherry, isn't what you've done going too far? Kicking a woman in the stomach—if she can't have children, if she can never be a mother, you'd never be able to make up for it, even with your life!"
He held Julia tenderly, checking her anxiously, as if afraid she was seriously injured.
"She deserved it!" Sherry shot back. "Who does she think she is, trying to lock me up in a psychiatric hospital? Anyone would have fought back.
"And you, Mr. Bode, some big-shot boss, actually go back on your word. You promised you'd never send me here again, yet you broke your promise for another woman. Who would dare do business with someone who breaks deals so easily? You have no credibility at all."
Gilbert panicked at the mention of his credibility. "Sherry, stop talking nonsense! There's a reason for everything.
"You hurt Julia! I can't let you get away with this. I promised Julia I'd always protect her, and breaking that promise would make me a liar!
"What are you all waiting for? Take Sherry inside now!"
He had brought many skilled men with him, and Sherry was outnumbered.
Still, she took down several of them before she was finally restrained. The others watched in shock.
Sherry had given it her all. Though her face was bruised and swollen, she now knew exactly how strong she really was.
To everyone watching, though, she looked terrible.
Especially to Julia.
Julia had only taken one kick, while Sherry had been beaten by a group. She deserved it.
But with so many people present—and Gilbert right there—Julia couldn't drop her kind act.
"Ms. Campbell, please don't blame Gilbert. People with mental health issues belong in a hospital. It's only reasonable. You should have listened to him."
"Reasonable? Locking me up without any examination? You might as well just say you hate me and want me gone."
Gilbert frowned. "You don't have to put it so harshly. I'm doing this for your own good. Just look at yourself—you're acting no different than someone unstable.
"Behave while you're here, get better, and go back to how you used to be. Then we can still live together like before."
The hospital director, Eileen Gable, stood by, rubbing her hands together. "Don't worry, Mr. Bode. Anyone who leaves here will be obedient and ready to live a quiet life with you."
For the first time, Sherry felt genuine fear. Her palms were sweating.
This place didn't seem legitimate at all. It was the kind of facility that used cruel, hidden methods.
Even if she could fight, she would never escape a place like this. It felt dark and cold, like a prison.
