"This is nothing," Sherry said calmly.

Ivy almost lost her composure, so angry she felt like her hair was standing on end. But she couldn't break down in front of Sherry—that would only mean she was weaker.

Still, it made one thing clear to her. "Hmph. So naive. You really have no idea what you're walking into. In that case, I won't waste my breath.

"I suggest you stop daydreaming. Being with the boss means earning our approval first. And you're definitely not approved."

Her face slid back into lazy, smug ease.

"Not that it even matters. You'll give up on your own soon enough."

She glanced toward a shadowy figure behind them.

Sherry saw the look and knew someone was standing behind her, but she didn't bother turning around, only raised an eyebrow. "Is that right? If your opinions carry that much weight, and you've known him for so long, you had every chance to get close to him.

"Did you not even try? Or did you just fail, no matter how hard you fought for him?"

Ivy's face turned red on the spot.

Sherry had to admit, putting someone in their place felt pretty good—especially when they couldn't do a thing to stop her.

Ivy opened her mouth to snap back, but Leo could barely stand anymore. "Maybe take care of your friend first."

Ivy's jaw tightened in frustration, but she had no choice. Leo was too far gone, and she was too small to hold him up much longer.

She had no choice but to drag him upstairs.

By now, Sherry was mostly sober. Lucas had mentioned there was a coffee spot on the rooftop.

Only a few people were staying here; most had left for the night. The villa was enormous—almost half the size of a castle, yet decorated in a sleek, modern style.

There was a coffee machine up there, so Sherry decided to make herself a cup.

She had just poured her coffee and was about to sit and enjoy the breeze when a voice suddenly spoke up.

"Please... give him back to me."

The voice trembled with tears, soft and pitiful.

Selena looked at Sherry with teary eyes, her expression full of heartbreak. "The first time I met him, I almost ruined my life."

Sherry blinked.

Really? This drama already? I haven't even asked anything.

"He saved me without hesitation. Everything I have now is because of him. You don't understand—he's my whole world. Without him, I wouldn't be here. So please... give him back to me."

Sherry rested her chin in her hand. "Lucas saved me too. My ex-husband and the other woman were going to kill me. If it weren't for Lucas..."

For the first time, she really thought about it.

Without him, going up against Gilbert and Julia would have been impossible. She would have been framed by Julia, living a life worse than death.

She might have died fighting them, or been sold to a remote area, forced to have children and driven insane.

"I would be dead."

Selena froze. Sherry's pain clearly ran much deeper than hers.

She herself wasn't going to kill herself—but losing Lucas would break her heart beyond repair.

She stepped toward the edge of the terrace. "If you won't give him back to me, I'll jump off right here."

When she saw Sherry's shocked expression, Selena thought she'd won.

If you want something, you have to fight for it. She couldn't stand watching Lucas care for someone else, love someone else that wasn't her.

It hurt worse than dying. She was taking him back tonight, no matter how dirty her tricks had to be.

Girls care how their man sees them. On that alone, if she'd really jumped from here today—the very first night together—even if she'd only gotten so much as a scratch, it would be a total demerit.

To save her own image, Sherry would panic.

Selena stood up straight confidently, turned back toward Sherry... and nearly lost her mind.

Sherry simply took a calm sip of coffee and said, "Then jump."

"Did you just tell me to jump?!" Selena shrieked, sure she'd misheard.

"Yeah, go ahead," Sherry said. "Too scared?"

"You—you're not afraid if something happens to me, everyone will think you're cruel—"

Men hated that. Everyone knew that.

"I'm already cruel. And I'm married. That's way worse. How many powerful men want a married woman? But Lucas still chose me. What can you do about it?"
