The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna Chapter 40

Everyone starts to get up and leave the dining hall, and David walks over to us and hands us both some clothes. Once we shift back and change, I find out that they have taken Mr. Bellevue to a cell to await whatever punishment Alex will bestow upon him. David had a couple of broken ribs but they healed within the next hour and he was good as new. For a little while he did have a slight attitude with my mate, but that went away the more Alex apologized to him and promised to send him on a vacation as soon as things calm down.

We spent the rest of the night in his office. I sat on the sofa with a book while he and David discussed ways to find the rogues and put an end to their terror. As they were talking, I suddenly became very sleepy. The feeling was strange as the sleep took over me. I tried opening my mouth to tell Alex that something was wrong but no words would come out. There was a tingly feeling on my skin and my brain was fuzzy. These tingles felt like the ones you get when your foot has fallen asleep. Within seconds darkness took me.

I awoke in the middle of a beautiful field and saw a woman with long white hair wearing a golden gown standing near a glistening lake. She turned to look at me with a dazzling smile upon her face and I couldn’t help but to smile back at her. She beckoned me to come near and I walked over to her. When I finally reached her, she told me to sit and we both sat down in the soft grass.

“My child, there are enemies everywhere so keep your eyes open. Protect your mate, both from others and himself. There will come a time when your love will be tested and you will have a decision to make. Will you stay by your mate’s side or will you run? Know that if you choose to reject him, there will be no second chance mate for you, but he will be able to get another. I do not say this to pressure you into staying with him when that time comes but just to warn you of what will happen. He is royalty and will need an heir, but you have always been strong and have no obligations to hinder you from choosing to love someone that is not your mate. Alex has waited a long time for you. I’d love to sit here and talk to you longer but time is running out. Remember what I said about your enemies. They are everywhere and some are even hidden in plain sight. Be careful of who you surround yourself with and those from both your pasts. I must go now and it is time for you to wake up. Trust your wolf and Lycan, for they will not fail you.” Her voice slowly faded away and my eyes fluttered open to see Alex standing over me with a slight grin.

I smile back at him and then sit up on the sofa and he sits down next to me. I lean into him as he wraps an arm around me and I yawn. He chuckles before pulling me onto his lap and rocking me while rubbing my back.

“Did you manage to find out anything about these rogues? I don’t want any more women and children to be hurt by those animals.”

“I’ve sent out some scouts to check the area and surrounding areas where the women were taken and where their bodies were left for us to find. I’m hoping we get some kind of lead on where they are so we can go in and eradicate them for good.”

“I will be right there by your side. They will all pay for their crimes.”

“Spoken like a true Luna Queen.” I yawn again and he picks me up and carries me bridal style to my room.

“You know we can at least sleep in the same room.”

“Freya, I’d love nothing more than to fall asleep next to you, but I have only so much control. If we were in the same bed, there would be no sleeping for either of us and you’d be extremely sore in the morning.” He lays me down in my bed and kisses me gently on the lips. “Get some rest my love. I love you.”

“I love you too Alex.” My eyes close and I drift off to sleep.

Today is the day of the Mate Ball and I am awoken by two women practically barging into my room and opening the curtains letting the sun into my room. Normally I am up early for training, but since I’ve been here, I haven’t trained as much, though Alex does let me train with his special guard. Those guys are tough but I manage to do more than hold my own against them. Alex has even come to watch us train and has sparred with me on several occasions. Of course, he won every fight but I would expect nothing less from the Lycan King. He is the only one that can take me in a fight and though I pout when he puts me on my ass, inside I am glowing with pride.

The two women rush me out of bed and into the bathroom for a shower. Once I’m done taking my shower and washing my hair, I brush my teeth and step back into my room in my robe. They sit me down in front of my vanity and begin to dry and style my hair. Once my hair is done, they begin to work on my makeup. When they are finished, we move on to getting me dressed. There is a garment bag that I hadn’t seen hanging from the closet door and some silver stiletto pumps sitting beneath it on the floor. I lotion my arms and legs and ask one of them to put some on my back as well. They have refused to let me see how I look until the dress is on, so I’m very anxious. Alex mind-links me and asks me if I am okay, and I tell him that I am just nervous. He tells me that there is no need for me to be nervous and to just try to calm down and he’ll see me soon.

They open the bag and I can do nothing but gasp and stare at the beautiful dress before me. The dress is a black, sleeveless floor-length gown with a split up to my thigh on the both sides with sequins on the top part. It is form-fitting until my waist and then flares out. I’ve never seen something so simple yet elegant. Once I put on the heels, I have exactly ten minutes to get downstairs and to Alex’s office which is where I am supposed to meet him. We aren’t going to walk in together so that we can keep up this farse of us not knowing we are mates, so David will be escorting me inside since I am a “special guest” of the King.

I make it to his office a little late but when he sees me, I can tell that he doesn’t care. He stares at me with his mouth hanging open and I have to stop myself from laughing at the sight. Walking over to him, I place a finger under his chin and close his mouth. David chuckles softly to the right of us. They are both dressed in elegant black tuxedos with silver handkerchiefs in their lapels. Why are they dressed similar? I decide to let it go for now and wrap my arms around my mate before placing a gentle kiss on his lips, but when he tries to deepen the kiss, I pull back.

“No sir. You will not ruin my makeup which I was told that I couldn’t see until I was dressed and then was told that I had to wait until I was with you. Can I finally see how I look now? This party has me anxious enough.” He smiles at me and points me towards the other side of the room where there is a floor length mirror with a cloth draped over.

“Okay my Queen, are you ready to see how beautiful you look? I’m almost tempted to keep you locked away until your birthday. Keeping the males away from you tonight is going to be a tiresome job.” I blush and avert my eyes away from his face.

“Well, I’m sure David and the many guards will gladly get rid of the big bad Lycans for you. I’m not some weak damsel Alex. You know I could put any of them on their asses if they tried anything. I only have eyes for you my love. Now, let me see how sexy I look.”
