The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 39
I watch as David gets up and moves closer to my mate before saying, “My King, maybe we should move this conversation to a more private room.” My mate turns to him for a brief second before returning his gaze back to the man called Lord Bellevue.
“Why would I move to a private place, when he started this in public? It is quite obvious that he wanted an audience so why not give him what he wants? Lord Bellevue, since you are all for having public displays of punishment, am I to conclude that if I were to punish you that you would completely understand?”
The man’s eyes became as wide as saucers when he heard what my mate asked him. It was clear that it never occurred to him that Alex would punish him. He must have thought that Alex would side with him in the punishing of the young man for his mistake. All eyes were on my mate and Mr. Bellevue waiting to see what would happen next. The room was so quiet that even without super hearing I probably could have heard their hearts beating.
“What would I be punished for your majesty? I did nothing wrong. If I had done something, then of course I would not be opposed to being punished.” Right then I saw my mate’s nostrils flare and the red started to spread more. I quickly stood up and walked over to where Alex and David were standing.
“Your majesty, if I may be so bold, can I ask that just this once we let this go. No harm was done to me and I do not wish to disturb everyone’s dinner even further with this nonsense.” I smile at him and tell my wolf and Lycan to try to calm his wolf and Lycan, but something is wrong. My wolf and Lycan start to whimper in my head and I hold the side of my head as it starts to pound. One of my hands grip the table and I look up in time to see Alex pacing towards Mr. Bellevue and fur sprouting out of his skin. A deep growl erupts from his chest and everyone in the room seems to be shaking with fear. David is yelling and trying desperately to get Alex’s attention, but he doesn’t hear him. His wolf and Lycan are both present. I have to reach Alex before he does something he will regret.
Pushing my wolf and Lycan to the back of my mind, the pain subsides a little but not much. I try breaking through to mind-link with Alex but I am blocked. He has almost reached Mr. Bellevue and I still haven’t been able to reach him. There is another loud growl and I see David flying across the room and crashes into the doors of the dining hall. They splinter and crumble on top of him as he is knocked unconscious. Shit! Alex, what have you done? “Shift! Freya you have to shift and save mate. We are the only ones strong enough to fight him. He is more powerful but we can handle it. He won’t want to fight us once we’re able to touch him.” My wolf and Lycan say in unison.
“Are you sure?” I’m scared that he won’t recognize me and hurt me. I know that it won’t be him and he will regret it later, but I don’t want him to have that regret.
“Silly girl, just do as we say! Trust us and shift...NOW!”
Before I can think about anything, I can feel the shift taking over. My clothes start to rip apart as my bones break and realign forming my wolf body. Fur spreads over my skin and within seconds I am on all fours. I can hear shocked gasps and murmurs as I slowly walk towards my mate. His nose goes into the air as he is now in his wolf form and he turns to look at me. A deep warning growl rumbles in his chest and my wolf stops approaching in fear for a second before my Lycan pushes us to keep going. There is a sudden surge of power that flows through me and a bit of anger at the fact that our mate just growled at us. We growl back just as strong and for a second I can see his eye color flicker between his wolf color and his normal stormy grey.
My approach has distracted him enough to where Mr. Bellevue was able to take off running for the door. Alex turned and lunged at the man before he could get away and pulled him back. Just when he was about to go for the man's neck, I tackled him and we both rolled to the other side of the room. We kept rolling around snarling and teeth snapping at one another. At some point I managed to kick him off me and when I finally got up, he charged at me with his teeth bared. Instead of getting into a defensive stance, I sit on my haunches and stare at him for a second before baring my neck to him and a whimper leaves my mouth. He stops in his tracks and the snarl on his face slowly starts to disappear. I lay on my belly and look up at him. His eyes cloud over and I feel pressure in my head.
“Baby I am so sorry. I don’t know what came over me. One minute I was calm and letting you handle the situation, and the next all I saw was red.”
“I understand, but we are going to have to work on your temper.” I giggle. “I’m one to talk. My temper has always been the least favorite quality of mine according to my family. I saw the red at the corners of your eyes and knew that something had to be done and my wolf and Lycan told me to shift.”
“I know why you attacked me and I’m glad that you did. Killing him would not have been good and would have caused plenty of problems. Nonetheless, he will be punished for disrespecting you, disturbing our dinner, and further disrespecting me.”
