He Chose the So-Called Sister Chapter 325: The Star's Downfall
She still had a shred of sense and swallowed that line.
Sherry looked at her knowingly. "You didn't actually think Lucas himself reads those files, did you?"
Blushing at being found out, Jade recovered quickly. "So what if you saw them? All you could see is my natural, stunning beauty—nothing like plastic, fake, pretty girls like you. And yes, I'm interested in Mr. Harrison. What are you gonna do about it?"
She smirked sarcastically. "You don't actually think you're the boss lady here, do you?" Then she took a closer look. "Wait, you're just Mr. Harrison's assistant, aren't you? No wonder you're so bitter. You're just a stuck-up leech who's jealous of how I look."
The others immediately clustered around her like they'd found their leader. "Ms. Voss, this woman came at us for no reason! We only said what everyone already knows."
"We even apologized to her, but she won't let it go—picking on us hardworking regular staff."
"Do you know what she said earlier? She actually threatened to fire us!"
"We're so scared right now."
They shot Sherry a sharp look. They had backup now, and they were determined to take her down a peg.
Jade's temper flared.
"These are my personal team. My people. You're gonna fire them?" She smiled contemptuously. "Why don't you just fire me instead? Go on, I dare you."
She thought Sherry was way overestimating herself. Sherry could get fired a hundred times before Jade ever would.
"Really? Too bad. You're already terminated. I'm sure you know why."
Sherry's words stunned the room—then everyone burst out laughing.
"Ms. Voss, did you hear that? This crazy woman says you're fired! Some rejected nobody thinks she can call the shots here."
Another lackey snickered. "You have any idea who we're talking about? Ms. Voss is shooting a campaign for S Brand today—top luxury in the world. You probably can't even afford one piece from them. How are you gonna shoot that commercial without her?"
"Yeah, this isn't some handout from the Harrison Group. She earned this. They came to her. You're just mad with envy."
For a second, Jade had frozen, but those words steeled her.
"Right. This brand is my main one. Only A-list stars get deals like this. Do you have any idea how hard it was to land? You think you can fire me? How are you gonna explain this to S Brand?"
Sherry had to be joking.
Did she even know what brand power meant?
"You keep bragging about being the face of S Brand," Sherry said calmly, "so why are you walking around in their biggest competitor's clothes—and posting it all over social media for everyone to see? That's why S Brand dropped you."
"You're lying!" Jade panicked. "I know the people in charge personally. Even if I did that, they wouldn't take my deal away. If I walk, you'll never find anyone else who fits the new line. I'm irreplaceable.
"I'm warning you—push me too far, and I quit. Let's see if you can afford to anger S Brand."
She grew more confident by the second, crossing her arms and waiting to watch Sherry fail.
Sherry smiled coldly. "The executive you're talking about? Just like you, he's probably looking for a new job today."
Max stood by, amazed. He'd been ready to back her up, ever worried Sherry might get hurt after everything she'd been through.
But watching her shut down Jade like this? It was perfect.
Jade's legs went weak. She stared at Sherry, stunned.
Sherry added, "For the record, you weren't supposed to be fired. The higher-ups wanted to give you another chance.
"But I decided you don't deserve one."
"I don't believe you!" Jade fumbled frantically inside her designer bag, hands shaking. "I'm not listening to some bitch like you!"
She finally found her phone. Messages flooded in nonstop.
Among the countless missed calls, she saw a WhatsApp message.
When she opened it, it was a barrage of vile insults—written in two languages, clearly from a furious mixed-race sender.
