Today started like any normal day. I woke up at six in the morning and took a shower, brushed my teeth, combed my hair, and got dressed in jeans, a blue Polo shirt, and sneakers before heading downstairs to help cook breakfast. In our pack, my father and mother, who are also the Alpha and Luna, make my brother and I help with chores in the pack. The chores are usually done by the omegas in a pack, but here my mother has us help because they said that they will not have us be lazy, good for nothing, spoiled brats like some other kids of Alphas and Lunas. I don’t mind the cooking but some of the other stuff like laundry, I’d rather not do, but I don’t complain. Everyone here helps so chores get done faster and then I can go hang out with my friends.
My parents always told us that no one member is better than another. Yes, we all have ranks and Alphas and Lunas are always at the top followed by the Betas, then Gammas, but that does not mean that everyone isn’t just as important. My father constantly drilled this into our heads from the time my brother and I could walk. Oh, I am so rude, please excuse me for not introducing myself. My name is Freya Karlotta Cabrera, daughter of Alpha Facundo and Luna Charlene Cabrera of the Dancing Moonlight pack. My brother is Nicholas James Cabrera, future Alpha and royal pain in my ass. We have a love/hate relationship with each other mostly because I can’t stand his friends and he can’t stand mine.
Okay that isn’t entirely true. On both sides there is really one friend that we each can’t stand. My brothers’ best friend and future Beta, Zachariah Sams. Ever since I turned 16 and started filling out, he has been coming on to me or staring at my chest when he talks to me. The guy is an absolute freak, and my brother acts like it is my fault that his friend is a pervert. Unlike some other she-wolves in this pack, I plan on saving myself for my mate. I’ve never dated any guy here and I refuse to do so until I find out who is my mate, if he is even in this pack.
I constantly pray that Zachariah is not my mate because I seriously think I would reject him. The guy is not mate material in my opinion, plus he has slept with almost every female within a hundred-mile range. If she walks and has boobs, he’s had sex with her and honestly my brother is not better in that category, but at least he is in relationships with the women he has sex with and not just hookups like Zach.
Anyway back to what I was saying, now my best friend is Renee Boudreaux and I love her like a sister, but she has one flaw... the girl is in love with my brother and convinced that he is her mate. She drives my brother absolutely crazy which can be a blessing as well as a curse. She follows him around whenever she isn’t hanging out with me and sends him gifts throughout the week. Not every day, but enough to get on his nerves and that just tickles me because, well because it irritates my brother. We’re siblings, so aren’t we supposed to get on each other's nerves sometimes? Now don’t get me wrong, I can get on his nerves and do things to piss him off but nobody else better or they will answer to me. My brother and I can fight like cats and dogs all day long but let someone mess with one of us and we will put all of that to the side to handle the situation.
After helping the kitchen staff with breakfast and cleaning the breakfast dishes, I make myself a plate and sit down to eat before I have to get ready for training. It has always baffled me why they would schedule training right after eating but I don’t question my father’s methods though it does seem to me that we should wait a little while. My brother walks in and lightly ruffles my hair before making himself a plate and sitting on my right side. I lightly growl at him before going back to shoveling some bacon into my mouth. He just chuckles before he starts eating.
We sit in silence for a while and then we can hear our friends walking in and as usual Zach tries to sit on my left while Renee tries to sit on my brother’s right. We both growl at them in unison, and they slowly stop and look at us. My brother speaks before I can say anything. “Zachariah you should sit on my other side and Renee sit with your friend.” After that he just goes back to eating and I do the same. He mind-links me and tells me that we need to talk tonight, and I just nod my head yes as I sip my orange juice.
More pack members start to come into the dining hall, and I look at my phone to see that I need to get myself changed and ready for training. “Okay guys I will see you out there. I’m going change and head to the training field.” My brother just grunts, while Renee is too busy staring at my brother to pay attention to me, and Zach says ‘Later!’ to me all while staring at my body. I turn and run upstairs to my room on the third floor before I do something I will get in trouble for later but won’t regret. After getting changed into a yellow sports bra and black leggings under my black gym shorts, and sneakers, I ran downstairs and saw that everyone had left the breakfast table. Running out the back door of the pack house, I make my way to the training field and find a spot in the grass to myself to start my stretches.
“Hey, I can help you stretch those leg muscles if you’d like.” I roll my eyes before looking up and see Zach looking down at me.
“No thank you Zach. I’m good stretching alone and you should go stretch too. I mean you wouldn’t want to cramp up while fighting today.” I smirk at him and continue my stretches.
“I did my stretches already and was just coming to see if I could give you a hand.” Yeah, right dude. As if I would ever let you put your hands on any part of my body.
“Zach, I don’t know how to say this nicely so I’ll just say it as plain as I can and hopefully you will get it this time. I don’t have any feelings of any kind for you and will not be going on a date with you. I am saving my firsts for my mate whenever I meet them. I am not saying this to hurt your feelings or because you’re my brother’s friend and honestly you are not the only one that I have told this to so don’t take it personally. I’m not interested in anyone other than my mate.”
